Unsuccessful Wii lineup: Who else didn't get one?

Yeah, I too trusted some of the idiot GAFFer's on this (wish I could go and find some nice quotes). Wen't to my local Target at 6am where they had 120 units. I didn't even come close to getting one. So many determined people in line camping out and stuff. Damnit >:O

If you're looking for good quotes, search through Amir0x's post history, he was one of the grand champions of this GAFism.

people really underestimated the Wii!

Sold out everywhere, so glad i woke up at 5am, just got one by like 4 people at best buy.

I'm about to head out shortly to find one...

The Nintendo World Store is supposed to have over 2000 in (1000 for preorders, 1000 for walkins) and the Toys R Us party thingy last night was supposed to have 5000 units. As of around 10:30 , there were about 1000 people waiting at Toys R Us.

I'm hoping it should be fairly easy today for me to get one.

Holy crap. I couldn't wait in a line of over 1000 overnight just to buy something. Add in the time it's gonna take to hand out the consoles and then check you out and you're looking at another handful of hours. Yikes.

PSP sold out here too (except at one TRU, and obviously that's a no go this time around). Not surprising at all. The good news is that they're easy for the big N to manufacture so there'll be plenty to go around before you know it.

I fully admit to being one of those idiots.

Yeah man. I think they really under shipped Gainesville. How did they not realize that its a college town making it full of hardcore gamers willing to spend days outside waiting.

Haha, I was mid-50s in line at Best Buy.

no luck here in san diego.
target line was 75 - all tickets distributed
circity city had 20, at least 20 in line
best buy line was ridiculous
toys r us had 20, line was about 20
walmart was sold out

*sigh*

When did you line up and how many did they get. I was planning on trying to wait there but I drove by the place at 7 AM and realized I had no chance. So I just went home and went to sleep haha.

Haha, here in rego park queens theres a ton of pissed off people at the circuit city and sears shopping center. Same problem down at the target and best buy center down queens blvd. Nintendo really seemed to drop the ball just like Sony with having enough systems avail.

I'm surprised. I have a Target, WalMart Superstore, BB and CC all within a 6 mile radius of me, ALL are sold out as of 11am.

I lined up in the afternoon yesterday and they got 84.

Yea, let's compare Sony's and Nintendo's launch numbers. Nintendo sends out over a damn million, compared to what by Sony? Dropping the ball is definitely shipping out over a million on launch day.

I've been talking to my friends who attempted to get Wii's (I haven't tried to get one because I kinda want MP3 before I pick one up).

One waited out since probably 3PM yesterday camping out at Wal-Mart. He told me the line was too long and shifted to the Target off Laguna.
His phone is off so I don't know his status.

My other friend was asking me what he should do, and I thought that Target was getting a lot more, so I told him to go early. He didn't score one, but Best Buy is apparently getting a large shipment tomorrow (Nintendo thinking about the holiday season? zomg!).

Then the last one who attempted to score a Wii already preordered it a month ago (or whenever they had the Wii-orders [omgwit]). Last I heard he's going to pick it up tonight, just because.

I got up at 7:30. I went to bestbuy, 3 futureshops, 2 ebs, toys r us and zellers. All of them were sold out or had too many people in line vs amount of wiis. Most of the stores had 30-60 wiis. Finally i made it to HMV which is like 2 blocks away from my condo and waited in line cause it seemed small. THEY RAN OUT AT THE GUY IN FRONT OF ME. Luckily though, a couple that went in only ended up getting 1 wii instead of 2 and i picked up the last remaining unit.

So far I've also been unsucessful. Picked up Trauma Center, Zelda, Monkey Ball, and a remote, though!

The only thing I got pissed at was seeing a deal at Toys R Us saying if I got 3 games from a list I could save $30. I picked up Trauma Center an Monkey Ball, which were both on the list, and I plan on getting Metal Slug. Too bad I got them at Best Buy :( Now I can't return them for cash :(

Also, what the heck is with stores having wiimotes, but not the nunchuck? Every store I was at had one but not the other. Silly Nintendo!

