At WWF King of the Ring 1996, Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Jake The Snake Roberts in the tournament finals and then delivered a scathing promo, berating Roberts, putting the rest of the WWF roster on notice, and mentioning Austin 3:16 for the very first time. It has been portrayed as the "official" birth of the Austin 3:16 character, and from there, Stone Cold Steve Austin went on to become one of the biggest and most important figures in WWF history.

What were some of your favorite Stone Cold moments, matches, gifs, etc?

If the MSG Curtain Call incident doesn't happen, then HHH wins KotR and gets his push, no Austin 3:16, and Austin stays in the midcard for at least another year or two. The wrestling business looks a lot different.

It's amazing how much modern wrestling seems to originate from HBK, DX, and his Kliq.

I still remember being in 4th grade and the teacher was asking a 5th grader what Austin 3:16 meant because so many kids were wearing the shirt and the panic in his eyes as he tried to avoid answering and the teacher not taking no for an answer lol.

Isn't King of the Ring '96 the same event where Stone Cold accidentally bit through his own lip, went to the ER mid show to get stitched up, then came back to win it all?

JR wasn't kidding. The man was "tougher than a two dollar steak".

Moments
Backlash 2000
Austin is one of the kings of hype surprise run ins (see also helping foley win the title in 99 and the night before WWF Invasion) but this one, hot damn. Rock's getting crushed by ridiculous odds, Austin arrives for the first time since his injury looking a bit chubbier but he has a chair so it balances out and everyone eats steel.
Rock wins the title arena implodes, then the two biggest stars of the attitude era drink some beer.

Bedpan McMahon
That bedpan bonk sound, priceless.

Matches
vs Dude Love (Over the Edge 98)
An attitude era brawl with a host of bullshittery from McMahon and chums as they start changing match rules on the fly. Fun, chaotic match with that memorable ending where Austin uses an unconscious Vince's hand to count the pin.

vs Kurt Angle (Raw Oct 8th 2001)
Heel Austin was good fun, his brawling moveset was freshened up by the shift allowing him to be more suitably dickish than he was as a face. Of all his matches with Angle this one stands out to me, underrated Raw main event right here.

I only recently learned what Austin 3:16 meant after seeing Kevin Love wear a shirt of it after winning the finals and its fucking hilarious.

Simply classic. It was the whole turning point to when the WWF just blew up. When you were on the edge of your seat every week.

Thanks for reminding me I'm still 4 years behind on the WWE and I still want to catch up to it all though, oh man.

Austin's podcast is genuinely entertaining. Man's still got it.

I love it when he reviews matches on his podcasts and you can just see how meticulous he is when it comes to the little things that happen in the ring.

Someone synced up his review of the Rock vs. Mankind match from January 1999 with the video of the match, and it's definitely worth a watch:

Definitely one of my favorite wrestlers when I was younger. He definitely had my favorite finisher.

THE STONE COLD STUNNER! THE STONE COLD STUNNER!

That lumbering walk through the dark, smoky arena as he walks through the aisle is just so epic. Someone needs to reinterpret that in painting form or something because it encapsules so much about his in-ring character.

Amazing really
