This a little off topic... but who do you guys think are the actual good actors on this show? (the show gets criticized a lot for it's poor acting).

Sam, Rutina, Ryan, Chris, Nelson, and Adina really stand out.
Stephen, Dale, Carrie, and Kristin are pretty good too.

And it's not off topic. :P

To be so close to seeing Sam make out with himself, only for it to be taken away at the last moment. Such a tease, True Blood.

But I really have nothing to complain about, the ample amount of Joe Manganiello nudity was supremely delightful.

I actually think the main characters in the show are the worst actors (Sookie, Bill, and Eric). Everyone else does a pretty good job. Evan Rachel Wood being an exception (she's a great actress, but her role in TB was horrible.)

Wow! Bill pulling the 180 there. He's known for being a sneaky motherfucker (tricking sookie at the beginning of the series and snooping for the queen and having files on everyone) so I hope he has a plan to bring down this authority. Otherwise, we may see Bill get killed off if this is his true path :( I hope not. He's been my favorite throughout the entire series.

That shot probably would have blown their CG budget for the rest of the season.
Probably, haha. :D I laughed my ass off when Sam stole that other patient's clothes and that feminine walk, lol. Sam was the highlight of this episode. Also maybe I'm mistaken but this was the first time Jessica discovered something unusual about Sam, no?

When she worked at Merlotte's she didn't know he was a shifter, as far as I can remember...

I knew Hoyt wasn't going to kill Jessica. I did like his little exchange with her though. Pam and Tara starting to bond was also great to see. Was awesome when Pam glamoured that girl.

Enjoying Bill's slow turn to a darker side. Also nice to see Eric be the good one (of his own recognition, not under a witch's spell).

Poor Alcide got his ass beat by a juiced up JD. Wonder what will happen in that situation next. And now I'm really intrigued about "Warlow". I was trying to get an idea who it was but I couldn't place the face. He didn't seem to have the jawline of Bill, Eric or Russell from what I could tell. His voice sounds pretty threatening too.

why can't this show be 40mins of the vamp storyline?
all these side characters all having their own dumbass storylines taking up 3/4 of the show is BS

True Blood is a Soap Opera with a bigger budget. I don't see them cutting down on the storylines because of people's interest in all the characters.

thats what makes the show fun

I wouldn't want everybody involved in Vamp politics all the danm time.

Because GAF was down last night, I wasn't able to jot down my impressions, and I mostly forgot what happened last night. Well, except for one thing:

Dat Alcide sex scene....

Good gravy.

Oh yeah, and I really liked Lafayette's seance scene. I loved that he had jingly bracelets. XD

Sam's actor is really fucking good at doing impressions of other actors.

I agree. Every time he's done an impression of someone it's been ace. I would love to see him do Sookie and Lafayette. :D

Incoming Sam kissing Sam scene. xD

edit: Oh True Blood. You freaking tease.

Sam almost kissing himself. What a tease....

Yeah, seriously. Believe it or not, not everyone hates the side characters or loves the vampire storyline.

Not that I don't think the show should stop trying to juggle more subplots than it can handle, but it seems to be doing very well in that regard this season.

Thank you! I get so tired of people complaining about everything that doesn't include the vampires and wanting to "thin the cast." I enjoy the series being about more, even if I don't personally love every sub-plot.

On topic, I think Bill is pretending to believe all of the religious stuff. The plan to shut down the True Blood factories at least slows down the wanton killing of humans and non-sanguinista vamps. I'm basing that on nothing but his past behaviors. Maybe he has changed, but that would be a drastic change in just 2 episodes.

And Sam is amazing. But I don't understand why changing into another human is so much harder on them than shifting into an animal. You'd think becoming another human is less stressful on their bodies than the complete shift to a bird or a horse. I really don't want anything to happen to Luna. She's not a favorite or anything but still.

Also, why hasn't that creepy pedo vamp's face cleared up yet? You'd think he'd heal. Of course, his disfigurement makes the pedo stuff even grosser than it already is so maybe it's a plot thing.

