Underrated -- Syndicate (2012)

If you look past it's name brand history, it's a really fun and competent game. Think I gave it one of the higher score (GameTrailers) back in the day, other than Giant Bomb.

A little undercooked in some of the secondary features, but still a great ride. Love the machine that poops out guns during the boss fight. So dumb in a good way

The game was badass. Starbreeze always has my attention, and also Machine Games.

I liked it alot. I also remember playing the shit out of the coop with my group of friends on PC. I'll probably replay it soon.

I loved the game, but people hated on it pretty-hardcore. I dunno...early 2012 for EA games was a weird time. Awesome games like SSX, Syndicate, and Kingdoms of Amalur were really trashed hard, and I've never understood why.

Co-op was fucking intense, and the guns were loud, meaty and satisfying. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and the game provided some of my best memories of last gen.

So +1 to this.

Did anyone try to play this game recently on PC?

I wanted to play through it again a few months ago, but I had the absolute worst performance issues on my 970. I looked everywhere for some kind of fix or solution, but I couldn't find it.

I would really like to play it again someday :(

It has incredible performance on my Surface Book. Maybe you didn't install the patch?

Indeed, very underrated game OP

it had Brian Cox AND Michael Wincott in it!!!

I fucking loved it, despite the so so campaign

Also, had the ONLY track from Skrillex I've ever dug (yes I know it's merely a remix of the original's awesome theme)

I loved the game back then.
While the story is meh, the gunplay and co-op are amazing.
Would love to play again some of the online missions.

EDIT - more memories coming back to me. The co-op seemed fun but it did not scale according to the number of players in the game if I remember correctly. The game was tuned for 4 players which meant it was next to impossible to complete some missions with only 2, which is how I tried to play it.

Nonsense I played through it 2 player and we ripped right through it, don't blame the game if you were crap at it.

When i found out it didn't even sell 200k worldwide, it was a shame considering all the marketing and commercials for it before launch.

The riddick developers deserve far more love than they have gotten in this industry since

I would scold you for having this attitude, but I remember my post history in the Doom OT...

The Syndicate campaign being far too easy was disappointing for me. I would like to mod/up the difficulty but the game is dead.

One of the best co-op shooters ever made. Truly underrated game.

Still hoping for some sort of spiritual successor.

It also had a the worst bloom effect I've ever seen in a game. It ruined the entire look of the game, which is a shame because it had a pretty decent art style outside the lousy overwhelming bloom.

This made the game pretty much unplayable for me, how the devs thought it was a good idea or cool is just mind blowing.
And any game where a big part of the experience is online coop is automatically a no buy for me. Split screen or gtfo.

i remember playing a demo of it and really feeling it, yah? I ended up never getting it for some reason, yah?

This game was on sale for 3 dollars on Xbox Live not too long ago. I haven't put much time into it though. I keep telling myself that I'll play it a bit and move it to the front of my pins, but I always just end up playing something else.

Didn't know it was on sale, if it was BC on xbox one I would buy it. Seems like a great game to be a games with gold though.

Co-op is solo-able even on the highest difficulty, once your character is upgraded enough, but yeah, some of the later stages aren't easy.

XB1 BC would be great for this game. Would definitely love to play the co-op again with other people.

The campaign was merely okay, but the co-op was tons of fun. A great base to build on for updates and sequels and I'm still sad that it'll never happen.

I only finished it a few months ago, I got it from Play Asia.
I live in Adelaide; if you really want to play it, and have an xbox, I'll send you my copy.

It was pretty boring.

Thanks but don't have the Xbox anymore , maybe if it ever goes backwards compat I will give it a try

Radioactive brick walls.

The shooting gameplay is quite fun but I remember the level settings, the enemy Agents, and the story all being quite terrible. The "twist" of
your parents were killed by your Syndicate
was super obvious. I already assumed they'd done this when recruiting you.

Good game, but had a fatal game breaking bug that completely soured me on it.

After I died at the final boss fight, it spawned me in the air, miles away from the platform, where I instantly fell down the gap and died. Like a million times. Of course, only one save slot, chapter replay worked for finished chapters only and didn't continue through to the next one... just fucked.

I remember this coming out sandwiched in between titles that were getting much more focus from EA (one was Mass Effect 3 IIRC), so it was basically sent out to die.

I enjoyed parts of it when I played it though and generally loved the art (had a definite mirror's edge inspiration) and really liked some of its ideas about hacking and such, and had really hoped that whatever sequel was gonna come out to DX:HR would steal some of Syndicate's ideas.

haha thats great

I remember this coming out around the time Origin launched and really suffered as far as PC sales. I understand not wanting to lose money to Valve service fees but you lose so much exposure if you aren't a top tier title like Battlefield it feels.

Holy hell, I feel so bad.

I wonder how that would work in a region where the game was banned from sale... it wouldn't be available on their storefront, so if you had a disc would you still be able to download it?

Xbox One is relatively region free, so I imagine it's cool.

I remember playing it when it was new, and I remember not liking it, but tbh it was so long ago I barely remember anything of it =/
