Ufouria coming to VC! Thanks Vic

Ufouria is a great game! I had tons of fun with it back in the NES days. Very nice graphics, EXCELLENT music and very interesting gameplay. Kinda like a simplified Metroid with lots of quirks. And you can change characters (who each have vastly different characteristics) on the fly. Only downside was the stupid password system where you had to draw a huge grid and fill in the squares with three or four different colours. I have two or three of it in my NES collection. You know, just in case.

And please, please release Mr. Gimmick! It's in many ways my favourite Sunsoft-game for the NES. The graphics rival Kirby's Dreamland, and the music is damn good (again). The stages are very varied and imaginative. It has a brilliant "weapon" that can be used both to take out foes and to get to seemingly impossible-to-reach ledges... if you're good enough. It's hard to master to say the least, but oh so satisfying. I've never seen anything quite like it in any platformer since. The game is very, very hard, though, so a VC-release with save-states might help me get through it at last. I have two or three of this game too. Complete games go for A LOT to collectors.
Sort of ( albeit very easy and short ):

Vic, will EU/US get the Mr. Gimmick version, with the FME-7 soundtrack cut to MMC3?
Well, there is a PAL version out there already and an NTSC prototype is out there as well, so I would assume (and hope hope hope) that they'll use those to release it on VC. Uforuia is awesome and I'm going to get it despite having the cart, but Mr. Gimmick was just too out of my price range to get a physical copy of.

It's a shame if the rest of the world will not experience Gimmick! with the enhanced FME-7 soundtrack. The EU version sounds so... bleak when compared to the JP version.

:lol :lol

Oh fuck, what a coincidence, just booted the NES with a friend one night this week and he had Ufouria (he said that he loved it as a child) so we played the game and it was very good.
A very fun platforming Metroid.
Loved how he automatically remembered where the things were even if he didnt know why and hadnt play the games like in more than 15 years.

The character animations are really awesome, very very fun to look at.

Unfouria is already available in the EU shop, isn't it?
Yes !!!
Finally bought it from the Wii Shop.
I need help.
I'm in the far east part of the map where there is a pit with a water-tap.
it is suggested to open the tap so to fill the pit but I don't know how I could do it.
I'm not sure if I miss something or if I should be in another area.

Currently I have the ghost, the orange critter and Louie of course.

I've heard a lot about Ufouria and always wanted to try it. Thank god there are people within the industry that care this much about what gamers want, even if it might not be an incredibly lucrative prospect. I'll be supporting this for sure.

Technical issues being hashed out on that. Not clear yet.
That would be crazy cool but if it can't be pulled off, please don't let it deter you guys from releasing the version out there.

The game is SO good.

I find disturbing that no one is getting excited by Aero the Acrobat... The damn Sunsoft mascot!

There are plenty of people who love it, which is why it's coming to VC - fan requests. It was near the top of the fan-requests list. I think the polarizing part about the game is that until you get used to the play mechanic (spin-flying rather than jumps) it can be a pretty punishing game. Most people have trouble with the Circus area, but if you make it through that, you'll probably finish because the spin-flying becomes more second-nature.

And yes, Hebereke was the Sunsoft Japan mascot and Aero was the US side. Maybe I should have called the promotion "Mascot Summer" instead... :)

Loved this game as a kid. Talked to my cousin about it a few weeks ago and the week after it comes out on the european vc store :) Thanks for letting me play it again.

So how is it getting made? Are you just taking the EU ROM and running it in 60hz or have you had to edit it in some way to get it to work?

Just got back the answer that it is indeed the EU version. The music speed difference is only about 10% so for most people who've never played it, they probably won't even notice.

Yup, it was released in Europe, but not the US.

Same as Mr. Gimmick (but that was limited to Scandinavia).

i knew gimmick! was released in europe, but not hebereke. :lol

Completed the game.
What a marvelous experience, thanks Vic/Sunsoft.

Last boss was a letdown though.
I expected you needed to use all four to defeat him but that wasn't the case.

Now I'm crossing the fingers for Mr Gimmick
and Cosmic Fantasy 3
