Trauma Center Appriciation Thread

Is the game considered rare? Where can I get it?

I saw a couple at BB the other day, I didn't pick one up cause I'm still not sure if it's for me. I know my g/f may enjoy it so I'm thinking of getting it just to get her to play more games.

www.atlus.com still says it's in stock. (At least it did like a week ago when I checked, but it seems to be MIA now :/)

I'm hoping a Gamestop near me still has it in stock on Friday when I drive by there, and hopefully it's complete. I've got credit, and I wanna pick it up. If it's not, does Atlus still sell cases & manuals or would I be SOL?

Trauma Center goes in my video game history, as the 1st handheld game I couldn't 100% complete :( I could only manage to beat like two or so X missions, and I gave up. It was to hard for me. I still love the game though.

Trauma Center is like you're playing as Link and fighting against a metroid but then Ganon comes in with an advanced medical degree and shoots you with the spazer. Awesome game!

Haha, once you beat the final X mission the final mission in the main story mode is a piece of cake. I could beat that (the last story mission) with both hands tied behind my back probably. :lol

How about the one in chalenge mode? Or was it time attack?

This was the first game I bought for my DS (aside from the mario kart pack in) and I really had a blast with it. Never did get around to beating it but definitly one of my favorites and I plan to go back and try to WINNNNNNNNN!

Edit: Oh and this is one of the main reasons I bought a DS too.

Trauma Center is the only DS game I know I will never play. Just looking at the screenshots makes me feel squeamish.

I said never. It won't kill me to rule out one game, of the bazillions out there.
Agreed, but this is an awesome game that you should play.

and there really isn't much in the way of stuff that can make you squeamish. They don't use realistic visuals at all. :lol

In fact, I would say it's near impossible to get squeamish in this game, unless you have an EXTREMELY wild imagination.

I still haven't finished it. I'm stuck on Chapter 6-something in trying to deal with those damn Triti. At the beginning, I'm doing pretty good when I have it down to two Triti's, then all of a sudden, *boom!* the multiplied and I'm pretty much back to where I was in terms of the amount present.

Still, I liked it. Looking forward to the Wii version.

I really want to play this. but it hasn't been released here, and probably won't be.

I'd imagine that it will be alot harder to develop nice and precise controls that feel intuitive with the Wiimote, compared to the DS stylus. or maybe not.

they should make Blackjack the rival.

Oh yeah, this game definitely rocks. It's hard as hell too, which is refreshing. I'll definitely be getting Second Opinion on Wii. I just hope they can come up with some new modes to add some variety.

Multiplayer would be pretty awesome as well. You could compete in a time trial against a second player-- or perhaps even perform a single operation together! Or the second player could be the "virus" and try to cause damage and evade your laser.

If I'm channel surfing and see open heart surgery, I immediately need to change the channel because it makes me feel squeamish for some reason.

I wasn't sure if Trauma centre was a game I'd be able to play, but I can tell you it is honestly not like that at all. As others have said, it's not done in an extremely realistic graphic style and I think it actually helped in removing that uneasiness I felt when seeing those type of operations.

Damn fun game too. I sweat like crazy on the harder missions. I'm currently on the final stretch of missions. It's tough, but not unfair, and that's why I keep coming back. Awesome, awesome game.

It really is crazy how much you yourself sweat while playing this game.

Intense concentration ftw. :D

Can anyone tell me how many missions are in the game? I picked it up today and I already know I'm going to love it. It's alot of shit to remember though, and I'm only on the throat polyp stage. Anyway, I'd like to know about how many operations there are so I know if I should go back to each surgery and take it slow or just continue on.

There are 44 missions, including the 7 optional missions you unlock after you beat the main story mode.

Sweet, that's plenty. The new nurse is a hottie, I think she needs open leg surgery right away!

I picked it up again and am continuing my playthrough.

It's not so hard once you realize how to utilize the healing touch. And jesus the story is long and boring. I just skip it now. I hate the sap.

Let me cut someone open.

I just bought this game a couple days ago and finished it today. First off, it was fantastic. Second, it wasn't very difficult... at all. I only had to replay a couple surgeries and used the healing touch on just a handful of levels.

I have a slight background in drawing, which I assume helped. I'm much more comfortable making quick, precise movements with a pencil than most people.

Honestly, the experience makes it a lot more understandable to me that people find modern videogames so difficult. When even moving a pencil quickly around a page can seem incredibly difficult to someone with little experience, precise movement with two analog sticks and 8 buttons must be incredibly daunting.

Go play the X missions and we'll talk. If you clear all of those easily...well then you're obviously some sort of machine.

Noting my appreciation!

I'm waiting until I finish Phoenix Wright before I pour myself into Trauma Center but I played through the first few operations as soon as I got it and I reckon its brilliant fun. Reminds me somewhat of the old Life and Death on PC but just soooo much better with a touch-screen.
