update 2.01

So is AC any better? Or is it too soon to really tell?
I picked up the PS3 version and these reports of crashing had me slightly worried.

I guess a bit early to tell - but there are reports of freezes ceasing, and even reports of framerate improving, though why this second case happens from a firmware update, I have no idea (that is, why the firmware would be causing frame issues).

Awesome if this fixed screen tearing issues for AC and heavenlysword. Frame rate and slowdown I've been putting up with since 3D began, but screen tearing is very distracting. But wishful thinking.

Well the last time I heard people complaining about either server drops or game crashes was about 1 month ago. I even experienced the problem back then, but everything has been awesome since the latest update. My apologies I wasn't aware anyone was still experiencing problems.

Nope, my controller is currently stuck as I type (other than the PS button, which works). Before I hit cross to make this picture full screen it obviously worked D-pan included, but now only PS responds. Eh?

Oh yeah, the only thing I can do to get out of it is to find controller 2. Even if I get into Remote Play sometimes it does this. Wacky. Anyone else?

EDIT: WTF, only reproducible with my original controller, the other one is fine. Blargh!

I've never had that problem, but I do have the occasional controller drop.

Once, my Sixaxis "locked" and wouldn't respond to anything. I had to hit the hard reset button on the bottom (didn't know it was there). You might try that.
 
Does anyone have the PC download link for the 2.01 update? I could only find the 2.00 download.

I can't update via PS3 because the transfer dies anywhere between 10% and 31%. I have tried a dozen times now, what a hassle.

Tried that too - oh well, back to Mario Galaxy! (I reckon I'll only use the other controller as my new primary, and then I'll call Sony next, hmm...)

Same. Even though my stats might be the most horrible ever. I got around one to ten stats in killing versus being killed... I love playing zones though, and I get a lot of teampoints. What's this about freezing? It has neevr happeend to me. I live in Europe, is that a reason? Also, Uncharted has been shipped to me from VG+ today, so I'll try to post some impressions on wether it freezes or not.

Even if AC gets better with the update (not freezing), the 360 version is still the one to get, right? I got both ps3 and 360, so it's nice to know, if I do pick it up later.

Speaking about Warhawk and Europe, why does it seem like the European players are 10000000x better than the North American players? I played on a SCEE server the other day for CTF and I got my ass handed to me. :lol
 
^Maybe because we do not have freezing issues? I am terrible at Warhawk, yet I somehow still like it. If you ever play against me, I bet you'll win. Everytime I actually do a kill in the game, I am surprised.

I never noticed the PS2 upscaling didn't work well anymore, so this means FFXII will look better than before? (I live in Europe, so I lack the EE chip.)
 
Gawd not another friggin update. Most of these updates are useless to me and really pain in the ass. Why can't they just have an update that installs itself?
 
I don't know if this is because of the update, but now I can't save my weapons class in COD 4 since the update... I hope this is just a temporary thing.

Its a known problem for COD4 on PS3. Its going to be like that until IW fixes their server issues.

This is unrelated to the Downloading Settings... issue right? Cos I was told that was fixed.

I just got my PS3 recently and I'm already annoyed over this.

Firmware 2.0 seemed to take forever to download so I decided to time this one just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. It took 17 minutes and 34 seconds to download and install this .01 update which does nothing but fixes things that shouldn't have been broken in the first place. Bugs are bound to slip through sometimes but with the amount of major stuff that 2.0 broke it makes me wonder if Sony even tested it at all.

It wouldn't be as big of a deal if it didn't take so long to download these things. 360 updates take under 30 seconds to download and install.

Nope, still does it sometimes. Not as often as when it first came out. A patch should be released soon for the 360 and PS3 sometime soon though.

Mine took over 4 hours.

OH, I wish I could download in 17 minutes.

Anyway, it's like the mac way of fixing things- a lot of updates are the whole package again. Everytime iTunes updates, for example, you redownload the whole program. It makes things very simple - just drag and replace, as opposed to running loads of scripts to change little things. In my opinion anyway.
 
Has anyone else had problems running certain demos with 2.00? Ratchet/Conan for example hang the machine if they are run from within a folder, yet run fine if they're run when just listing 'ALL' for Games.
Hopefully this update fixes this too.

I just installed the 2.01 update and now I'm having trouble establishing a solid connection with COD 4 I get an error message that reads:

Error

DW session create error 102 - 'BD_EXCEPTION_IN_DB'

after a few tries I finally got online and then the connection failed and when I tried to go back into 'find a game' I got a box that said downloading game settings...
 
I just had a post-2.01 lock-up in AC.

Strange one though. Instead of hanging or hanging with use of camera, this time I got stuck in the loading area. It was kinda cool because all the usual boundaries disappeared and I could run anywhere I wanted. The mists all disappeared, so the game ran at what looked like 60fps. The only problem was that it never ended and I had to restart the PS3.

Perhaps this was a glimpse of heaven?

If you don't use the PS2 upscaling feature (like me), there was no problem to notice anyway. Apparently they've changed/broken the way the upscaler treats overscan in 2.00. Now I'm up to 2.01 and haven't even seen the problem once myself.
 
Weird, my update finished in a second after reaching 50 percent. Not sure if it downloaded completely but installed fine...

It does that all the time for me. As soon as it gets to 50%, it goes instantly to 100%.
 
You know what the sad part is? Sony told its not going to fucking PATCH everything. Now have a look @them pathetic guys. Thats how it works, never fuck with software giants.

:lol @ the complaining about updates. It reminds me of all the people complaining about how often Valve was fixing bugs and tweaking the balance for TF2. They patched it daily... And it was awesome how many issues they fixed and how quickly they did it.

I'd think it would be more likely to be lower or more constant CPU usage.
 
I don't mind them fixing stuff. I'd just prefer if they could release smaller patches. Or at least not force me to update small things that I don't care about all the time, just to let me get to the store.

I don't care about any of these fixes right now, so could happily wait for the next larger release and save myself some time and bytes. But no, sony will sign you out of the store until you are a good little boy and update.

on AC no - why would it be? PS3 version looks slightly better, 360 version has 1-2 fps more.... both about the same at the end.

A lot of people had freezing issues with AC (including on 360), while very, very, very few had them with Uncharted or Warhawk.. So people reporting "no freezes" on Uncharted with 2.01 is funny :-).
