Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Spoilers Thread

Anybody else annoyed that they didn't give Chloe enough costumes to purchase? It's her game she should have more than 5. Same has like 12.

Just finished the game yesterday and wanted to share my thoughts...

-Chloe was too much just like a female version of Drake, from her knowledge of history, to her wisecracking, to the mechanics being a carbon copy of U4, to the setpieces just being alternate versions of things Drake has done (choppers, trains, tanks, etc).

-The game was a bit too short, while U4 was a bit too long.

-Chapter 4 was incredible, and a shining example of how to build a level that has both width and depth.

-Sam was actually likable in this unlike U4. After cringing when I first saw him, I actually appreciated his presence in this.

-While the set pieces were alternate versions of games passed, they were still thrilling and VERY well done here.

-Most of the puzzles were very good, though there were too many dial turning puzzles without much variation. I would have liked to seen them mix it up more.

-Nadine wasn't very likable to me, though very well acted and decently written.

-Naughty Dog continues to be garbage at making compelling villains and creating bossfights.

-Graphics looked quite good in places, though nothing that particularly wowed after U4, and it sucks that they couldn't even lock it at 30 (I find myself saying this about nearly every game I play).

-Like U4, I feel this could have used a few more combat encounters.

Overall it was more Uncharted and I enjoyed it. Now give me my young Sully game ND.

I finished it Friday, and loved every moment of it.

I'm one of the folks that adored Uncharted 4, and loved the slower moments and pacing, but I also loved how Lost Legacy kept the pace brisk and tight. The downside to that, is that I wanted more Chloe and Nadine. I'd be over the moon if they continued the series forward with those two. I don't hate Sam, but it'd be a nice change of pace to have a mega-franchise like Uncharted continuing with two women of color as the leads.

I knew from the moment she promised Meenu pizza that we'd go back to it in the end. That was a sweet callback.

The set pieces in this game were reminiscent of Uncharted 2, which is always a good thing. Uncharted 4 didn't have as many set pieces as previous entries, but I still loved them. The Lost Legacy, though? I was grinning from ear to ear during the whole final sequence. That train was amazing. Asav was a butthead, but he falls in line with all of the other antagonists in the series, as well as the genre in general. The scene where he summarily handles Nadine and Chloe both was well done. Nadine is such a badass, that to see her get her ass kicked by Asav and tossed out like garbage raised the stakes a little. The final confrontation on the train and fist fight was so good.

I've loved every Uncharted game, but I think Lost Legacy is easily in my top 3 now. My current ranking:

1) Uncharted 2
2) Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
3) Uncharted 4
4) Uncharted 3
5) Uncharted: Golden Abyss
6) Uncharted 1

Damn, there have been 6 Uncharted games. That's insane to me. It doesn't feel like the series is that long in the tooth, but as I love the characters so much, it's always great to see them again.

If the series is going to continue or get a re-imagining, make sure Chloe and Nadine are the leads, Naughty Dog!

Sam had a bunch from U4 already. I would have liked more for Chloe/Nadine but at the end of the day it's kind a trivial thing and just a bonus, so I get why they wouldn't spend much time on that.

I care about the trivial things. Chloe's got a pretty good design, so I'm kind of annoyed I can't dress her up in more things. I know I'm running through the next play through with her Western costume. I guess I'm just too used to Horizon with it's like 30 outfits for Aloy.

all of sam's outfits are from uncharted 4 so they didn't have to make any

They did make 2 wholely brand new ones for her (pirate with hook hand and all). Which I thought was pretty good.

No I completely get that, I meant it's trivial for Naughty Dog overall. And that's what I was planning to do too, Western costume for Chloe/Auction costume for Nadine + pistole/shotgun for a westworld playthrough. It'll be the Clementine/Maeve heist that we all wanted. :P

Sadly her best(WW2-ish military outfit from multiplayer) isn't available in Lost Legacy.

I just finished. Probably my favorite Uncharted. Chloe and Nadine's relationship, Chloe, the Hindu culture, the action setpieces and it looks absolutely amazing. Beautiful moments through the game.

Horizon and Persona 5 are fighting for my GotY nod but I think ULL is, at least, in the argument now for me.

