Ubisoft's new Wii game: My word Coach (Come here Amir0x!)

Apparently it's a series of games.

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/my-life-coach/

In addition to adding new species to its popular Petz series, confirming that horse, cat and dog care sims would be coming to the Wii, Ubisoft revealed the first titles in its My Coach series. My Word Coach, which Ubi reports is "being developed in collaboration with linguists and will help players improve their verbal communication and vocabulary in a fun way" will hit the Nintendo DS and Wii this fall. Following that is My Life Coach for the Nintendo DS, a motivational personal coach for strengthening willpower.

Not sure if they're still banned or not.

Wrong platform?

Seriously, I understand the need for a DS version, but what´s the point on putting it on the Wii? We can barely write with the Wiimote!

Said so, totally in for the Ds version. Can´t have enough of these training games.

the thing is, these games (if successful) will fuel the bigger, more expensive projects like Assassin's Creed. I don't understand why the 360/PS3 fanboys would poke fun at this.

This could well be the most interesting, fun, and worthy title Ubisoft put out on a Nintendo console in a while. They are clearly intending to go hard after the casual/non-gamers on these two consoles. Let's just hope that they don't completely forget the more traditionnal/hardcore market on these console, like they unfortunately seem to be doing right now...

For the same reason Nintendo fanboys like me are poking fun at this: the interface is crap and it doesn't make sense as a Wii title.

This would definitely serve a purpose for Gaffers.

I do think publishers shouldnt tryso hard to mimic nintendo though, as these sorts of games are their bag. but then again one of these might be a hit and third parties stand to benefit hugely if it does. Plus it is probably another guaranteed sale to the wiisports/wiiplay crowd so its not a bad thing. We are still getting some pretty hardcore games announced like Rygar and Soul Calibur Legends and niGHTS 2 so Im not complaining. If anything Id say the mix is starting to resemble the variety Ps2 had, reaching all aspects of gaming, from casual to hardcore. thats the ticket to hitting that huge huge market Ps2 did.

This actually looks cool!

Though it's probably because I spent years researching learning objects / edutainment.

Am I the only person that thinks this sounds pretty cool? I'd pick it up it it were about $20. No one is even making a big deal out of the DS/Wii connectivity...

Yeah man I bet Ubisoft is gonna be all like "Hey, we made tons of profits on this console, lets gonna use this money to support the other console and avoid making games for the one that gave us this money in the first place!".

No one who lauds the imminent arrival of Wii Health should have the nerve to talk smack about this game.

You asked for this.

But Wii Health will probably something different, something new. This has "Brain Age Cash-in" written all over it.

That title is really awkward. I read it more like it would be used in a sentence such as:

"My word Coach, are you allowed to touch me like that?"

A health game makes sense on the Wii, plus I need the exercise. This is like the DS "walking training" games; I have no idea why it's on the system.

As long as this stuff is limited to systems that are positioned squarely in the goofy sector of the hardware market, everything is fine. It'd lick ass if developers would start ditching their more ambitious projects for the real systems in favor of this stuff.

I guarantee you that running outside is going to do better for you than any game could do.

well, if nintendumbs take to this as they've taken to nintendo's own nongames, perhaps we can look forward to a rise in the level of conversation around here

...though i suppose there's only so much vocabulary can do for "HUR HUR LOOK AT THE NEW SALES CHARTS"

Seriously it's not "for kids". This game is for everybody. Its made so it's ajustable to pretty much any vocabulary level.

I don't get it.

Who is this game meant to be for? It doesn't appear to have any of the fun attached to it that made Brain Training such a good formula. Sounds more like an expensive and rather ineffective piece of edu-software.

Are you being sarcastic? Sometimes you make these well written posts and sometimes they are not true :x

Anyway I won;t be getting this. Wtf some originality would be nice...and I can't see myself playing this on Wii. I'm waiting for Mario :(

The bitterness, it's overwhelming.

And let's be honest, you've never been interested in raising the level of conversation on GAF. All you're interested in is furthering the lame fanboy-ism and poisoning of the well that makes GAF such an unpleasant and stupid place at times.

You seem very angry, maybe you should try My stress coach

I'm actually quite interested in this. It seems like an interesting idea and I really like the DS Wii interactivity. Nice to see it's actually going to become a part of games.

I'm not sarcastic. Not my concern you believe me or not. Let's just say i'm better placed than you to know about that game. :P

I believe you. It's just that sometimes you go "I love Wii!" and then "I love Wii!" so it's hard to know.:lol

And I see that this thread is basically 1:1 read/write(I know). I wonder why that is...that many read/writes for a "brain age" game...and on a Nintendo console?

My god your beyond obsessed with nbots. You have been repeating this shit for years now man. It can only be funny for so long. Now its just creepy and terribly sad.

Quick, guys -- time to lambaste Ubisoft as the shittiest third party on Wii
for making the games it's only okay for Mother Miyamoto to make.

Yes, because Miyamoto was integral to Brain Age.

Games like these are ok coming from Nintendo because we know were going to get Nintendo games, but when Ubisoft say they are only making a limited number of Wii games and they waste one on this its disappointing.

This tells me that Ubisoft is making a profit from its Wii games (i.e. third parties).

See how I put positive spin on this most dire, dire news?

this is like telling a nurse in a casualty ward that he's morbid: it's not my temperament, it's my environment. it's remarkable that i post about anything besides the stupidity of nintendo fans -- you ought to be praising my restraint.
