Zack and Wiki Wii
Manhunt 2

Phoenix Wright 3 DS
Front Mission DS

All this month + Trauma Center 2

Also Nights 2 (assuming they fix the framerate), No More Heroes, Dementium, Revenant Wings, Contra 4, Ontamarama, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, Shiren DS, etc.

Let's see what we've got here...

"By the end of 2007, the library of Wii games is expected to grow to 140, not counting nearly 200 downloadable Virtual Console titles" - Excellent news about Virtual Console.

Wii

Nov. 5: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn from Nintendo - I was going to wait for it to bomb and drop to $20 within three months, but with Brawl delayed, I may have to take action... Depends on exactly which VC games are put up soon and how long they last me.
Nov. 12: Super Mario Galaxy from Nintendo - Yay.
Nov. 13: Geometry Wars: Galaxies from Sierra Entertainment, Inc. - Possibly, but I want it to hit $30 at most.
Nov. 19: Link's Crossbow Training (packaged with Wii Zapper ) from Nintendo - It's hard to make a $20 game with a peripheral not worth it...
Nov. 20: Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords from D3Publisher of America - Waiting on impressions and comparisons to other versions. By instinct I'm inclined to stick with a portable version instead, but we'll see.
December: Super Swing Golf Season 2 from Tecmo, Inc. - Maybe, just maybe, but only after it's $20. Character customization can sell me on games, I have to say.
Feb. 10: Super Smash Bros. Brawl from Nintendo - Yes.

Nintendo DS

Oct. 23: FRONT MISSION from Square Enix, Inc. - Already? Give me impressions, might buy.
November: Contra 4 from Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. - Thinking about it since I like 2D and I like shmups. This being a buy or not is dependent on how the gap between screens works out in the end.
Jan. 21: Advance Wars: Days of Ruin from Nintendo - Months earlier than I expected, but awesome. :D This will carry me through two and a half weeks to Brawl no doubt, and I will enjoy every moment.

Also Mega Man ZX Advent (DS), which isn't on here. And maybe The Monkey King (Wii) if that's still coming before the end of the year. Plus Kiki Kai World (Wii version) in... I think it was January? It's odd to not be anticipating many DS games for once, but hey, they're all lined up for 2008 or beyond. Kirby Super Star, DQIV, DQV, DQVI, DQIX, Kirby Super Star, Tales of Innocence, ASH if it gets translated, Kirby Super Star, Fire Emblem DS, Time Hollow...

You're buying Nintendo's shovelware Zelda game and won't even consider games like Layton, Contra 4, or Dragon Quest Monsters Joker? :\

Actually going by you're list and knowing you also want Star Ocean 1/2 PSP most, it makes me think that maybe all gamers want are remakes. :\

That seems like a lot more shovelware than usual. Ubisoft is the biggest culprit. To be fair, they have a few titles I want (and I'm surprised about Chessmaster DS).

Take away the Nintendo stuff though, and you can see why third parties don't sell on the system thus far. It's mostly garbage.

I don't get how 19.99 for the zapper plus Link's crossbow training is shovelware? They could have easily charged 50 for it (and I still would have gotten it). I'm very excited for it.

So ya....basically just shut up.

Because they spent no effort making it, it's sad to see more people supporting that than original games that don't completely reuse assets from a game released last year.

Way too many good games for my budget. I'll have to relegate some to 'will get when they're cheaper' status. :(

It is very hard to find though. I guess Konami didnt make many copies of it.

why are you complaining about pushed-back dates and missing entries, people, when here in canada you can't buy games that should've been released a friggin month ago!

come up north and try to get dewy's adventure or race driver, i dare you.

I'm really annoyed by the Layton delay. Nintendo seriously needs to stop lying to people with bs release dates at E3 only to drop everything back shortly before the scheduled release.a

Also, it is really shocking just how poor the DS's fourth quarter is.

Agreed. Hell, half the fucking Wii "launch" games aren't even out yet, which is just pathetic.

Elebits: 1 month after launch
WarioWare: 2 months after launch
Wii Play: 3 months after launch
Metroid Prime 3: 9 months after launch
Project Hammer: Shitcanned
Disaster: No release date
Wii Music: 2008
Wii Motorsports: ???
Dragon Quest Swords: 2008
FF:CC: 2008/9

Only Zelda, ExciteTruck, Wii Sports, Red Steel, and Rayman made launch out of the massive clip reel Nintendo showed at E3 2006 as "launch titles".

Also, it is really shocking just how poor the DS's fourth quarter is.

Totally disagree. Counting October, November, December as Q4.

