Uncharted: Lost Legacy or Horizon: Zero Dawn?

100% Horizon OP.

This coming from someone who has the plat for both and has completed horizon twice (on NG+ now) and Uncharted LL thrice.

Don't get me wrong Uncharted is incredible and the relationship between the lead characters is one of the best since Joel and Ellie, however Horizon trumps it in terms of visuals (meaning style really) and story. In fact I think it's probably my GOTY.

Either way is a win-win though. Great dilema to have.

Horizon:ZD is my game of the generation. A masterpiece.

I'm also a fan of the Uncharted series, haven't played LL yet. If you want to take a short break from open-world games start with this but every PS4 player should play HZD - Best open-world graphics, one of the best sci fi and overall stories in videogames, fantastic lore, moment-to-moment gameplay is incredible and doesn't get tiresome (melee is weak).

I truly did. Unlike Lost Legacy Horizon gives zero reason to explore even for loot, because my inventory always full even after fully upgraded.

The sidequests were the biggest incentive in my opinion, since they werent marked in the map except when you approach them.

Do you really think Horizon trumps UC:LL visually? I don't own Horizon and I think it looks incredible (from pics and high wuality videos) might be the best, but as someone who is currently playing UC:LL I don't see how any game that is currently out in the market can trump those visuals. It looks spectacular, maybe Horizon is even vetter looking but I can't imagine that by such a huge margin.

Yeah I edited my post to mean visual style as oppose to just quality. I don't think anyone can touch ND in terms of graphical detail and quality.

I just meant more the art style, world and enemy design.

Horizon does look incredible though.

The jungle in Horizon at night is probably the best looking thing I have ever seen in a videogame.

Not really your compass will show you the side quests if they are near by and also as soon as you enter a town your map will show all side quests in that town.

I honestly hoping find secret weapons, armour or dungeons. Or even it would be cool to find rare enemies like
Gaia's
defective machines? But nothing.

This game doesn't even trust you to find Tallnecks and cauldron on your own. They already on map for you even on unexplored section.

I mean fucking look at this.

Well yeah that is what I said. The sidequests appears in the map when you are near them. You basically have to walk everywhere though if you want to do all of them.

You do have to go through the area with the fog so the icons can appear in the map, they are not there if you dont go there. The image you posted have the collectibles map bought for example, which if you dont have it you have to acquire them all by searching. In any case it is a very story driven game and the narrative makes you travel to all these places.

I'm not even talking about the collectables. Just look at the map there is Tallnecks and Cauldron and even bandit camps on foggy area. They could have at very least let you find those on your own. I don't care how story driven a game is if you give me open world that means you are giving me secrets to find, if not then to me the open world becomes pointless.

Errr if your problem is with icons in the map of Open World games then you probably will have a big problem with every modern open world game ever lol. I am sure you can disable everything though, so there is that.

As much as I hated FFXV open world, even that game secret dungeons you can find thats not marked on the map.

Went with Horizon. Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Visually, I would choose Horizon over The Lost Legacy simply because it's an open world game and thus more impressive since it's harder to accomplish.

Be sure to play The Lost Legacy after it.

You said you liked UC4, so TLL is a sure hit for you.

In fact I think you should play it first tbh. It is a 7-10hours game. Especially considering you are coming from a huge game lenght wise, I think a shorter one would be a good bet.

Horizon is a great graphical showcase with a boring world (if you want to explore it), a lack of intersting characters and story. Still a good game, but as someone who already played Botw the world of Horizon is going to disappoint you. Cant speak for Uc TLL, but I am sure you get a better story there.

Dont listen to this guy. The story is amazing in Horizon. The best part of it along with its combat.

Yep exactly.

This is something they must work on heavy in the sequel

I give it a little pass it being a brand new IP the first in its franchise and Guerrilla Games first time with open world building

I don't think they can due to the setting, just like RDR games.

