I figured it was best to create a new thread about it since bumping one named New Uncharted Trailer (posted by jiggle) would probably prove unpopular.
Seems like the trailer was wildly overlooked at E3 with all the biggies like KZ2, Halo 3, Rockband..etc.
I find this trailer more interesting than the Gamers Day one.

I was juggling through all the big PS3 gameplay trailers from E3 and among all the games releasing this fall be that HS, UT3, R&C it just seems to me that Uncharted is on top of the food chain visually, it looks insane (and really fun). It's Saturday night, let's share some Uncharted love. Here's some other videos:

I'm really looking forward to Uncharted, but the shooting stuff still feels clumsy to me.
They have commented on it and supposedly they're adding 'gravity'(slight auto aim) to it in time for the final game so I wouldn't worry.

Ya this is a no-brainer purchase. I've loved everything Naughty Dog has touched with the exception of Jak X which was alright. But I imagine while they were building that game the majority of the team was busying with Uncharted.

I really hope Uncharted turns out as good as it looks. The graphics, concept and story all look absolutely awesome, deifnitely different to all the other regurgitated crap out there at the moment, but unfortunately so far the gameplay has looked uninspiring IMHO. It seems to borrow elements from games like Prince of Persia, Gears of War and Tomb Raider but then it doesn't look like it actually lives up to any of them. EDIT: No actually, it definitely exceeds Tomb Raider, sorry! /EDIT. I desperately want to be proved wrong though (sooner rather than later), so go on ND, release a demo!

Well in that case, all is good. Still hope there's an emphasis on platforming and exploring since that's the main draw for me.

Though honestly, I could buy this due to graphics alone (these are shrank down obviously, didn't want to start destroying tables so early on)

One of the best looking consoles games coming imo, definitely in the top 5 if not top 3. Day one purchase for me.

The graphics are absolutely phenomenal. They look bright, colourful, appealing and detailed without looking either too realistic or too cartoony. They've got that spot-on.

I wished more games were like this one.

I'm really missing epic adventure games.

Well you'll have to pray that this is a major success. It only takes one successful game to start a genre war. For example, last gen thanks to the success of GTA and Halo, we've been swamped with sandbox and FPS games. If Uncharted is anywhere near the success of either of those two franchises, you can hope to be swamped with adventure games :)

It's pretty much an about-face from their last two or three shitty games (three, if you're counting Jak X). Though I doubt Naughty Dog's ability to make a quality game ever since what happened five years back, I do admire the fact that they're using vibrant colors. That seems to be a rarity these days among the more realistic stuff.

That e3 trailer and climbing video was really fluent and impressive. The shooting video was not, I was expecting the guy to hug the wall and take cover but he didn't seem to know how and he made the gun combat look very clumsy. I think I've only seen one video that showed good shooting.

It looks like you have to stand still when shooting, and be accurate.

I hope they take the Gears approach, or similar, where you just pull the left trigger to zoom in but you can still walk around (albeit slightly slower).

The combat system is a exact replica of Gears when you're in cover mode (press O). Also when you're aiming free foot. The difference is when you're not in cover or holding down the aim button as you will be able to freely move/jump/climb/hip shoot just like a Jak & Daxter game.

This, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank and Heavenly Sword (along with Sigma and Resistance) is forcing me to "jump in" before MGS4, feels like there's finally going to be enough stuff on there to justify a purchase... now I only need the cash...

I will lose a lot of interest if there is no supernatural element to the game... Or something more than just pirates and a treasure hunt. Have they ever hinted at this?

Also whoever was playing that was terrible, and didn't even realise you could use cover. They need to fix up the animation for slight movements too, I hate his abrupt stop animation when you're just moving him an inch

Well the first trailer spoke of a 'ancient curse' so I would be surprised if that wasn't the case. And this is a hands-down pulp story so it's definitely to be expected.

Apparently Drake gets sucked up by a UFO in the bermuda triangle and the rest of the game takes place in Space.

Wollan why are you saying that like youÂ’re scared from something ? itÂ’s the truth ,say it with more confidence ;)

anyway, somebody should ask ND about the music in this game, I really like what Mutato Muzika have done with Crash and Jak & Daxter,I hope theyÂ’re making a comeback for Uncharted.

ugh wtf. thats the appeal of this game. a simple everyday man caught up in trouble in faraway jungle. we dont need any supernatural stuff.

The composer for Uncharted is the guy that composed the Firefly movie.

That's so dull that it's criminal. They need some form of supernatural tie in, even if it's just for the sake of awesome bosses.

well then i think you've got the wrong game. go play heavenly sword or something

You really want to come face with the same pirates all the way through? Sorry but that's just not interesting enough. This game needs that little bit of extra spice to make it complete

yes and maybe he can team up with jak and daxter but instead they look like humans and you have to get rid of bad aliens from the jungle who live in an aztec temple and he wakes up and its all a dream????

I don't want Aliens, but if they don't do something with the fact that it's in the middle of Bermuda then it's wasted material

Again, the first trailer hinted about a ancient curse. The whole game will most likely be very Indiana Jones in it's direction.

Supernatural like Lost?

This along with inFamous and R&C are my most anticipated Sony published games.

That's next-gen right there.

Don't you mean kill.switch?

Har har

This is my most anticipated game of the year. I never even played any of the Jak or Crash games, it's just this title that seems so appealing to me. I really like the whole package from the graphics, platforming, cover shooting, and so on. I have high hopes so I hope ND can pull it off.

It's not the Bermuda Triangle, it's set on a "little island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean" per that opening cinematic.

The whole game actually takes place in various locations apparently and isn't just locked down to this island. I'm not sure if the stuff shown though is at the beginning of the game or later on.

I dunno about that, would seem a weird location. They did say they were "on the trail" of it, and they've suggested multiple areas like Wollan said.

The original trailer had a map of the Bermuda area, so did the website. Plus I don't see why Spanish Ruins would appear in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, nor why Francis Drake would've been out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for that matter. But that island is strange either way, like why on Earth is there ship wrecked Nazi submarine there on the edge of a waterfall?

They're also looking for El Dorado, which is South America at least

Just saying, everything that's been shown about this game so far appears to take place on this one island, which happens to be in the Pacific, not the Atlantic. Certainly could be off the coast of South America.

Anyway, more to the point, I understand the trepidation over the fairly "normal" look of the characters/settings but good pulp fiction starts with those. If it plays out like Rundown or Cryptonomicon, the story can still be intriguing and interesting in an outlandish fashion without having to go supernatural.

In the beginning when they were just showing screenshots and silent action, I was a little concerned that the characters would be a little to plain Jane, but now that we've started to see footage with speaking parts and more character interaction it's clear to me that they've infused them a decent amount of range and nuance.

I wonder since Richard Lemarchand is the lead game designer whether we would see huge bosses like those in the first Soul Reaver or Jak 3 (final boss pwnz), this game needs those clever boss fights.

The lighting looks so bland (in some of the locations, less in others), hope they improve the engine

:lol

Try with another game maybe, because Uncharted has some of the best lighting around there

All i want is some disarm moves, and some more fancy hand to hand moves...

It would make this game a wet dream...a perfect wet dream.