Oh yeah, when Luna and Sam come to rescue Jessica, Luna says that a woman has been there: "A large woman with bad hygiene and eating habits" or something to that effect. Last week we saw a very large woman with the former sheriff... :O

Anyone else find it interesting that in the second season, Daphne said that Lilith (along with Kali, Isis and Gaia) was one of the names used to identify Maryann throughout history?

The creators like namedropping random mythological entities so I'm sure it means absolutely nothing, but I still think it's a neat observation.

:O You're right that it probably means nothing, but could you imagine if they brought back Maryann?

Eh Bill's clearly got some hidden agenda with helping the Authority. I guess you can also say that Eric and Bill are now members of the Authority (unofficial Chancellors?), given that they seem to be participating in the work. :lol Bill especially seems to find himself getting in to very important high ranked jobs every now and then, under random and unexpected circumstances.

This Warlow or whatever his name is...I hope he's some epic vampire and he keeps even a semblance of that demonic voice that they gave him. More vampiric cannon fodder would suck, no pun intended.

There HAS to be vampires out there who would kick Russell's arse. Even he doesn't give a shit about anything now bar having fun, which all vampires his age would probably do now.

I love Hoyt's mom. She is a horrible, racist bitch, yet she's so incredibly funny about it.

She reminds me of an evil version of Paula Deen.

Season is falling off for me a little bit. It's still good entertainment and still better than recent seasons... but I wonder how much more I'd love this show if it was a little leaner. The idea that there are four more episodes is a little concerning to me -- feels like too long. Hopefully they buck tradition and knock the rest of the season out of the park.

With the moaning out of the way, my thoughts:

-I agree there's some sort of scheme by Bill.

-Second, I'm not convinced Warlow is a vampire we don't already know... but trying to play it that way (teasing the audience to think it's some other vampire and then making it someone like Bill, for example) would maybe be a bit out of character for the show.

-What's everyone's impression -- did Tara totally drain her high school "friend" or not? Scene kind of made me wonder... but I don't think it's really Pam's M.O. to have people dying at Fangtasia.

Bill seemed to snap out of his stupor when Eric gave him that talk near the beginning of the episode.

He must have something planned with the scheme.

I said it earlier in the thread but didn't they point out when he first came into the show that he is the oldest vampire in the new world? Gonna be plenty older in Europe / Asia no doubt.

Maybe Bill bought shares in a manufacturer that makes a True Blood alternative :p

Didn't Eric say the same thing about Godric before Russell was introduced?

I love True Blood however this season is not that great for me. All the episodes feel so incomplete since there are so many story lines. Bits and pieces of multiple stories really sucks. The episodes feel like nothing but cliffhangers every 5-10 minutes never fully fleshing out anything.

Good episode. Much better than last week's crapfest.

PRO's for this episode:
+ Luna as Sam. Sam almost kissing Sam. On the forehead though? Get outta here!
+ Warlow not really looking like Bill, Eric, or Russell to rule them out as the murderers. He actually looks like a combination of all three.
+ More Pam and Tara.
+ Alcide getting down and dirty. Oh my.
+ Lafayette and Jesus getting some sort of closure. Maybe. Not really sure.

CON's for this episode:
- Hoyt's new redneck friends for one day leaving him alone in a locked room with Jessica, a girl he's been with for over a year. Gee, I wonder what could possibly go wrong. I hope I'm wrong and Dragon is not Hoyt's mom. That would be funny, but the shifter situation won't be as funny and I like Hoyt's mom. Like mentioned above, it could be the former sheriff and his mistress.
- Thanks pregnant lady for saving Lafayette. I guess we don't need to see or hear from you though.

And judging from the preview for next week's episode, it looks like
Arlene definitely stabs someone and Bill and Salome get it on (gross!) but it looks like Bill is picturing her to be Sookie (awwww). And hoping that Pam and Tara double team to save Fangtasia.

Past couple of episodes haven't been as good as the ones before them IMO but last night's did have a bunch of funny moments.

Add me to the list of folks who aren't necessarily convinced "Warlow" isn't someone we already know. Russel Edgington is 3000 years old but I don't think he's always been called that. I can't imagine anyone having that name 3000 years ago. He probably adopted that name to be more with the times.
