As a kid I used to wait for the day when I would be able to enter a friends/ girls friends room through a window and ladder. Only later did I realize that nobody has ladders like that that, that's weird, kinda dangerous, and I'd live nowhere near anybody
Having had to enter through a window into our house after we accidentally locked the keys inside, I can tell you, it's a really awkward way to enter a house. Those people on TV make it look way easier than it really is.
You'd be surprised. Have family members that do this and I shake my head. We have a keypad lock, so that should be the new standard than hiding a key under the mat or in a fake rock.
