I don't think it would bother me at all, it just doesn't happen, I don't think I look very old or anything, some facial hair so maybe that's it. I'm 22 also, so older than most third year uni students would be.

You aren't allowed to having driving lessons without a provisional license. I will be containing the proper authorities and having you apprehended for your sins.

Well maybe it's just to do with being in London, you might get ID'd more in smaller towns.

Edit: As for learning to drive, get a friend to take you to a large parking lot at night and show you some basic clutch control. Once you learn that driving isn't as difficult as you think, I'm doing lessons myself at the moment. Just go for it and get it out the way as soon as possible.

:lol :lol

I'm not actually getting professional driving lessons yet - just my Dad showing me in the ropes in car parks and the like. But yes, I'm sure thats also illegal too.

In Quebec (Canada), the Health-Care ID card is free.
The driver's license being a privilege and not a right requires a bi-yearly fee.
Canadian Passport good for 5 years, usual normal fee of I don't remember $70 some bucks.

I don't see what the big deal is; every place requires ID.

if you intend to live, work and travel; just get your ass together and aquire the propper IDs, passports, citizen ID cards.

I have lived in Canada all my life and I still renew my Portuguese ID card and Passports for the heck of it because hey you never know when a job opportunity in Europe may prop up.

Thank you stuburns :)

I do want to learn how to drive
I don't want to learn how to drive.

I mean, I've taken a few lessons and I really really don't like it. I wish I could wake up tommorow and know how to do it. This is another topic, but how do I get over my OVERWELHMING anxiety towards driving a vehicle?

Just play some racing games. It works the same, more or less.

I hated this. Ended up getting one of those CitizenCards.

Don't have a passport because my mum is a whore.
Don't have a provisional because I don't intend to drive for a looong time.
And I'm a poor bastard.

My college card ain't worth shit either.

I don't think that's true, mine's out in '13, and I got it '03.

Same, mine's out this year. In fact, all of the new photo IDs run out after some period of time. Government gotta keep them ÂŁÂŁÂŁ rolling in....

This isn't America.

But seriously, how do you get to 20 with no passport and no driving licence?
Passports aren't life long. For me, it ran out a few months ago and I'm not getting a new one until I'm planning to leave the country because there is no reason to do so.

I always try to keep one, never know when you my fancy a quick getaway.

I've never had a passport. With my mum's condition, going overseas would be a big ball ache all round, and I havn't had any reason to go myself, yet.

But hey, I wanna get into games journalism and I heard all the best games are made in JAPAAAAN. Glorious nippon here I come!! Kawaii! Leave you baka gaijins in the dust.

They don't take long to get, in fact you can get them on the day at a few places if you're willing to pay a premium.

But because they expire if I buy one today, and not use it for two years, it's just a waste of two years of passport, I could buy one when I need it and get maximum use out of it before I need to renew it.

But you have had one. I just find it weird that people have never had one, particularly in such a small country.

How are you 20 years old with no identification?

Have you ever had a job?
Been abroad?
Opened up an "adult" bank account?
I'm pretty sure enroling for university you need ID?
And renting a flat?

You're 20 years old, get a fucking passport! it's like ÂŁ7 per year, and it will allow you to do things!

20 years old!! Your Mum will allow you to take a girl to Venice for the weekend!

Don't waste your money on one of the "prove it" type cards. Lots of places won't accept them and they're not obliged to. Passport or provisional drivers license is the way to go... as a bonus they're useful for other things. I'm 26 and I still occasionally get ID'd.

To be fair dude, you should have a provisional driving license at the age of 20 at the very least. May as well buy one now rather than later.

Alternatively, grow a beard and tuck your shirt into your trousers.

<edit>
Oh, and ask for an Ale that you know they wont have, that way they'll assume you're old. When they say "oh, we don't have that" just say "oh, okay, I'll just have a jd with coke then please" :D

You guys don't have government issued ID's over there? Just the other day I went to go get a Liquor ID specifically to prove I was over 21 here in Massachusetts. Cost me $25.

Youre defending that shit?

"Hi, were Massachusetts, and we have a state IDS that costs 25$....but some people may not accept it, so youll have to pay 35$ for a liquor ID thats exactly the same but says liquor on it"

provisional licenses are almost mandatory by 18 around here, how else are you going to get into a club without photo id?!

Prov license is the way to go. Mines out of date (got it when I was 17, still cant drive at 22 :lol ) cheaper to lose than a passport is another way to look at it.

Also those Ids you can buy for a tenner are rubbish, any half decent shop/club/bar will not accept it along with student ID.

oh and nothing other than buying knifes (kitchen) booze and cigarettes requires ID by law of the top of my head. Maybe aerosols and lighters but thats not really enforced atall.

My 23 year old friend was asked for ID when buying matches.

Nanny states are hilarious

I got ID'd buying vodka last year. Surprised the shit out of me. The dude let it slide and gave me the stuff though. Bearded 6'7" dudes like me can get that shit done.
