Universal To Unveil New Animated Logo

Disney dont do those logos in house - it was Weta. I dont know who did Paramounts - but it could have been ILM and thats one of better works.

You notice that in the Universal intro - and all of the other NBC intros, they all uses some sort of glassy or slide in type of thing... well if you guessed it's by design. I wish more 3D people use this as a stepping stone for better CGI intros but Weta never tells much.
Wow really?

Source?

This seems like the thread to ask this in. I seem to remember a universal logo in front of one my vhs tapes (maybe ET or BttF or something) where the letters would slowly scroll horizontally across the screen. Inside each letter, you'd see scenes from famous movies like Jaws and BttF. Anyone remember this or know where I can find it?

This logo accompanied by crackly quiet always gave an air of exciting anticipation about the film ahead.

Oh yeah, totally! I love that logo.

One thing this thread has brought to my attention is that Universal has had so many different parent companies over the years.

They're missing a few. The ones from last couple of years have been pretty good. The newest one is a little grandiose.

This is my favorite as well. They must have had it for a while because it's the one I identify with the most

We also may like the logo better than the movies we're about to see nowadays.

I keep forgetting that NBC, Comcast, & Universal are one huge operation now.

I love the Disney one. makes the movie seem special and it helps that most of the Disney movies I've seen with that have been decent.

Don't break the streak John Carter!

PORTUGAL GETS THE CLOSE-UP, MOTHER FUCKERS!!!

Goddamn that actually made me choke up a bit >_>

Hehe, true. I also went like "huh, focus on Spain and Portugal, that's odd". And the US is barely visible. You'd expect more chauvinism, hehe. :)

They are Universal.

Since the movie is going to be about Americans, Spain & Portugal get the logo time.

The snare drums definitely need more reverb...

Also, the old United Artists logo from the mid-to-late nineties will always be the best. Used to complement the Bond films so well... even if the films were pretty terrible, sans GoldenEye.

I love the new logo.
It has "THIS IS HUGE" written all over it, something I really appreciate when I'm going to watch a movie on the big screen.
Very nice.
Congrats, Universal.

New animated logo is awesome. Interesting that Weta modernized both Disney and Universal's logos. I hope they do a silent version without the 90s theme.

I've really loved the logo updates from the major movie studios over the last few years. Disney's is probably still my favorite overall, but Paramount's newly unveiled logo from last year was also suitably epic.

The difference being this one looks really nice.

The Universal one in the OP just looks tacky.

It looks really bad as a still frame, but in moving video it looks fantastic.

Not as good as the new Paramount one, but the camera movements and the new orchestra really made it come alive.

A little too overdone for me. And then I think of a movie like Star Trek or something else where they overdub the music from the companies logos with the films score and I think the logo will be even more jarring without the epic score behind it.
