Uncharted movie impressions

Lol people posting metacritic scores here SMFH

Metacritic told me jumanji was shit but my partner dragged me along to go watch it and I enjoyed it. Watched it several more times with her after that.

I love thr national treasure movies so looking forward to go seeing this. Thanks for the heads up OP

Wtf? Jumanji was great! I didn't even realize it had bad reviews.

Just can't get past the casting choice.

It's like the Spider-Man game where they changed the face of Peter Parker to look like a teen.
Cast them young so if it's a success they can pump out more UC movies as the actor will never be too old for a 20 year stretch.

44% RT and 7.1 IMBD.

Looks like it could be worth watching and just read some positive reviews from regular people. A few said that Tom and Mark have chemistry.

I don't have any of those theaters near me but I'll watch when it hits streaaming.

To be fair for UC, movie reviewers are often very critical against certain genres.... too sci fi, comedies, family fun action movies etc... A movie like UC (no matter how good it is) is a tough kind of movie to push through with 90% ratings.

I just checked the RT score of the older Robin Williams version. It got bad reviews too. I'm not even a Robin Williams fan, but thought that was a great movie.

Other movies I thought were solid fun, but no doubt not surprised it got grilled were License to Drive and Sahara.

Tom Holland being the star of an Uncharted movie only makes sense if they made the film as a vehicle for Tom Holland, and didn't give a shit about Uncharted.

It was better then I expected. The story was pretty simple, but was classic Uncharted. Being condensed into a movie its more fast past. It reminds me of the national treasure movies.

Thankfully Tom Holland does not have the silly American accent he does in the MCU. His accent in this movie is a lil bit southern and more rougher, it sounds more natural then his peter parker American accent.

The acting is good throughout and the camera work costume + set design is all high quality.

It also opens itself up for sequals.

It was good, if u like national treasure style movie with a bit more youth and vigor
7/10

Sounds about how I expected it to go, reviews terribly by the "critics" but is generally enjoyed by the public, it's a sat afternoon light hearted action adventure romp and those kinda flicks are right up my alley as in Uncharted (currently replaying the ps5 version of UC4 for the 3rd time) so ima gonna enjoy it no matter what I think of the casting choices

This movie was in development hell. No way it would turn out great

You can't grasp the cosmic injustice of the best (and probably only) videogame adaptation of all time being from League of Legends.
And from the looks of it, it will remain the case for the foreseeable future.
Sonic was ok at best.

The film is actually very good. Everyone in my crew enjoyed it. The actors are a good choice and work well. I'd go see a sequel.

Saw it. Casting is terrible, humour was dry with one proper Scottish exception; dialogue in general was bad; Chloe was insufferable; Marky Mark had no charm; Tom Holland tried his best but...no; Banderas should've had a bigger role; assassin chick is just there to tick boxes; cliched nightclub scene; too much time spent in cities/urban areas. It ain't good but it ain't terrible either (as far as video game movies go)...it just isn't memorable at all.

Saw it tonight myself and a mate.
Both old school uncharted fans and were pleasantly surprised it's actually pretty games accurate in most places with some major differences in others.

I'd watch a sequel for sure.

21M from secondary markets and UK only is honestly already a great opening number for this!
Didn't expect this to be #1 already

Sounds good. I wonder why Ireland got the privilege of the early release.

Anyway can't stop thinking about how enjoyable this was. I'll watch it again when it hits the streaming services.

My son went to see it tonight….he really enjoyed it.

I'll give it a watch.
still a terrible casting choice but I'll just try switch off and not think about it.

Looks like the type of film I might watch on the plane.

Nothing against Holland but he doesn't have any resemblance to Drake except probably a dirty shirt.

I love Marky Mark in movies, he is just miscast in this role. And I am tired of Hollands one note schtick. He isn't Drake whatsoever and is the worst movie Spider-Man.

I tend to agree about casting.... but it does seem Sony did this with extreme optimism... probably wishing for a future where the 5th movie sequel has Walberg in gray hair and a mustache.

King George must have snuck a clause into the delcaration of independence that said in exchange for freedom America would agree to let all its future comic book and video game characters be played by British actors in the film version.

Quoting one review:
"Abandon hope all ye who enter here. There truly is no future for the video-game-to-movie adaptation if Hollywood can't even crack Uncharted."

Mr Spiderman as Nathan Drake is one BIG mis-cast..Nathan himself in the games looks like in his mid-to-late 30's and who they chose doesn't fit the age-range...unless you are looking at it from a Nathan Drake Junior perspective...

Not great numbers, but still better than I expected. Even with these mediocre numbers I don't think there is a franchise here. Not unless it does gangbusters in the US, which is unlikely. Reviews have blasted it.

About those mediocre numbers...Uncharted is actually doing better than last year's Marvel movies in many of these markets while having almost half of their budgets:

As reported by Variety, the Tom Holland-led video game adaptation opened in 15 overseas markets this past weekend and had the biggest debut in the United Kingdom with $6.4 million in ticket sales. When compared to other pandemic-era films, Uncharted is "tracking 12% above Eternals, 18% above Black Widow and 21% higher than Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings at similar points in their theatrical rollouts."
If these numbers happen in most places it's guaranteed the movie will turn to profit with its theater run alone.

The movie looks like itll be a fun time.

Quick question: Sony offered a free Uncharted movie theater ticket with the purchase of Uncharted ps5 upgrade. Has anyone received their code yet?

I am honestly more interested in why that uber beta bleeding all over the forum thinks Marky Mark is racist? Did I miss something?
