as a kid, I fucking hated the kid. I don't know if it's because he was lame as fuck, or if I was jealous because I wanted to be a power ranger somehow this asshole got to be.

No it really isn't. S1 at least had a great cast with actual chemistry. It was always a show built on stock footage from Japanese television, but Zeo so far is barely watchable. It's awful. S1 was a thousand times better than this.

Big Bad Beetleborgs was killing Power Rangers in the ratings at the time, and that had an all kid main cast, so they thought they could adapt that idea to PR and get similar results.

Looking back at it, it's terrible. But isn't that what every single kid watching Power Rangers would imagine? Being on the team? Dreaming up what his color and costume would look like?

Justin was wish fulfillment for the young Power Ranger viewer. It was just hilarious watching him grow when he was in costume.

Nah, the first 3 MMPR seasons really weren't great at all. Like, the Green Ranger arc, the White Ranger's first appearance, and The Wedding are the only real stand out episodes. And I say this as someone who was obsessed with MMPR when it first debuted. But I was a kid back then; watching it again years later... Oof. It's very rough around the edges.

Linkara actually pointed this out in History of Powers Rangers: MMPR season 1 retrospective. Like any rangers colors, it was probably accidental. Still, it's a pretty big 'whoops".

Yeah, I definitely don't agree with that. It's been just as watchable as the other MMPR seasons for me. I think nostalgia is settling in with some of this stuff though. This is basically the same show in the end.
