After nearly two decades we get the original Mega Man X Universe -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZDAfOFupGc&feature=player_embedded

I love how people are still finding things like this in older games. It's like the pirate ship in Legacy of Kain that was posted awhile back.

MMX music is like THE WORLD IS ENDING YOU ARE THE ONLY HOPE THE SUN JUST EXPLODED OH GOD THE ENTIRE EARTH IS ON FIRE

so epic

Mother of God! As soon as I get home I'm giving this a try on the DOS version, I actually have the CD for that laying around!

For some reason, I like the music on the DOS version of the game better. I'm not really sure why, because even I know it's technically inferior. Perhaps it's just because I played the DOS version before the SNES version.

All the changes in Maverick Hunter X weirded me out, not that it was bad, just weird. So much of it is so similar to the original and yet there's enough changes to make it different. I prefer the original though.

Get Maverick Hunter X
Go to Chill Penguin to Get boots
Be confused

I say, bring on the HACKS. After enjoying the likes of "Rockman no Constancy", it's high time that the X series gets this kind of treatment. :D

Can't and will never beat Sigma in this game. I had this game as a kid and in 4th grade I got up to Sigma and he PWND me on his final form. Got the MMXAC and same deal. One of my childhood bullies.

A debug mode with an object editor for editing the RAM might help people figure out how the game stores maps provided there is no compression as they can read the data and compare changes etc to figure out patterns (though I have a feeling if it does any compression the RAM would be decompressed anyway which means pesky assembly and the map debug doesn't help...).

Sure you can do pseudo-hacks by editing a level using the debug, then releasing the savestate of it but it isn't quite the same...even if the result is similar.

A side topic, but why aren't these games on the Virtual Console? ;_;
Well X2 and X3 use the FX chip, and apparently that doesn't emulate correctly, since to my knowledge, there's no game on the service that uses it. But X 1 should be good :(

They never brought 5 nor 6 either.

Sometimes, video games bug me, because you know that there are tons of secrets hidden inside of tons of games. And the only way to find some of them is for a hacker to use a disassembler and find it by chance... :(

No, they didn't use the Super FX chip. They used a special Capcom-made chip called the Cx4. It allowed for some wireframe effects.

Also, welcome back!
