I see stands like this all the time in delaware and north western new jersey. Locals just drop off produce on a table or put cheeses in a fridge and you take what you want and are expected to leave money. I think for the most part everyone pays.

Not uncommon for coworkers to steal food out off the fridge. I never understood why someone who obviously has a job would sink so low to steal a bottle of water or snack from the employee fridge.
