Isn't the problem mostly on mobile phones though?

I'm not as deluded as I make myself out to be
I bet it's cos these Tory bastards are run by media companies and media companies want a way to monetise British porn viewing public.

Media companies are generally also the biggest ISPs in the UK and they're going to get shafted with the costs of actually implementing this. I doubt they're on board with these new laws at all.

Going to have to try that next. NordVPN has been good for most things, but for some reason it's shit for the BBC, which I use a lot.
It's definitely a case of YMMV when it comes to these VPNs. You need to find one that works for you. Thankfully there are plenty out there.

So I've been trying out ExpressVPN,

For reference this is my normal internet connection,

If I plug the settings into my router directly for an OpenVPN connection, so basically my entire connection is on VPN even if the device doesn't support a VPN client, this was what I got when using their Amsterdam ovpn config,

So big big drop.

If I install the Windows client though and run that on the Amsterdam location, I get this,

Definitely better than the OpenVPN settings, but I was hoping for something a lot closer to my disconnected connection speed really.
Am I being unrealistic? Is the above probably about the best I could really hope for when connecting using a VPN? I know 65 aint too bad but we're still talking a third of my regular speed.

Listening to Newsbeat this morning, the story of the thousands of people petitioning against the new £5 notes gets coverage over any mention of the 130k signatures trying to repeal the IP Bill.

Not really surprised but it's interesting as Newsbeat serves as some Millennials' only real news source.

So, brb using imagination because no video?

For all you people in past porn threads that went "lol why download porn?" This is why! Thing I don't understand is, as far as I'm aware, that opt-out porn block is still in effect (I remember turning it off). So parents already have a viable way to stop their kids from watching it. So why the blanket ban?

Because it's not about what children watch, it's about what adults watch this time.

Don't be surprised when it becomes about what adults do.

This and the attacks on privacy have switched me to vote Lib Dem.

Problem with the Lib Dems is that it is hard to trust them when they went back on so many of their promises when they joined the coalition. They're saying the right things at the moment but you wonder how much of it they actually believe or if they're just trying to repair their own image.

Received this email today from Open Rights Group

Today, the House of Lords will debate the Digital Economy Bill for the second time.

We hope that they have listened to you and thousands of others who have signed our petition about web blocking. As you know, there are major issues with this Bill which if passed in its current state could mean that anyone who visits porn or erotica websites could put their privacy at risk.

This is because of unworkable proposals that will try and force sites to apply age verification. If porn sites don’t apply age verification, ISPs will be told to block them. This could potentially affect thousands and thousands of legal websites.

You can watch the debate here. The session starts at 2.30pm but the debate on the Digital Economy Bill will be much later. We’re guessing around 4pm.

I know many of us UK folk's attention is currently divided between Brexit and Trump, but we really need to get on this garbage.

The BBFC is currently employing countless people to censor the internet. The criteria for employment? A 1,500 word essay about 'the challenges involved in regulating online pronography'. Really.

More at the Open Rights Group site here: https://www.newgovernmentjobs.co.uk/how-it-works.

If you're in the UK and have a sec, please take the time to sign and oppose this crap.

I still can't get over how obvious this was as a distraction from the news of paedos in government, and it worked.

I can't get over how our media - all of it, not just right or left oriented - is so easily distracted by composing 90 thought pieces about hard/soft/red,white,blue/rock-hard Brext every day instead of the dangerous erosion of our rights perpetrated by May's government.

The million+ petition for keeping Trump out was great and all, but that attention should be on the Snoopers Charter and this.
