UK charts: Mario Kart debuts + another great week for PSP releases

Looks like GAF is drawing a line in the sand and calling Ntards out..? That's...just...typical...

Nfans unite!

Band of Brothers indeed
Why is it that Nintendo fans act as if GAF is always oppressing them or some shit? Hell, the last few months have seen Nintendo fans constantly rubbing shit in the faces of everyone in nearly every single thread created about the PSP or PSP games. :p

It is just the way that the UK gaming scene has gone. You have your PC Gaming scene, you have your Casual Gamers (ALL Sony) and then you have the rest using GC, XB and DS.

Are you seriously claiming that non-casual gamers don't play PS2 and PSP? If so, then you're utterly delusional.

Yep. They keep saying the PSP has no games. Why, I don't know. The game in your avator is a good example of what's to come on the PSP.

WHO does? Ntards? Who? Point them out. Where are they in this thread? What have they done thats so bad?

Andy787 made the assumption that everyone lambasting UK taste in this thread was a Nintendo fan, which I know for a fact isn't true. Is it meant to mean anything coming from such an obvious bastion of well mannered impartiality? Constant moaning about Nintendo fans, each post replete with Loco Roco avatar? I actually think thats one of the PSP games a lot of Nintendo fans will find irresistable by the way. I have nothing against whatever anyone here likes, but all this pissing and moaning about console/manufacturer allegiance, and the inference that liking any one of them can make a person (or their posts) stupid/retarded by default... its pretty fucking tired. A minority of stupid people may well make stupid posts from time to time. Sometimes perfectly intelligent people let their form slip too. Then theres confrontational people making argumentative posts (for kicks I assume). Fair play to you if thats how you get off... I'm not getting involved in any of that shit. But I will say:

For every Nintendo fan thats supposedly highly visible and unashamedly biased, theres a bunch of hardcore Sony fans and those with a resolute dislike for Nintendo here too. All fanboy shit stinks like any other shit. You don't necessarily need to be a Nintendo fan to reek of it.

Handhelds have never been that popular in the UK and have always had weird/low software sales. I remember Mario Advance was outsold by Sonic Advance here. I'd like to see hardware sales.

Expect to see the hardware gap widen. :)

Yup, we got around 30 PSP in after weeks of nothing. But, to be fair, DS is in short supply, and Nintendogs is sold out everywhere :lol

Don't forget that there were 12,000 Mario Kart bundles sold as well as the 25,000 units of software which don't count in the chart (a la Nintendogs bundles). Mario Kart sales are also looking like they'll increase this week too. For a console with an installed base of only around 600k, 25k on launch day is not bad and you can't really compare against an all formats release realistically.

P.S. -

DS : 54,500 units (although demand was for around 80,000, Nintendogs bundle almost completely out of stock)
PSP : 57,000 units (again - restricted stock apparently)
GBA/Micro : 37,000 units

Wow, some fantastic numbers there!!

Do you know how much Nintendogs has sold in total / this week then? (including bundles)

Also, I have DS installed base at around 653k now (which ties in with what you said) and PSP around 530k- that look about right?

Looks like it's gonna be a great xmas for Nintendo, and we haven't even seen Japan's numbers this week yet (100k is a cert)...

I told you Threepio was a good sport. Next week is going to be really interesting - will PSP and DS outsell X360 during its launch week? Stay tuned. :D

Woah, these numbers are amazing! And DS/PSP would have even sold more when more stock would've been available!? The UK market seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

Would be great if it happened :lol

If the initial shipment is about 300k the UK should get about 70k+ (and perhaps as much as 100k) so it could be a tough fight :D

so wait... neither DS nor PSP is blowing the other system out of the water? HOW THE FUCK CAN WE KEEP FIGHTING IF NEITHER SIDE IS CLEARLY WINNING!!?!?!?!???

I want a recount.

Allegedly, the initial shipment is ~50k. Should be really interesting.

Well, Gaybrush proved me dead wrong. Thanks for the numbers man. :)

Looks good for all the handhelds really. GBA/Micro is selling better in Europe than in Japan on a weekly basis. I can't wait to see what happens when more Nintendogs bundles and PSPs are shipped. Fireworks indeed.

There's always the fallback "no good games" position that's been a favored standby for you :)

There we go, How can X360 outsell either PSP or DS when its capped upon release. 50 k is pathetic, i hoped that MS would allocate at least 100k

ahhhh.. thanks.. was worried there for a minute. ;)

though if any of the (good) RPGs ever come over here from Japan that one will go away also. :)

Looks like GTA flopped.

The rest of europe does get gta this friday, I couldn't care any less.

sequel is supposed to come out next year. :/

Edit: didn't realize that the xbox360 is comming out this friday (in europe) as well. :lol

Thanks, Gaybrush Threepio! Especially thanks for telling us how many Nintendogs/Mario Kart bundles were sold! :D

As compiled from last week's thread ...

Code:
Week GBA/GBM NDS PSP
Oct 9-15 8,799 24,492 18,723
Oct 16-22 10,034 23,035 8,000
Oct 23-29 15,500 30,000 12,900
Oct 30-Nov 5 25,000 35,000 16,000
Nov 6-12 32,000 40,000 12,000
Nov 13-19 34,000 44,000 62,000
Nov 20-26 37,000 54,500 57,000

Note: Oct 9-15 was the first week that NDS outsold PSP since the PSP's release, according to Gaybrush Threepio.

Looks like the PSP's peak last week wasn't mereyl pent-up demand from weeks earlier.
I can't see how that is entirely true. a 5K drop a week closer to the holidays? unless supplies were still depleted at the stores.

i'd have to agree, DS has increased and PSP has decreased.

GBA also increased (albeit by only 3K).

edit - I see he does say restricted stock apparently for PSP.. so again this week probably isn't the best example of any case as it could be.

Or are you suggesting otherwise? :)

Mario Football outselling PE5 is more than a little strange. Just goes to show how wildly the charts vary throughout Europe.
Mario football for GC outselling PE5 for PSP isn't strange at all.
GC has been out how many more years than PSP and has how many more systems base?

Looks like Sony's biggest problem is themselves again like Japanese launch.
Not enough units is gonna kill them. Where the hell are the 2.45 million PSPs they say they shipped back on Oct 21?
IF it's an artificial shortage, they're shooting themselves in the foot to try and overwhelm the X360. It would be hillarious if MS was also pretending to have a shortage for Europe and actually shipped a couple hundred K X360s for launch in UK. :lol
