Unannounced Platinum Game Coming to E3 (IGN)

I'll never understand why so many people think Metroid and Platinum is a good idea...Platinum is all about frenetic-fast gameplay, something that doesn't suit Metroid at all unless you want Another M.

As much as some might whine about the story and progression in Other M, the movement and battle system were pretty great and the former in particular was way more in line with 2D Metroid than the Primes.
Also, Kamiya had an amazing Zelda clone and made one of the best Resident Evils, I'm sure he or others at Platinum could make a good Metroid (not that I'd actually want this though - however, it'd be nice if they made something similar to that again, after all these character action titles).

Yeah, considering that Platinum's staff is the same that made games like Okami I think they can pull off a Metroid game that uses something similar to Other M for the combat.

Still it isn't the game in question because I don't believe Nintendo wouldn't announce a Metroid game in his presentation leaving it instead to an IGN off event.

If that were true then Bayo 2 should have been a blockbuster hit that topped all sales charts last year.

There are more factors to a game selling than how well it's built, sadly.

appealing artstyle, characters and world, with a high metracritic score, usually means pretty good sales, imo those are all shit in Bayonetta 2, and that's why it doesn't sell. games actually have to look cool and appealing for people to want to play them, and Bayonetta just doesn't have that, no matter how great the reviews are, or how great the gameplay is.

Bayonetta 2 didn't sell amazingly well because it's on a system with a much smaller install base and it doesn't fit anywhere into the "dude bro" style of games which are the games that make high sales.

Wondering what the odds are of it being The Wonderful 102.

Not very likely but if Nintendo were really happy with the game it seems like a possibility that they bankrolled a sequel to come out three years after initial release.

Okami had all of the three and still sold like shit. There's not a lot of accounting for taste, and the first Bayonetta sold pretty well with all three also accounted for, which Bayonetta 2 followed up on. Just because you personally didn't like it doesn't mean most people who actually played it didn't like what was there. You're raising a narrative that you end up contradicting with your own opinion being representative of everyone else.

Bayonetta was on ps3/360, still sold like shit. is bloodborne and witcher 3 dude bro shooter, games with a high metracritic, and have appealing artstyle, characters and world like BB and witcher 3 always seem to sell just fine.

Has anyone mentioned yet that hashimoto from platinum retweeted Nintendo of japan in relation to their e3 plans?

Could that relate to this news?

On the Wii U? I doubt there's a massive amount of sales to be had from that sort of aesthetic there, given the type of third party games which have managed a modicum of success on it. Bayonetta 2 wouldn't have sold that much better on any other platform - a current generation and PC port may have allowed it to hit 500k, though.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the gameplay is good either - it's a shallow button masher with no inherent worth, like everything else Platinum makes. The grating music, irritating stereotypical characters, self-indulgent, incoherent direction and hideous garish art only further amplify the revulsion most consumers would harbor towards it. I'm astonished Sega even let them start working on a sequel before it was cancelled initially.

A Captain Falcon game would have sold better than Bayonetta 2.

And would have been one of the greatest games of all time.

I mean... that's certainly an opinion. But I don't think it's one that most of Gaf would share.

You might want to check Bayonetta 2's metacritic. Brace youself, son.

EDIT: Oh shit, I just realized it's ninjablade, wasn't even paying attention. Nevermind, there's nothing to see here folks, just ignore it and it will fade away.

With it being outside a conference, the timing and the re tweet my best guess (that I don't feel very strongly about) is a Bayonetta expansion starring Jeane. Sold at retail for $30.

It would explain how its a gameplay reveal as it would simply be announced during the Direct.

Bayonetta is shallow button masher? Bayonetta had one of the deepest combat in action character games and no way any one can do all these complicated and deep combos with mashing the button

hell you can never beat Father Rodin with mashing buttons either

even the weakest enemies have like infinite poise that can not be broken by mushing one button.

I want to see someone who says you can beat Bayonetta by button mashing fight those 2 dogs with the armored heads.

I'm hoping its Bayonetta 3 or something completely original again like W101.

But it's way too soon for Bayonetta 3 to be announced, 2 hasn't even been out for a year yet. And Bayonetta isn't an annual series so it would just be weird to announce 3 this soon.

I know this is just a common phrase, but my mind jumped straight to Joseph Joestar.

Plus, like, the first part is Phantom Blood, the series has a lot of blood/vampires and one villain was/had a power called "King Crimson." So those could explain the "red" post. I know all signs point to Viewtiful Joe, but I think I just hyped myself up for a Platinum-made JoJo's Bizarre Adventure game. Again.

It probably has more chance of it being a JoJo game than a Viewtiful Joe one.

I honestly can't tell sometimes when some of you are joking around or being serious. We all surely know there's like 0% chance of this being DMC5 or a Viewtiful Joe game or any Capcom property, right?

Even if it was Bayo 3 would it even be in a playable state when Hashimoto said his next project started early development in late December?
