Treasure interested in Steam, puts up Ikaruga on Steam Greenlight

There's clearly an audience on the PC, unless the only reason that Touhou sells is the characters.

I would be very suprised if Japanese shmups couldn't find a home on the PC, especially with the many pricing and bundling options that are available. These games rarely sell many copies at retail, so there's a possibility they could do even better in a digital enviroment like Steam.

Do we know how many copies something like Jamestown have sold?

Which other Japanese games haven't been greenlit yet? The search system is ass so I can't seek them out :(
There's been a couple that have finally been Greenlit after over a year of being on there, like Bunny Must Die, and Higurashi(Whey They Cry)no Naku Koro ni. So the list is decreasing ever so slightly. But it's still quite a large backlog out there of games which haven't yet been Greenlit. Most of them indie/doujin, of course.

Here, let me go into Steam to see my favourites list because there's too many to remember offhand.

- Diadra Empty(also an STG)
- %100 Orange Juice
- The Tale of ALLTYNEX(also an STG)
- cloudphobia(also an STG)
- Suguri Collection(also an STG)
- Dragon's Odyssey
- Vampire Hurts
- War of the Human Tanks
- Eryi's Action

Admittedly, some of these are better than others.
But Suguri Collection, Tale of ALLTYNEX, and Diadra Empty are all, very good STGs worthy of being greenlit which yet haven't.

Vertical screen mode supported.

Wow, great. I've got no problem buying this game for a third time, it's been too long since I played it. If only Cave would jump on the bandwagon.

edit: also, it's ridiculous that they have to go through greenlight.

Treasure? I haven't even heard of them in years aside from once every 6 months hearing Ikaruga again. I'd bet Treasure itself doesn't even know all the different stuff Treasure has made all these years aside from Ikaruga. It thinks its only made Ikaruga, but it's made platformers and other stuff. Castlevania 4 iirc, Gunstar, Guardian, and other good stuff.

Sarcasm aside, I can't believe they're still around, no seriously, not because they aren't good, but because, well what the hell have they made lately? Like in the past 10 years? How do they get by without work?

Anyway, green lighted.

Treasure's a pretty small company (30 employees give or take) and they've actually developed a decent amount of games for the generation. Most of them however were either handheld titles or XBLA titles.

Turn the Vita and play it vertically. I'd buy it.

Oh my gosh yes!

I suck ass at Bullet hell shoot em ups but I'm upvoting for more Japanese devs on Steam and for all my Steam Bros and sistas to enjoy this~
Hoepfully this'll mean they can somehow get Gunstar Heroes on Steam as well if it isn't already.

I don't play Shmups at all but still voted. More Japanese developers need to use Steam, and from what I hear Ikaruga is an excellent game.

Now we need Cave.
They've certainly talked positively about it.

I hope they haven't given up the idea. I know that Nippon Ichi also said similar things.
But have yet only put one game on Steam.

Even though ClaDun X2 is far from their greatest game, I feel the need to buy several copies just to support the idea of companies like this on Steam.

I'm sure this will be greenlit as soon as the next update is live. Wouldn't actually be surprised if they could have avoided Greenlight altogether if they pitched it directly to Valve beforehand.

eh... my steam account is logged out. can't be bothered logging in to vote. hope it makes it on though!

Lighting up that green lantern! All of my yes!

Yep. yepyepyep! YEP!

Has to be one of the hardest games I own for the GC. Having it on steam won't hurt at all. and after Greenlight they can release their games at will, right? What games could they release without licensing issues?

I'll vote yes to that!

And looking at the screenshots, I think they may have actually already finished the port. Wonder if they even needed to do Greenlight.

Fucking Tate support? My BenQ XL2420 is screaming with joy. Dat pivot function <3

I don't usually vote on Greenlight, but when I do - its to support shmups. Now someone go talk Cave into this and I'm done.

Sooo... about that Guardian Heroes game Treasure. I'll give all my money for it to be the next game to be on Steam Greenlight.

With it being based on the 360 version, how is it compared to the Dreamcast version as I already own it on that.

YES!

It's funny how most people miss this point. This will be greenlit in like a day, but it'll get a good amount of press in the process.

You don't think they would get a ton of press by just announcing a Steam release?

I know this type of thing happens, with games already cleared for release turning to greenlight for publicity, but I doubt it's very effective and it's kind of disingenuous, and if anything it's bad publicity for Valve so I don't really understand why they even allow it.
