Ubisoft announcing their new AAA IP before E3

A brand new IP? Kind of surprised at that

They've announced at least one new IP the last few E3's so this shouldn't be a surprise. Hopefully its some sci-fi game.

Expecting For Honor to get a release date similar to Siege's this year. I also hope Ghost Recon isn't too like The Division but can see it :(

Seems like a lot to juggle if they're launching *another* massive IP this year. Wondering if they're thinking about sunsetting Assassin's Creed for a while.

maybe he meant for a while

we did get Watch_Dogs in 2014, Division a couple of months ago, and are getting For Honor later this year. Seems like that's plenty for a couple of years AAA-wise.

Part of the reason they're investing so much is that they want to get up to size with EA and Activision.

It will still take quite a bit to get there.

Is this the game Clint Hocking is working on at Ubi Toronto?

God I hope so. Clint and a level designer of Chaos Theory just did a walkthrough of the bank level, so I am really hoping it's a new stealth game.

Only a surprised because I expected to not hear of a new IP until after the release of their latest new IP, For Honor. But there is no use in delaying an announcement if you are actively working on the project and bringing it towards completion. I haven't paid much attention to their announcement schedule.

I hope it's a take on a Ninja game like Tenchu, they've been busting our balls with assassin's creed never being one for too long already n' going further away each and every time. Crossing fingers.

So no 'One last thing' they've been having at their E3 conferences for the last couple years? Those were great.

I'm shocked you guys haven't leaked it yet!
Heh. I never like keeping news to myself, but there's a fine line between spoiling an announcement because there's news value and spoiling an announcement just for the sake of spoiling an announcement. Reporting that AC is skipping this year and that WD2 is replacing it for this fall's marquee spot definitely falls into the former category, but talking about this new IP just based on a few things I've heard feels too much like the latter. (I think I said something similar last year.)

I got a message a few months ago from someone who worked on Hero, telling me how ecstatic they were that their reveal hadn't come out before E3 2015, and it really had an impact on me. Even press sneak fucks have empathy.

This is also a online service focused game a la The Division/Rainbow Six/For Honor/Ghost Recon IIRC.

Copy bump.

That makes sense. The longer they wait, the higher the chances of a leak.

Ubi seem better at retaining leaks than others given past E3s like watch dogs, division, wildlands etc, so why now?

Well, Rainbow Six: Siege is already a hero shooter, but they could certainly make more!

True, I just have a feeling it is going to be a MOBA Shooter like Battleborn, Paragon, Gogantic, or Overwatch (Though Overwatch is not a MOBA but it features heroes that have a lot of variety in attacks and abilities)

The Division leaked actually. It was the f2p Tom Clancy title referred to as Rogue.

Mind, the final game was neither f2p nor called Rogue (except in the game files), but it was still the same product.

Playing the game you can also probably see why it was called Rogue at first.

And you see Jason a few posts up mentioning he already knows what it is (though doesn't intend to leak it).

I don't actually hate that model I just find it kind of ironic that in the end it's probably more likely to shorten a games lifespan. Even though the model is designed to retain player interest, people are much less likely to play a dead online game than an old single player one.

I was interested for a second until I read it was focused on MP. The Division seems to have worked great for them, so I guess it's no surprise.

Ghost Recon won't be an RPG, so I don't see any such issues.

Siege is great. I want to know what multiplayer game they have next. They did a wonderful E3 last year. I'm expecting no less this year.

Now that you guys mention it... it would be about time for the pirate game to surface.
