Prepare for publisher exclusive digital stores. Goodbye Steam.
Goodbye Steam? lol

Actually, the offline mode has been removed for AC2 and possibly others (but only on the Steam version). You can edit a config file to allow it but when you go back online it overwrites it again.
I've never had a problem with offline Steam, no matter if my internet cuts off or if I don't go offline beforehand.
But I know that many do, just saying my piece.

They're still selling on steam. Nothing really changed here.
I found the service pretty irritating to use when I bought AC:R. There were times when I couldn't play the single player because the connection wouldn't work.
Well, even though you can buy the games from the same Store you will actually have to install X different clients and launch the games through them. In that sense it will change.
Oh really? That's interesting. I wonder why EA won't adapt in the same way.

The offline mode for uPlay is more reliable than Steam's, surprisingly.
i think we'll end up with these companies having their own systems
valve steam
ea origin
activision's cod-hub
ubisoft uplay
rockstar social club
offline mode has always crapped out on me with steam, i got it to work once but had to reinstall windows and since then it has never worked properly - steam forums suggest there was a widespread issue.
for something as important as that, i expect it to work flawlessly like it does with origin and uplay.
thankfully valve have sorted it out

most of that is gone, the launcher can be used in offline mode too so no
Another client? Can I register my keys I have from my Ubi games on Steam? Even Origin lets me do that.
How can I do that? I got Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 on Origin, how do I get those registered on Steam?
no he means that you can activate EA games you bought elsewhere (e.g. retail or on steam or another download service) on Origin.
You cant activate ea games on steam, and currently you cant activate ubi games purchased on steam or other download services on uplay - only retail keys seem to be accepted.
i cant even login to steam in offline mode right now, let alone play a game offline
if my net went out steam would be useless, while origin and this uplay thing will carry on functioning - valve need to get their shit together
at the end of the day its all DRM, i would switch to GOG in a heartbeat if they could secure the latest releases but thats just wishful thinking
Disconnect your router and disable network connections, Steam should open.
I don't expect them to pull support from Steam, they're not that stupid, but if they did then I'm prepared to never buy another Ubi game on PC. They treat us like garbage anyway, this is just another spit in the face.
Yeah yeah yeah. You say that now. In a year's time, when you're boycotting every publisher that has their own download client, and you're left with a Steam client with a bunch of aging PC games, Team Fortress 3 and random indie game tower defence FOTM part 8, you'll be thinking a little differently.
You say that as if we'd be playing other games if a TF3 comes out. Goodbye world.Yeah yeah yeah. You say that now. And I'll look forward to bringing this comment back a year from now like all of the doomsday ones when EA broke off a year ago. Steam's bigger than ever and Origin is next to irrelevant, they have to force popular games to use it just to keep it alive.
You're assuming people will still buy games in the future (or companies still sell them).Gentleman Jack said:The silver lining is that it'll take so long for Ubisoft to release on PC that nobody will care or buy from their store.