If they do more UC, I want Chloe and Nadine again.

Finished it the other day and loved it, more than U4. The visuals were amazing and took my breath away at times. I liked it's length to be honest, kept things pretty focused and I really liked Chloe and Nadine, you can actually see them grow together as friends. Would love a Lost Legacy 2 with them in the lead roles.

9/10.

Disappointed by the pizza models. Final Fantasy XV still takes the crown for video game food porn.
Eh. Every screenshot I've seen of FFXV food looked fake as hell. Like, the textures were photorealistic, but it was ruined by low-poly models or the low-textured background in which they rested in.

Haha funnily enough I was just looking through some of the artists work on the game and came across this

Mostly Cine help with materials and tiny modeling tweaks to add detail to crates and the umbrella. Of course the pizza needed some tweaking too... The pizza was originally from outsourcing and it was just too perfect looking so I went in added some slight burn marks and general realism to the cheese and breading. We actually did scan a slice of pizza, but could not get that in time.

If only they had time to scan them

The Chloe and Nadine relationship seemed more natural than the one with Nate and Sam. I don't even hate Sam in that game either, there was just so much weird tension there that I couldn't fully enjoy it till maybe midway...then again I did feel like Sam was the worst thing for Nate because it got him back into a life he was more or less done with and diving back into it had the potential to fuck up his life with Elena. Which is a sentiment that I didn't get with Chloe or Nadine. They seemed to bring out the best in each other and Chloe actually did care about Nadine.

Chloe is the Lara Croft CD just doesn't know how to make anymore. She's everything you wanted and more. Her dynamic with Nadine made to the ultimate buddy film. I need more.

100%

I can't even really play Tomb Raider because Lara Croft is honestly just obnoxious. Her voice, her character, her whiney feeling. Bleh. Chloe feels solid and interesting to play.

Also, I got to confess, I was complaining about this game before I played it and wasnt fully interested in it because of Chloe and Nadine. But they really won me over by the end... although their interactions with Sam were a little too much "girl power", it was still pretty compelling.

Sam got dropped into a situation he knew nothing about with those two. You could kind of tell Nadine and Chloe wanted him to shut the hell up.

Also Chloe and Nadine bonded over the course of the game, Nadine had previous beef with him anyway, and Sam was a bit of a third wheel at that point.

I love that final look Sam gives the piece of pizza after he finally takes a bite. It's those little things that really make the experience.

That's it, I definitely don't like the open world parts of Uncharted games for one particular reason (except that it loses the main focus but that's alright I guess); once you cross a particular not-that-clear part of the map, it saves and you just can't go back. I feel like I lost a good hour or two
scavenging the crests thinking the main story would unfold once I get to the super obvious tower in the very middle of the map. I only had one token left to get (near the tower) an that's frustrating as fuck. I just have 95% of those stupid medals/token and it's absolutely fucking useless now.

I also avoided the tower because I thought that was where you'd meet Asav in the big final action sequence of that area. On my second playthrough, there was dialogue nudging you to go there first, which I completely missed.

How are they useless? You didn't have to leave the area right away.

The game does tell you not to leave until your ready once you complete the initial tasks.

The door shuts down once you're in. There's no turning back. I thought I was just exploring another part of the map but the story told me "nope".

Ahh, the poster just said they were at the giant tower not that they went through the giant water door. So if that poster was still only at the tower, they could have done the trinket side quest still.

The game does give you a warning I believe before going through.

The game makes it super obvious that the tower is there to get your bearings, and then is even more explicit about when/where the point of no return is.

i kind of wish i hadn't bothered with the tokens. it kind of messed up the pacing of the game for me. chapter 4 was a slog because of it.

felt like the same complaints that people had with the first half of UC4

I loved the hand-to-hand boss battles in this.

Nadine
in UC4 was eye-roll worthy, and
Rafe
was some sudden new game mechanic nonsense.

But in this game it's done perfectly. They convey being outmatched well without ignoring your skill entirely. They bring back the dodge button from UC3 to increase the depth of those moments.

But, as you highlight, it is an optional slog, and that makes all the difference. You're free to not embark on that diversion, and the game gives you no indication that the prize will be significant or worthwhile. I thought it was fun, anyhow.
