Ore no Ryouri, the BEST cooking game ever. It used the dual sticks on the dual shock really well and has a amazingly fun VS mode. Find this one on the bay and treat yourself, its really really nice (and you don't really need to understand japanese)

Man, some great games in here - that nostalgia. I'll go with my favorite 3D fighting game of all time:

and I'll throw in a bonus pick:

Now, for some ones NOT mentioned!

Still very upset it has not been rereleased on PSN. Let alone have some sort of remake. Open City game where you fly a futuristic cop vehicle around, scanning other vehicles to determine if that is your suspect, bombing runs, dog fights and more! Almost like Colony Wars, on a planet. And oh yea, Colony Wars!!

This has been on PSN in Europe/Australia for years now, grabbed it the other day to revisit on Vita! Is it seriously not out in America? Bloody SCEA, man. :(

Came to post this. So many fun party nights with this game...

The original digimon world. There is no other game that is like this one, and the later digimon world were never like this nor did they even come close to being as good as the original.

The only downside to this game was the story/dialogue. However, the atmosphere, the charm, the gameplay and mini games, back when I was 8 years old, this game was amazing. As you explored the island looking for inhabitants who hadn't been corrupted by evil to help rebuild the city. The system for growing your digimon was cool too, it kept things interesting. Your digimon could die and be reborn and how you raised it depended on it's evolution. There was a trading card system in it too just for fun.

This was back in the day of pre-rendered backgrounds, which I miss immensely too.

There will never be quite an experience like this again.

I didn't see any pictures of T'ai Fu. I'm disappointed.
Fun beat em up where you play a kung fu tiger on his way to fighting a dragon.
Also you get powers, one of which is like the Emperor from Star Wars.

There's a Dungeons and Dragons fighting game that I can't remember the name of.

While bad by today's standards I had a lot of fun with it.

This one takes me back to the glory days of the bundled PS1 demo disc.

This was a competent fighter featuring Final Fantasy VII characters and a unique RPG dungeon mode.

Was this more popular than I remember? Otherwise, I'm disappointed noones mentioned it yet. Still nothing that duplicates this style of gameplay. Would love to see an update.

Nostalgia the thread. Damn, seeing this makes my PS1 collection tiny back at the time. Klonoa was really good from what I remember, not too sure if it's considered an underrated game though?

Klonoa_playstation_front.jpg

Yeah, it's underrated alright. For some bizarre reason no one gives this series any attention. But it's dead in the water by now anyway, I had hoped for a Smash Bros appearance since Nintendo was working with Namco on it, that might have kick-started some interest, but sadly it was not to be.

A lot of people have already said games I would most definitely call underrated but I suppose I will add to the existing list.

Tomba, Apocalypse, Speed Punks, RC Revenge, and Silent Bomber to name a few.

Well...
Alundra comes to mind. Was pretty underrated and fell into the shadow of Final Fantasy 7 & Resident Evil 2.

Uh, heh, Alundra was super well reviewed and sold over a million copies when it was released. It's far from being an "underrated" title.

This? This is an underrated title:

It got reviews in the 60-70 range, mainly due to its mediocre battle system and distinct lack of music - also what music there is is fairly insubstantial. Its sequels, Shadow Hearts, and Shadow Hearts: Covenant are heads and tails better than Koudelka, but..

I fucking love Koudelka. It has such a creepy, horror filled atmopshere, a good cast of characters, surprisingly good voice acting, and interesting RPG mechanics. It really is brought low by its combat system and subpar graphics for a '99/'00 game PS1 game.

I've been playing the prequel to this lately (trying to beat the final dungeon), which is obviously a big step down but still pretty neat (and I can't wait to dig into the sequel), but it's making me fantasize about a game with VF5's fighting, some crazy Yakuza-style presentation, and bigass single-chance dungeons (in the form of megacorp towers or something) structured like Tobal's but with waaay more aesthetic variety. God, it would rule so hard.

I might have already posted in this thread ... I forgot.
Anyway! This game is amazing. Completely kicks WipEout's ass, imo. It just seemed to come out at a bad time.

I totally forgot about Rollcage, those games were friggin amazing. I would love to see these games come back.

One lf the best srpg's of all time, deserves it's rightful spot in pantheon besides Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

So many memories. And just like FFT you can completely break the game halfway through with an overpowered add. The laser beam weapon just destroys everything. Anyone playing it the first time don't get it, it will ruin the rest of the game.

Kneel before mecha pope
I've actually been replaying this, and while the story holds up pretty well for being riddled with cliches and tropes, the dialogue can get almost offensively bad. And I have a feeling it's mostly because of the translation. A lot of it is uncouth, vulgar humor that really walks the line (and that mostly went over my head back in the day).

Still a good game, though. Also a lot easier than I remember. The OST stayed with me for years after I played it. And Empire > Kingdom branch.

Has anyone talked about this gem yet? I remember my younger brother and I getting this in a discount bin after the PS2 had released and we played it for years. It was this top down action game where you chose different creatures and fought. Pretty basic premise but something about the gameplay and the abilities of each character stood out to me. Go figure these guys ended up creating Skylanders.

Edit: I see that this was posted before, but just another reason to point out that it was a great game. One to track down for sure.

I love to read through these threads because they make me realize how many good games I've forgotten through the years.

Yeah, there are so many covers I'm seeing and memories of walks through Blockbuster are flooding back to me with slices of gameplay cutting in. PSOne was so wonderful.

People don't talk about this game enough. A classic, which pushed the PSone hard.

Also, where is it on PSN, Sony?

Fantastic game, loved playing this all the time. It's a shame we'll probably never see a sequel/remake since Polyphony seem content with just making Gran Turismo games. If it was ever put up on PSN I'd be all over this on my PS4.