Woke up at 5:00am, got to Target by 5:25am, there were already over a hundred people in from of me by then. I know the store has 120 Wii consoles, so I wasn't really worried. By 7:00am, some people starts cutting in lines with their friends...... By 7:15am, some employee starts giving out tickets and he mentions that they aren't going to check anyone if they are in the same household as the other people that are with them, so I got a bit more worried. They ran out of tickets and I am like the 123rd person :( So I went home and hope that I will get the costco bundle, checked cheapassgamer and manage to snag a circuit city bundle.

I got buggered on this one. I was super shocked to see this many people camping out for a system, and even more shocked after going to virtually every store and finding ridiculously long lines. I've never had any difficulty getting a nintendo system in the past, so this whole thing is just mind boggling.

seriously this is the last time Im ever ****ing listening to GAF about a console launch.

"OH no they'll be enuff"

"lol wagglez wont sell"

****ing asshats. I went to ****ing sears to find out they only were selling 2 systems.

God damnit. Thank god its Sunday and I have the Jets to look forward too or else Id be royally pissed.

I am sort of tempted to go to the Sears by my house, since no one ever goes there. Hmmmm....
AHAHAHAHA

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PLAN THIS MORNING:

PROTIP:

DONT EVEN TRY SEARS GETS SHIT. **** SEARS NO WONDER THEYRE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS

**** CONSOLES MASTURBATION FOR THE MOTHER ****ING WIN.

Did you guys try Toys R Us? There were lines at every store except TRU when I went around 6am. I think everyone thought they were only getting preorders. They winded up having about 100 systems for non-preorders. This was in Long Branch, NJ btw.

I preordered one from Gamecrazy in early September, but apparently that wasn't early enough, so they say I have to wait for the second shipment. When will that be?

Could you please do that? I cant believe I relied on GAF for this launch.

What a ****ing failure.

YOU ASSHATS NEED TO BE CALLED OUT

I called mine the night before, and they said that they only would get 40 for the pre-orders.

They only got 18 here in Gainesville.

Most of you expecting to get the Wii during the day today aren't going to get one. I just got home and got mine after camping best buy for 9 hours ;)

Honestly we weren't going to camp, but we kept hearing trouble reports of wal-mart lines being full early. Sure enough, come 9pm there were 60 people at my wal-mart and only 30 of them would be getting one come 12am. My buds and I hit up about 3 other wal-marts, no dice.

We decided to go to target at 6am where they would sell 60 wiis at 8am. We decided to double check for campers, and sure enough there were roughly 60 campers already. We decided to find other targets -- same thing. Finally we found a best buy that would get 45 and only 24 people had lined up (this was now 12am mind you). We decided to set up camp until 9am since we had nothing better to do

30F :(

Every store in the greater San Francisco Bay Area was effectively sold out (because of campers) at a minimum of several hours before the stores opened.

I saw that shit was getting busy at about 8pm last night pretty much everywhere, it was miserably cold outside, and nothing was opening until noon today due to state law. I wasn't about to stay out in the cold all night or get up at 3 am or something and go brave the cold in hopes I could find an empty line to stand in. So good on Nintendo for having a hit on their hands. I'll just go find one in a couple weeks, it's not the end of the world, it's just a game console.

Though this "better get in line!" shit is getting completely out of control.

Yeah, the SF Bay Area pretty much is dead in terms of Wii availability. There were people in my Target line in the suburbs all the way from the city trying to find one. Of course, they didn't get one either.

We just had the two campers at the walmart I work at (a father and son). You could probably walk right in and get one right now. Total opposite of what I've been hearing!

I lined up in front of my best buy at 3pm yesterday afternoon and I was #14 in line.

They had 50 units, the last of which were taken a couple hours before the store opening this morning. Everyone else who showed up after that had to go home empty handed. I waited 18 hours to get my Wii and Zelda, but now that I have it, I can sleep and play Zelda when I wake up :)

All sold out here in Harrisburg, PA.

OMFG... who the hell hijacked my hobby, and were the f**k did all these campers come from!?

Am I getting too old, or is this complete bullshit?

SF bay area Wii availability sucked... luckily I got one though, after a bit of camping.
