Well, yes, all politicians obfuscate, redirect, refuse to answer questions, use talking points instead of engaging etc. And occasionally, most politicians tell outright lies.
However, flat out lying to the extent Trump does is unprecedented.
He demonstrably, definitely, lies more than any other presidential candidate this year (and probably any other year).
Excusing Trump with the whole "every politician lies"-line means you disregard YUGE differences in how often politicians tell the truth.

None of this matters. Trump spent time saying that he was a Democrat but he switched sides. Most of those quotes came before that comment.
If you ask him (or his supporters) about it all he will say is those comments were made before he saw the light or some such.

Who knows what Trump believes, but his real self is demonstrated in his actions-
he is willing to pander to the plebes, to the lowest common denominator in his quest for power, he is a racist, a misogynist, a corrupt xenophobic who does not care if he has to create strife and divide the country in order to exploit it, 'cause the ninny wants to be President of the United States of America.

He probably held similar (though probably not as extreme) beliefs in the past, but kept them low key, as people tend to do.
All the attention and positive reinforcement has made him into a cartoon of his former self, and he was already a cartoon character to begin with.

I'm convinced he hasn't actually flipped personally, but rather that he and his campaign knows what kind of rhetoric resonates with his voter base. He'll say what needs to be said to win. He doesn't think he can win by attracting centrist voters, and figures the best bet is to go all in on the lowest common denominator crap.
