UFC Legend Anderson Silva tests positive for steroids

He was never the "GOAT", that's just the UFC hype machine trying to force that label down people's throats.

His whole career is in question right now IMO with a BIG asterisk.

Who was/is? Fedor and GSP seem to be the other options. Jon Jones is clearly the greatest fighter of all time right now, of course.

Maybe for some. Not for me. Coming off his injury, I have no hard time believing he never used PEDs before, then was injured and took PEDs in preparation for this fight. Still dumb, but not enough to destroy what he has done.

GSP GOAT? No just no lol. GOAT of lay and pray maybe dude was one of the more boring champs. Silva still the GOAT.

haha, that just shows how confident Nick is.

I'm sure he would care though. That's lost money if he would have won.

He wont care if Anderson was on PEDs. He'll care if UFC knew about the test results but let Anderson fight anyway. He only gets mad at 'the man'.

Ronda, as someone who is in the fight business, and is constantly immersed in the culture, from training to fight night, how prevalent do you think drug use really is?

Is it awesome that Ronda's enough of a geek that there is like a 1% chance that's actually her?

He's tested between each fight; that said, I think this is the first time Silva's been out of competition since 1997 though.

It would be weird for this to be his first time, but, for what he got busted for - he would have gotten caught long ago. These aren't steroids that are particularly good at avoiding detection.

"In-competition" is defined as the 12 hours before a fight, to the time a fighter is tested directly after the fight. This is normal procedure.

"Out-of-competition" is any other time while licensed to compete, in which "random" testing is (very rarely) conducted.

So to say he's tested between each fight is unlikely. I can't find one example previous to this positive test.

It's no wonder he started taking them. He was feeling mortal. You can tell how mentally broken and afraid he was of losing by how much he cried after the Nick Diaz fight. Sad end to a career, now forever tarnished with no one knowing for sure just how long he was juicing for that increased speed and power. The sad end of an era. Thank god we have Connor Mcgreggor now to carry the sport on his back.

Also worth noting, there was no random drug testing for Silva's last 2 fights, which were both in Nevada against Chris Weidman.

Hey, at least someone's wondering.

There's a chance it was some medication, he was recovering from that injure and everything, but I wouldn't be that surprised if he really did it

Anyway, that's fucked up, he's an idol here in Brazil, children look up to him

Nah, he tested positive for two different types of steroids. You should know how easy it is in Brazil to get any kind of steroid, especially for someone as rich and famous as Anderson.

He probably started up as soon as he was out of surgery to help with the muscle and recovery, strengthen leg quicker, maintain strength and power, lean muscle mass.

Well he was undefeated for an awful long time, and punked my man Rich Franklin like it was nothing :(

This IS a woman who used to moderate at major pokemon forums. :-p

Does UFC have records of who was tested when? I know technically UFC doesn't do it, the state commissions do...no way someone who has been fighting as long as Silva hasn't been tested dozens of times out of competition...right?

While I understand the skepticism, GAF is fairly strict about impersonators. And we actually have a number of celebrities posting here that are perhaps more high profile than Rousey.

Ronan Farrow (look him up) posted here for many years before GAF was even a slither of the size it is today. You newbs know nothing of GAF's history. :p

There is no such thing as the GOAT.

Also, come on his record isn't tarnished. No one will care much about this in a few weeks, let alone years from now.

steroids are not just about gaining muscle mass they are mostly used for healing purposes, it speeds up the recovery process, the dude needed help with recovery, whether it was for his leg or something else, i really dont know nor do i care

edit: can they disqualify him and give diaz the prize money?

are you actually an alpha snake?

Shocking news.

Oh well, its not like he hasn't made bank already. Time to let the younger men with their newer, harder to detect steroids take over. Its the natural pro-sports cycle.

Are you joking? People were already upset he showboated and got TKO'ed the first fight against Weidman. Then, he broke his leg and people said he's done, he has no chance. He then took a fight against Nick Diaz (laughable) in his big comeback, "itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again" commercials, and then he is caught positive testing for two steroids? He used to speak out against fighters on steroids and yet he takes them himself. He's done. Tarnished his entire legacy. Now the question becomes, how often was he juicing and getting away with it.

All those saying it's to help with recovery, I'm sure every fighter needs help with recovery when you spend 4 months breaking down your body to prepare. If you cannot recover or fight without several cycles of steroids, stay retired or don't fight.

Recovery from a broken leg... Steroids are legitimately prescribed for this.

Which HW is better?

It can't be Cain. By the time he ends up fighting, it will be a likely 2 year layoff. 9 years into is career he has 14 fights. Too inactive.

Would Cain be the GOAT if he fought guys like Valavicius, Fujita, Goodridge, Coleman, Randleman, Ogawa, Nagata, TK, Zulu, Lindland, Hong Man Choi, and Brett Rogers on a regular basis?

I love that people STILL bring up Ronan Farrow as a big "celebrity poster." I think he was 15 at the time and got banned for a meltdown left of his own accord apparently.

Gary Whitta is probably the biggest, but he was actually a games magazine editor I think, and only became a successful Hollywood screenwriter afterwards.

Did Zelda Williams ever post, or just lurk?

For my money Rousey would be the biggest celeb!

Oh wait, Curt Schilling used to post here!

Okay, biggest *active* is Rousey. (I bet it's just a fan tho, Rousey probably posts under an alias if at all)

Yeah, but he would have needed to clear it with whateve governing body, first. There are fighters in the UFC that were medically cleared to use TRT in the past.

He wasn't banned. He left the forum voluntarily. He had been banned here and there for small things, but nothing lengthy.

Anyways, if the Ronda Rousey account is a fake then the person behind it is going through great lengths to keep the charade up with the posts being made.

Well, has anyone straight up asked her? Ronda are you for real and can you prove it?

People will literally think the only thing that made him competitive were the roids. I hate how there's just so much misinformation about using steroids. It's a shame.

wait what? Ronda Rousey posts here?

Possibly. First post of page 3.

I just sent her a PM asking if it's really her. And if it is, to post a a minor spoiler from Entourage relating to her role in the movie.
