Untold Legends Screens: Scout (via ign)

So is color just out of style now or something?

This, MGS2, and Warkhawk all look like they're being played on a TV my mon configured.

For all the shit this game gets it really doesn't look that bad. Looks like a run of the mill next gen outing. Nothing spectacular but certainly not ugly like Fatal Inertia.

Why are people giving this game so much shit? doesnt look half as bad as some JP 360 titles. Its a simple hack n slash game, anyone who has played the PSP versions knows what to expect. If it has co-op, im buying it and im sure i will have fun with it.

because it on a $500 to $600 system. Sony was promising the system to be the best thing since sliced bread, and so far it doens't look that much beter the the 360.

Its not a BAD looking game at all. Its just not a good looking game.

As I stated before, the lack of colors bother me, the way your enemies flash red when you hit them, the way nothing interacts with you in the environment, the bland looking "been there done that" style.

But alas, the game still looks pretty fun. Nothing I would cream my pants over.

I myself cannot understand why Warhawk looks so dull. Every interview has them talking about how they want it to be lush and colourful and yet the game looks like someone fiddled with the contrast. The concept art is full of vibrant greens and blues, and the environments are exotic enough... the game would actually benefit from a little bloom.

Yep, the CGI trailer from E3 2k5 made the game look visually entertaining. No longer.
Granted, we're only seeing one level, but still, show the game in its best aspect.

what's wrong with her face ?
I was wondering why her breast has a giant divit in the side, and why the sword is going through the floor. :lol

if you ever want to know that, check the resolution of the picture.

If its 1280x720, thats the best representation of the game.

So which is a fair representation of the overall footage?

well... how much space does 720 vertical lines take up on your screen...?

which is questionable since this title was originally being pushed as a 1080p title.

why do all the ugly games keep getting PS3 media released! Stop breaking my balls, Sony! Sto--Stop breaking my balls! Yer breakin' my balls, Sony.

Wow, the game looks bad. first the new motorstorm shots, then this? I cringe at the thought of the next batch... :\

Thanks, and since I can't start threads, here's a good read from the developers of the game "the wall" developer Play Ten

http://www.ps3land.com/article-462.php

PS3Land: What was your inspiration for The Wall, what kind of games, movies, etc. inspired the game and its characters?

Play Ten: I believe the concept of "The Wall" world is a grotesque reflection of the modern world. We want to show all the avarice and ambition of transnational corporations, who pursue their business targets regardless of the consequences. In their quest for profit often the great treasures of the past, the cultural heritage of Humanity is sacrificed. Trying to improve the world, some greedy corporate giants are destroying it in fact, without paying any attention to this sad truth and firmly believing in the righteousness of their ways. They continue to push the deadly balance wheel, which is poised to crush them in the end.

Also we want to show the religious fanaticism with itÂ’s terrible bigotry and superstition. Often the fundamentalist zealots are ready to devastate the existing world, just to create an ideal one they imagine in itÂ’s place.

The main idea behind the game, and the main source of contradictions, will be the problem of miscommunication between people, and between entire societies. As you probably guessed it already, one of the strong background trends is that someone can cause lots of suffering and do all sorts of vile things, but still consider himself to be a great deliverer from evils and savior of people.

Don't even put these in the same category - Motorstorm looks a hundred times better and in motion it's not even a competition.

In motion, no doubt yes.

I gotta say if people are using teams like SOE for a judgement call of the machine...they really need a serious wake up call and get out of the cave they been in to realize visual disparity between games, a powerful machine isn't automatically going to make devs be like Kojima Productions or Epic.

All I gotta say is Kameo and $400 Xbox 360 deserve an apology for all the shit they got before the Xbox 360 launch. :)

just think back one year to the massive bashing the 360 launch titles got. It's no different now, maybe a bit harsher. Then again you'd expect the PS3 launch titles to look a bit better, given an extra year and so on.

Yah I expect alot from SoE. Masters of quality.

Plus you get to collect lots of random loot and hit endless waves of giant rats with cool spells and put points into special skills!

fixed

actually, i find it hard to believe that a director with high-minded, michael moore styled aspirations can can successfully direct a diablo ii clone. the last thing the "hit goblins for random drops" genre needs is preachy thematic gibberish from amherst cast-offs. has there ever been a case where pretention was successfully wed to the base and resulted in a product that wasn't totally uwe boll-esque? did anyone ask for plot elements beyond "you're this duder or duderella -- the former gets more spiky armor and the latter gets more belly shirts -- and there's some dude in a castle who has some seriously awesome kit. there's a desert level and a snow level somewhere in all that. get to killing NOW"? does it REALLY matter?

You'd also expect titles that were supposedly, until just a few short months ago, suppose to already be out. thats what really gets me about these launch titles.. the whole Spring myth. of course im just bitter :/

I'm not sure if it is harsher now or not but it definitely deserves to be harsher now.

After the garbage that Sony pulled at E32k5 and then the price and the extra time to develop PS3...Yeah Sony absolutely deserves to get burned at the stake.

For a $400 console in late '05 with a "rushed port" like Kameo, Xbox 360 definitely didn't....

well it's not just SoE is it. Virtually all launch (or near launch) titles are underwhelming so far, with the exception of Heavenly Sword.

underwhelming v. E3 2005, not underwhelming vs. reality of next-gen so far. that's the distinction people have to make.

ps, that article has nothing to do w/ Untold Legends.

That's up for discussiopn. Some are down on Motorstorm, but it's a racer bringing actual next gen gameplay. Shouldn't that count for something? Or is next gen only about how pretty a game can look?
