Troy Baker is the new Ocelot

Man, Troy looks like every single character he's voiced apart from that awkward moron in Catherine. Well, he kind of looks like him too.

Someone needs to make the video game equivalent of This is the End with Nolan North, Troy Baker, Jennifer Hale, and Laura Bailey playing themselves.

If we're talking about Troy in Sony franchises in the last year and near future he's been in The Last of US, GoW:Ascension ans soon Infamous:Second Son. Guess he's just easy. But anyway his performance in TLoU is totes amazeballs.

So what was his first major work? First time I heard him was in Catherine. He'll always be Vincent to me.

I'm pretty sure that Catherine is the first time I heard him, too.

EDIT: No, wait. It was Yuri from Tales of Vesperia. That may have been his first major credited role.

Lol, Silent Hill 2? That was, what, 10 years ago? I agree you can't replace Patrick Zimmerman, but it is still a pretty sensible change.

Patric Zimmerman has been Ocelot for about 15 years now. Some performances can't be replaced.

Still, I think Kojima didn't want to use PZ due to the facial stuff, and that Ocelot is only 40 in the Phantom Pain.

Troy Baker really seems to be getting ahead as of late. I only used to think of him as that one guy who does some niche voices in anime and Japanese games. Now he's in Batman, Bioshock and Metal Gear Solid?

It's a shame the dude's voice is more identifiable than Nolan North.

I still think he is a little young for Zimmerman.
I think you are correct though, in the KP report they talked about trying to find similar faces with wrinkles etc for facial capture.

Zimmerman wasn't doing Ocelot in MGS3.
This is a younger Ocelot than MGS1-4, it make sens to have a bridging voice.

The difference between Baker and say North, is that he's usually put in roles that mean you can't really tell its him. I mean, the guy is both Kanji, Booker and Joel. And at least he sounds different in all three.

Can't agree with this at all. He's instantly recognizeable in all three roles. The first time I really started paying attention to him was in P4. He sounded very similar in Saints Row 3 and BioShock Infinite.

I like the guy but it's starting to be a bit grating hearing him everywhere, and I'm sure he has a great range but VA directors keep telling him to do the same bloody voice, same as with Nolan North who seemed to get told to do his Drake voice for everyone.

Love his performances as Vincent (Catherine) and Kanji (Persona 4), however I found his Booker (Bioshock) really boring and his Snow (FFXIII) INCREDIBLY annoying (then again that's probably the script's fault). I've yet to play The Last of Us so no opinion on Joel.

I hope Kojima made a good choice. Can't say I'm not gonna miss Pat Zimmerman but I suppose he might sound a bit old for a 40-something-old Ocelot...

....they grow up so fast.
I remember back when I first heard him in tales of vesperia. Now the dude is getting the credit and work everywhere.
