Upcoming PS3 Firmware (v2.60) Update

Not quite the same thing.

If I'm in a different game and my friend invites me, I want to be able to join. The invite system they have now just isn't all that great.

There also needs to be a status indicator that tells me whether or not a person's party is joinable, and if it is, allowing me to join it.
heel turn? swerve?

is there a free program that does Hulu?
Hulu works in the PS3 browser.

Well I'm pretty happy with the DIVX upgrade. They now play fine without transcoding. There are a few wonky xvid files that still fail though.

The photoviewer. Meh. Seems to only work with files on the internal HDD.

Why do people want cross game voice chat?
I don't get the demand for the feature, aside from "XBL has it so we want it too!"

I can't think of a situation where I would want to call up a friend in another game for whatever reason.
Shit, even if a friend calls me during a game, the conversation would more than likely go something like...
"Hey what's up"
"uh.. playing <<insert game here>>, as it says under my name"
"Oh um.. yeah.. so... how u doin"
"...I'm gonna play my game now, text me if u need something IMPORTANT"
-voice chat ended

Obviously you don't have any REAL friends. Having cross game voice chat is like making a phone call without the need of making one. I play single player games like Bioshock with my friends when we are planning to unlock something and need a personal walkthrough without calling each other over. It helps in conferencing with more than one friend at the same time when you can't decide where you all are going to be tonight or what game you want to play or just talk random jackshit. It is very useful when you just want a private chat with a group of friends when playing co-op games or competitive games without the need of making squads. I can go on and on and explain why universal voice chat is so important. I really don't know what you are babbling about for your argument is stupid.

Downloading now. Seems to be moving pretty quick. I'm at 17% and I just started maybe a minute ago...

wow, took 15 minutes, that's kinda long... usually takes 5.
Same, longest one in a while.

Well the announced features did nothing for me (and I use the multimedia aspects of the PS3 more than most I bet) but I have no time to look around, I still have 4 eps of Lost season 4 to get through before tomorrow. :D

Oh Lost on bluray *droool*. Every show should be set outdoors in Hawaii.

People probably don't care, but I love the photo album app. I'm traveling with the PS3 and this was the very day I popped in a CF card for my mom with photos, this couldn't have been better timed.

Unfortunately...they have a 42" Westinghouse that is fucking up playing BluRay :( Any links on that snag???

Maybe it's just me but anything I play directly from PS3 browser for Hulu plays incredibly choppy while playing through PlayOn is just about perfect.
Connection?

I run mine wired, and don't have any probs in the browser. (10mb downstream)
Works fine for youtube, Gametrailers, hulu, etc.

Well it isn't just Divx3.11 that was added, some of the movies I ripped that wouldn't work inexplicably (bitrate problems I guess?) now work! Huzzah!

That's the thing, through playon it runs without any choppiness, I have 6 or 7 Mbps downstream, whatever the Comcast standard tier is. I haven't tried in a while so I'll give it a shot tonight.

This is good news in the name of porn.

Yea, Hulu is mediocre to me too regardless of connection. I hate when people say it's a substitute for Netflix. This PlayOn thing looks ok.

Hmmm, I have standard Comcast too, it's 10/2Mb here though...

Are you wired or wireless?

:lol
My argument is stupid? How?
Because I like to focus on my singleplayer games w/o any friends babbling in my ear? If I did, I would play games while on the cell phone but I don't. Why? Because I like to be immersed in a game. If I want to talk to a friend about a game, I'll do it at another time. I.E. WHEN I'M NOT FUCKING PLAYING IT.

lol
Anyway, as I said in the first post: I can't think of a situation where I would want to call up a friend while s/he's in another game... especially when I have a cell phone with all my friends' #'s readily available for a real conversation.

After attempting to index my media on the first run, Photo Gallery choked with an error 0x80030416. Whatever the fuck that means. Wouldn't run. Ran a game, worked, exited game and didn't get the XMB, just the swoosh in the background. Uh oh?

Held down PS button on controller, shut down system. Waits. beepbeepbeep. Shuts down. I power it back up, it has to reindex my HDD.

Photo Gallery works fine now, however any folder organization I had for my photos, movies, and games are now gone, as are any renamings I had done to photos and movies.

Now I know not to waste my time doing that again, I guess.

You know what always looks dumb? Arguing for a lack of features being a good idea. I don't know if you have a 360, but you can adjust it to intrude or not as much as you like.

I'm confident Sony will address this at some point because it's so obviously useful and fun for most gamers, but the cell phone argument...I mean really?

Same shit happened to me about a year ago.. 15gb of music organization down the fucking tube. Now I just have a single music folder named "Music"

WTF.
Jp site has it.

Direct Link

Don't forget...

The Photo Gallery locks up on me at the "Please Wait" screen and never makes it any further... the music is still playing (and plays indefinitely.) I tried deleting it from the XMB (with the triangle button, then delete) and redownloading it several times and each time it seems to hang at the same "Please wait" spot and doesn't progress...

What a bummer... I'm not sure what to do. I can't find anything on Google either because we didn't even KNOW we were getting the Photo Gallery until earlier today... there's nothing to search for.

No interest whatsoever in the photo app, the battery indicator is still broken, trophies are as slow to load as ever, this update has been a 100% waste of time and money as far as I'm concerned

How many photos do you have? Perhaps it takes longer to "initialize" the more pics the software has to analyze?

Just a wild guess
