Every Woody Allen movie.

(Most of Spike Lee's movies too)

In the 70's/80's, Allen could have pulled girls just as hot as the ones he's involved in in the movie.

If you really feel its such a waste, why don't you Fuck off. Nothing worst than people complaining about a place like gaf, yet they won't leave.

:lol

let me clue you in. every time he sees the link, he feels a need to click, and winds up wasting more time than he would have on GAF alone. by choice.

You guys must be living in Perfectland.

I see ugly guys with cute to gorgeous girls all the time. Maybe it's either hot and depressing/insulting or ugly and rich/funny.

the point in the op wasn't good looking / ugly couples are unrealistic, they're not. i'm sure hurley is very nice and very funny in real life, and he's loaded rich at this point. it's not hard to see how that couple could work past his physical attributes.

the point in the op was that often times in movies, there is a couple where
- one person is kind, friendly, good looking, successful, talented, worldly
- the other person is rude, a jerk, ugly, a failure, untalented, and self-obsessed

that's not a realistic couple. it's realistic for an attractive person to be with a less attractive person because of some particular positive attribute ("inner beauty", story of the ugly duckling, etc) it's not realistic for some bland blob with no personality to be with an idealized male or female.

This still happens all the time.

Indeed, there is nothing unrealistic about an asshole dating a perfectly lovely person. I personally know more couples like that than the attractive/unattractive combination.

Did you forget how much he makes her laugh in Superbad?...

Sam witwiki and Micheal... Fox...

Seriously... is the girl really that dumb ? Or is Witwiki really that rich (or have real alien steel in the pant ?)

U mean Spike Lee's characters' relationships?

do-the-right-thing-1989-03-g-1.jpg

or the relationships in the movies in general aren't believable?

random old guy - young girl relationship.

You'ld think we'ld have passed the nineties by now, but noooooo
You reminded me of one that I never settled in within, and in turn didn't like the film much at all, Whatever Works. That couple was pretty unrealistic to me.

Happens all the time. Doesn't mean the couple is truly happy or going to last, but yea pairings are often a crapshoot of illogical.

Exactly.

I don't take issue with the disparity in looks, but I take issue when one of the members of the relationship is so over-the-top with being the "bad SO" that I can't even fathom why the relationship would have started in the first place. Then it's just a snowball of anger rolling up in my head that finishes with "Well, why the fuck am I even watching this shit?"

The fat guys with hot girlfriends in real life you showed are rich and famous actors. Being rich and famous always helps when asking out hot girls.

When I saw the thread I came in to post that screenshot from Superbad.

But that was the whole point of the film so it is forgiveable

I don't know about this whole "girls don't care about looks". I mean, I think I'm an average looking guy who struggles with a little mild acne, but I do have a great personality I think, and I make girls laugh (are they laughing at me or with me? eh, who cares, i'll take it!) , but it's either I'm not putting any effort into deciding whether a girl likes me or am I'm just playing a game to see whether a girl is interested in me without putting any effort in it.

Came here to post this one. The movie was not funny, but made even worse but the mismatched couple aspect. Not just for looks, but personality, etc.

I 2nd this verbatim.

Girls don't like you because they think you will leave them. Fat guys have to treat them like they are a princess.

With women it is a double edge sword. At all times.
