Typical selfish bill. He wanted to die and asked sookie to kill him? He coulda just waited and died under the house, keeping her from being emotionally scarred.
The show was at its best when they went balls out crazy and just had fun. Instead they decided to play it safe for a very boring and conservative series finale. A happy ending 3-5 years later? There are no such things as happy endings in Bon Temps, that place is a supernatural convergence point. It's crazy town.
The pivotal scene with Bill and Sookie was awful. When she finally said that she couldn't do it, I thought she meant she couldn't kill him. But I laughed out loud when she clarified that what she meant was that she couldn't give up her fairy power because blah blah blah it's part of her, and then she marches over to a shovel and kicks off a crude stake to do in her love.
I thought for sure that she was going to send Bill out with the warmth of her fairy ball of destruction, almost Godric style, but nope, her fairy power is too important to her. Instead she dispatches him in the most brutal fashion.
They should closed out the series with an all out crazy ass finale, which they've done before in the past. Thanksgiving at Sookie's house? No thanks.

Chaining someone up and torturing them to insanity over a period of years isn't a punishment appropriate for any crime. Plus it recontextualized Eric and Pam into vicious sociopaths carrying a grudge instead of the aloof coolness they're otherwise about.
There's no sense in which this show ever articulated any expectation for justice. "Bad people get what's coming to them" was never the show's project.

Eh, I wouldn't have cared if they killed her. It just seemed weirdly cruel when she said, "nothing." Or whatever the word was.

I finally got around to watching the ending and it was awful. What was particularly awful was Sarah Newlin's fate. That scene was approaching torture porn levels of uncomfortable for me.

Eric and Pam were always vicious sociopaths.
Eric was carrying an enormous grudge because Sarah killed his beloved sister.
They were cold and aloof because they kept her alive just to make money off her blood.
Which sister he mentioned exactly zero times this season? He's clearly real broken up about it... In any case it was just so super jarring compared to everything else going on in the episode.
lol at them putting Jessica and Hoyt back together. They seriously ended on the worst terms with her falling out of love with him and in love with Jason and yet they decide to throw them back together with her basically using his memory loss as a way back in? Also him marrying her even though he barely knows her? Yikes.
It's also weird they pushed Bill/Sookie so hard. Alcide and her were JUST dating and you still have to account for Eric.
Terrible show. Really crappy way to end something that started out so fun and interesting.

Should have had Bill turn human again. That would be a more shocking ending than just killing him off

Bill turning human would have made more sense than her killing him. We knew her blood had special powers and she started to hear his thoughts. It was stupid to kill him. I think they were planning to turn him human and maybe decided against it at the last second. Things throught the episodes were building to him turning human.

Yeah, it just felt tonally odd to me.
Remember back when Bill tried to FUCKING BURY ERIC ALIVE....and Eric barely even cared. Just told Sookie about his secret and kept it moving.

I would have liked him to turn human just as she stabbed him with the stake, and just started screaming in abject terror and pain before he died.
