TV GAF need your input

I currently have a 65 LG CX OLED and I'm looking to upgrade for a 75 inch. I don't care if the the TV is true RGB ( Sony) or OLED any recommandation?

I like my 77" Samsung S90C (QD-OLED). It supports VRR, and 4k@120Hz. It also supports 144Hz, but I have never used that. It's Samsung, so it doesn't support Dolby Vision. If you need that, then ignore me.

EDIT: It looks like the successor is the 77" Samsung S90F. If you're looking, look at that instead of the older S90C that I have.

If you are playing anything at 30fps, I would consider skipping OLED and get a Bravia 7ii. I know you say you have a CX now, but that had some kind of BFI magic that newer models typically don't have.

I have a 48" S90F that is good outside of the Samsung menu system and horrible initial color profile (looks great after tweaking). Game Motion Plus is nice for 60fps third person content. I also have an 83" G4 that is great, but bright as hell. Would have been fine with the C4. I think there is some controversy around this year's LG models, but can't comment.

Samsung S95H 77 inch is probably best overall, QD-OLED, latest panel, low input lag. No Dolby Vision though and has matte coating. Matte coating does a great job with reflections but you may prefer something glossy. Would check out before buying to see if you are OK with the matte coating. Also it has a huge silver frame around the screen which you may or may not not like.

Sony A95L 77 inch is still out there are still great. Older QD-OLED, gets bright but not as bright as today's top models, but still has a great picture. Supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision but not HDR10+. Only two HDMI 2.1 ports and more lag than competing brands, but even then it's ~16ms at 60hz vs ~9ms for other brands.

Samsung S90F in North America should be the QD-OLED version, so has the color and brightness benefits of QD-OLED vs WOLED but at a midrange price (check model number, if it ends in FXZA it's QD-OLED, if EXZA it's WOLED). Glossy screen instead of the matte coating Samsung uses on their 2026 OLEDs. Should mention here that game mode will need some minor tweaking in the options menu to get an accurate image, this goes for S95H as well. Good value.

If you're looking for a good bargain Panasonic Z8BA 77 inch is on Amazon and is being sold for $1499 and sometimes goes on sale for $1299. It's a third party seller but shipping and support is through Amazon. It's a rebadged Panasonic Z93A from 2024 so similar panel to LG C4 (WOLED) but with Panasonic processing. Should be a bit brighter in HDR than your CX but not as much of a jump as the QD-OLED TVs. Supports all HDR formats, has accurate color out of the box and input lag is as low as LG and Samsung. Unfortunately like Sony it only has two HDMI 2.1 ports. It's very heavy too, ~100 lbs due to built-in sound bar.

I'm extremely curious to see what TV you pick.
I've had my eye on the new TrueRGB TV's from Sony... I want a TV that can hopefully last a while with no babying it and worrying about burn it even it relatives and family members are using the TV. I want low input lag for gaming too. The thing that drives me towards the Bravia 9-II is that I use my screens in bright rooms during the daytime and so I love matte screens and screens that have anti-glare. If the Bravia 7-II had the anti-glare coating it would be really interesting but alas the much more expensive 9-II has it. The Bravia 9-II also seems more expensive than it should be imho. I also considered the Samsung S95F QD-OLED with their matte screens but I'm not too sure about a Samsung display and quality/longevity. The LG OLED have the higher refresh rate and 4 HDMI 2.1 ports but OLED isn't the best for the occasional 30 fps gaming and there's the minor concern about burn in, plus the super glossy and mirror-like screen.

Decisions, decisions....

Streaming only and yes I use Dolby vision

I personally went with the Sony A95L two months ago when Sony decided not to make a 77" Bravia 8ii. I saw the Bravia 9ii in store. It's nice, but I prefer the contrast of OLED better than the brightness of the RGB LED. I'm happy with the A95L, but it's kind of expensive for a three year old tv.

I think I'd wait to give Sony one more year to put out a new flagship QD OLED in 77". Otherwise, I'd probably go with a C6 for the gaming features or a Samsung S95F/H. I also have an S90F in my basement for gaming. I got it at Costco with a free 5 year warranty. I like the Sony picture better, but it was more affordable and I don't worry about all of the gaming hours on the Sony.

Do you still have LCD TVs elsewhere in the house outside the CX? What do you think of them after having seen OLED's contrast? Does viewing angle matter much, is someone off to the side regularly?

Since its mostly Switch 2 and movies then I prefer specifically the B9 II for bright colourful games and 24 fps content, I just think the motion is preferable when you don't have any motion smoothing turned on. If you use motion smoothing on the CX and like/love it then that's less of a factor.

I think if money is not really an issue (and I don't think it is for you) and you go to an LCD it must be the B9 II, don't buy the B7 II, if you go for an OLED again then get a 77" G6, because a 77" C6 won't be as big of an upgrade as the G-series will be.

The G6 will be amazing and a more vibrant version of what you have but the B9 II will be a new sort of image and will handle reflections better overall so if weekend daytime playing of games or movie watching without shutting the curtains/blinds is a consideration then that's a big factor.

What about an 85" B9 II? Lol its a pretty crazy price.

OP: just be aware, VRR sucks on LED TVs. If you enable it, pixel overdrive gets disabled and motion handling goes down the shitter.

I wish the G6 (wall-mount only, at least in the US) was available with tv stands like the C6.

Fwiw, I get a pana OLED that was severely burned and out of brightness after 6years, and I just replaced it with a TCL C9 miniled. The picture is quite great, way brighter than the Pana, and the price is insane (1000€ for 65", 1300 for 75" during sales...).

Not going back to oled.

Honestly, just get a TCL mini led, i went from a TCL mini led to a Bravia 9 a few months ago, and the Bravia sucks ASS for gaming. TCL was miles better, you can also use game mode "interpolation" on the TCL.

Get a TCL high end mini led and save 2-3 grand. Especially if you play games, the sony is utter trash for it.

Or if you are going the oled route, get a QD-OLED

The S90C is becoming one of those legendary TVs that's simply just so good, even the models after it aren't as good. I personally love my S90C.
