Trump kept calling Lil Jon 'Uncle Tom' on The Celebrity Apprentice.

So basically what needs to happen now is that somebody needs to find some tapes of Trump insulting the Supreme Court as an institution, or a Supreme Court justice that's popular on the right, or our court system in general. I bet he's insulted at least one of those.

Except the GOP has already shown that they would rather have a nonfunctional SCOTUS than a liberal one.

Just like I said before, in order to vote for Trump you need to be a racist, misogynist, bigot, xenophobe, or homophobe. He has never specified any policy other than a Wall between Mexico which is itself horrific and racist, and therefore there is no reasonable excuse that you're a single issue voter and just don't care.

If you vote for him, you're a deplorable and everyone has gained the right to call you so. You're a disgusting human being who deserves all related scorn. Congratulations, you're the lowest of the low.

LOW TAXES is not enough to excuse your disgusting affirmation of his sexual predator and racist behavior. Sorry, you're gross.

Also a sexist, and an idiot.

Sounded like a funny story till it got to the racist bit. I honestly have no idea what Uncle Tom is glad I've been educated by this so I don't make this mistake.

To be fair, on his website it says that hes for the typical republican stances on taxes, healthcare, and energy. And he's against the TPP/common core. So I could kind of see someone who isn't bigoted voting for trump if there was a perfect storm of them wanting someone who will pass conservative economic policies in office, them being a low information voter who bought into the Benghazi/Email conspiracy theories (maybe due to all their friends believing it) and legitimately thinks Clinton is a full on criminal and the media really is in her pocket which is why all this anti trump stuff is coming out all at once, and having the misguided view that if congress stops all of trumps crazy ideas like the wall and Muslim ban everything will be fine even if he's a terrible person

If he legit had no clue it was racist, he can't be called racist for this...but he can be called tone deaf, stubborn, sheltered, out of touch, and combative...all not very Presidential

WHAT.

Let's be honest, Uncle Tom has been used for a long time. It isn't used as frequently now, but a 70 year old was alive when the epithet was used with much more frequency. I'm not trying to hear the excuse that he didn't know what he was saying

Well, he knew. His producers tried to explain it to him but he didn't care. So he definitely understood the definition.

There's no way Trump didn't/doesn't know what "Uncle Tom" refers to, people his age were raised on entertainment that directly referenced that story, it was part of the everyday landscape in pop culture until the 1960s. Many films and cartoons through the 40s and 50s directly parodied it or even straight up retold the story(see Disney's "Song of the South", which was distributed in the U.S. until the mid 1980s).

Told it was racist. Kept using it because he disagreed. Racist.

"Hey it's ok he uses the N word because he doesn't think it's racist"

It doesn't work that way. This is even assuming he didn't. Not giving this man any benefit of the doubt myself.

I have a question for hopefully any black people in this thread.

Is it ever appropriate for me, who is not black, to call someone Uncle Tom? Like, if a black guy says "I'm voting for Trump" and I called him an Uncle Tom, is that not my place to say it? Is it another black person that would have to say that to them?

Don't do it. Better to ask why he or she is voting for an individual that is clearly a racist, mysoginist, etc. Uncle Tom doesn't get the same notoriety as other epithets, but it's best to steer clear

Never, ever do this.

WHAT THE FUCK IS IT GOING TO TAKE?!?!!? FUCKING CHRIST!!

This election has woke me in a way that I did not think possible. The racism...the sexism...the ethnocentrism...the....wannafuckmydaughterism....it's fucking incredible. And he's STILL at like 40% of the polls. Mother of god.

I'm not sure. But I think if it's a literal comparison to the character it might be ok. I'd say a Clarence Thomas or Ben Carson share traits of subservience to white people for personal gain. It's kinda of a parallel phrase to pointing out how racists refer to certain useful minorities as the "good ones". I think pointing out how they hold that view isn't in and of itself offensive.

At least that's my best guess. It sorta predates my era and I'd be happy to be corrected if I'm wrong here.

White guy here. No...don't do this. Plain and simple.
