Agreed. Kinda bugs me, too.It is bothering my OCD that the picture of Chris in the above picture isn't a side-shot of his character model.
Hopefully UDON brings some of the hardcovers to PAX Prime!

Yeah there is.Is there a thread for high resolution art work? Stuff that is normally used for journalists?

Not usually. I don't think any of the Capcom art books have ever been released digitally. So, as somebody completely ignorant to the way this stuff works, I don't suppose these artbooks are ever released in a digital, hi-res format, are they? I mean, I can think of one really good reason why they wouldn't be (saves pirates the work of having to scan them themselves), but I figured I'd ask.
Thanks for the heads up!It's only 28 bucks on Amazon right now so I pre-ordered.
I'd prefer the hardcover but not if I have to go to a convention and pay $70 more.
Udon? Crap art?
Is this a joke?
I wouldn't call it crap, but Udon's art style is extremely unappealing to me. Obviously the biggest turn off for me was their work on Street Fighter II HD. That game looked so goddamn ugly.
Finished thumbing through the hardcover last night and came across some character design notes. I wasn't expecting them and they are pretty cool. I'm assuming the notes where in Japanese but translated for the book. Just another reason why you should by it if you haven't yet.
Better that than Falcoon. *shudder*
I wasn't interested in this artbook until you posted these; they're great! How many pages of this stuff is in the book? Also, could you estimate the proportion of pages japanese artists vs udon artists get in the book? I'm only really interested in the Japanese side, since they were actually involved in the production of the game, whether on the design or promotional side of things. The udon stuff can be nice, but it's just well done fan art, really -- i'd prefer all of it to be in a separate book.
Most of it is official Capcom art from each of the games indicated. There's a section for Udon and other artists that more of an homage section, but the majority of it is art created out of Japan. The design notes and sketches section is pretty small, maybe 10 pages off the top of my head.