I know. I am also a true believer of the theory of the wrong opinion. His opinion is a proof of it :P

I hope you are joking. There are people out there who didn't liked the story, are you telling me those people are wrong because YOU enjoy the story more than them? Thats complete BS!!!

Imo horizon had a much better story than tll. I was always looking forward to the next main mission just for the story.
Done far better than most open world games.
In tll the characters and writing was superb but there was nothing exceptional about the story.

Hey I know how I act when someone doesnt like things I like (my current gf rated Ex Machina with a 3/10 I mean seriously, THAT is objectivly wrong), but I found the story of Horizon absolutely forgettable. One of the problems for that is the lack of interesting characters. You have Aloy and thats it
plus guy in the beginning
. This may be due to translation, but the writing is not the best out there and it often feels like the gane takes itself too seriously. And I never felt as a part of that great looking world (something that worked in Botw and I didnt even finish the game). Of course this is just my opinion, bur I am sure I am not the only one who sees it that way.

Playing Horizon after Zelda could be interesting to see. Horizon has maybe a tenth of the world-interactivity Zelda has, instead its focus is more on combat (admittedly pretty cool) and story and characters (both bland). Game is a great technical showcase though, but little else imo.

Uncharted Lost Legacy has even less interactivity, but it does have more of an explorer's vibe and it's more an interactive movie-type game anyway. But it has great characters and a very fun, light tone and is engaging from beginning to end.

Lost Legacy gets my vote.

Both are worth playing, but I don't hold Horizon nearly as highly as most do. Uncharted, on the other hand, is absolutely fantastic. I'd recommend that first.

Horizon's world is beautiful, but nothing about it is interesting to explore.

This sums it up for me as well. I've been having a hard time of getting into Horizon and I haven't finished it yet, the characters are likeable and the story is compelling but the gameplay feels like a less responding version of the new Tomb Raider games and the world doesn't really feel alive or interesting. Also most of the machine creature enemies feel boring and impersonal at least so far. But maybe I'll like it more when I actually finish it.

Uncharted Lost Legacy had many of the same strengts as the fourth one with smooth action in detailed locations and visually impressive adventure and storytelling and Chloe was actally able to carry the story. I thought the pacing was mostly excellent as well and the action didn't get tiresome. Also was nice to play something linear and short after playing Breath of the Wild close to 300 hours.

I enjoyed both games a lot more than BOTW.

I think Horizon is more fleshed out in terms of both story and content, and The Lost Legacy is a tightly focused action-adventure game with awesome characters that doesn't overstay it's welcome. If Uncharted is to continue, I want more of Chloe and Nadine.

Both are tied for being my personal GOTY.

Horizon takes better advantage of a 4k TV, as it's 2160p checkerboard and looks excellent, so I'd get Horizon first if you are only buying one right now, plus it's a fantastic game.

Uncharted Lost Legacy is only 1440p but still looks amazing and is well worth playing if you like the Uncharted games, plus it's cheap.

I personally didn't care either for the characters or the story.

Same. There were bright spots (like one female warrior you meet I won't mention), but most of the major characters were rather by-the-book in a bland way. The story isn't much better, but it's not awful, I suppose.

When people talk about how great the story is in Horizon I think they are talking about the
Project Zero Dawn plot
and all the lore around it, which is basically the main plot. Did you really not liked it? I thought it was masterly paced and the mystery around it made me look forward to every little pice of lore I could find it because of how good it was.

I just started horizon but it already kinda feels line farcry 3 without guns n cars. The story is interesting enough and I'm hoping to see what else is in store but like some others said it's not that interesting in some ways

People seem committed to pushing the BOTW/HZD thing but as someone who loved both they really aren't that similar of an experience beyond superficial similarities.

Almost everything I liked in one, is different in the other.

My problem with Horizon is the exploration is not nearly as good as BotW and the story/characters aren't as interesting as The Witcher 3.

The only thing really is the combat and while I find that important, Master Mode on BotW is keeping me a lot more entertained.

I'd go with Uncharted after watching my girlfriend play it. Characters and story seem a lot more interesting, so far.