Not Casual:
Phantom Hourglass
Chibi-Robo
Contra 4
Front Mission
DQM: J
FFXII: Revenant Wings
Phoenix Wright 3
Dementium: The Ward
Geometry Wars Galaxies
Ninja Gaiden: DS

Casual:
Flash Focus
Mario Party
Cooking Mama 2

Now, it could definitely be better and having Leyton delayed is a huge deal for me, since it was my main December DS purchase... but it's not "shockingly poor". Hell, even if you're just an RPG fan, you've got DQM: J, the Front Mission port, and sort of Revenant Wings.

I intend on getting every game I just listed other than Geometry Wars, probably Flash Focus, and possibly Mario Party (I'll get it pending positive wifi reviews and interest in my social circle)

I know I'll be taking the slow season (10 games over 3 months) opportunity to catch up on my backlog of DS games both in terms of playing and in terms of buying. AFAIK I have around 25 DS games on my "released but not bought" list, and I have almost 70 DS games now.

Yeah, their holiday lineup is easily the worst since the one that coincided with the DS launch.

I'll omit obvious shovelware and games that literally no one on GAF would buy.

2004 - first three months of DS:
Super Mario 64 DS, Feel the Magic, Mr Driller: Drill Spirits, Ridge Racer.

2005 Oct to Dec
Castlevania: DoS, Trauma Centre, Phoenix Wright, Metroid Prime Pinball, Viewtiful Joe DS, Sonic Rush, Mario & Luigi 2, Animal Crossing, Bust-a-Move DS, Nintendogs Best Friends, Mario Kart

2006 Oct to Dec
Konductra, Clubhouse Games, Touch Detective, Nintendogs Dalmatians, Contact, Magical Starsign, Pokemon Ranger, Children of Mana, Elite Beat Agents, Yoshi's Island DS, Final Fantasy III, Castlevania: PoR, Kirby Squeak Squad

2007 Oct to Dec
Phantom Hourglass, Chibi-Robo, Contra 4, Front Mission, DQM: J, FFXII: Revenant Wings, Phoenix Wright 3, Dementium: The Ward, Geometry Wars Galaxies, Ninja Gaiden: DS, Flash Focus, Mario Party, Cooking Mama 2

IMO
2006 > 2007 > 2005 > 2004.

What this? Star Trek: Conquest from Bethesda Softworks (Nov. Wii)

How come i didn't hear about this one? Is there a screenshots of this game?

Umm...Did Mario Kart not come out in 2005?

I don't represent gamers in general... I love 2D, for one thing.

But putting that aside, Dragon Quest V, Dragon Quest VI, Front Mission, Fire Emblem DS, and Star Ocean 1 may all be remakes, but they're basically brand new games to me since I never played any of the originals. (Same applies to Mega Man Powered Up and most of the games on the Sega Genesis Collection--and that's why I've ordered those two titles alongside new stuff like Jeanne D'Arc and a preorder of Mega Man ZX Advent.)
As for Star Ocean 2 and Kirby Super Star, they have leverage with me mainly because they're portable versions. If KSS was going to Wii, I might not pick it up because it wouldn't be giving me the opportunity to play wherever I want, and same for Star Ocean 2.
This is also why I never bought the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger/FFIV, even though CT was probably my favorite game ever at that time--if I wanted to play it on a TV I would just get my CT cartridge and put it in the SNES. But if there had ever been a GBA remake or even a port, I would have been there on day one. And for the same reasons, I'm not that interested in FFIV DS. I could already play FFIV on a TV and I have the GBA version for portability, so a second remake just makes me shrug.

Also, my lists may seem full of remakes, but that's because I rely a lot on getting impressions and opinions from others. People can tell me right now whether Front Mission (or Dragon Quest V, Fire Emblem 1, etc.) are worth playing if they have experience with the original. They can tell me all kinds of gameplay details, big and small, and I can get a real sense of whether I'd enjoy the game.
But right now nobody has a clue what (for example) Oboro Muramasa Youtouden is like. All I really know about it is that it's beautiful, plays in 2D, and is an action RPG. Those are three very awesome things in its favor--and that's why I've got my eye on it--but even beautiful 2D action RPGs can go wrong in gameplay, even though they're my favorite genre.

I'm just saying: new games, especially new IPs, lose out on some hype in my eyes because I can't go out and find reviews from people who have played them to figure out whether I'll enjoy the game or not.

As for Layton, Contra, and DQM...

Layton is an adventure game, which isn't my genre at all... Unless the game is Time Hollow, which has me interested for the concept.
I'm definitely thinking about Contra 4; somehow missed it on the list, but I'll go add it. I will say I'm worried about the gap between the screens becoming annoying.
DQM Joker is DS 3D and I react toward that mostly like Amir0x reacts toward that. (But Dragon Quest IX is a very easy exception because it has character customization and that makes it automatically awesome. Tales of Innocence is another exception--that one actually looks really great.)

Stump: sorry, but I expect much better. The DS is in its third year now and has been in a position of overwhelming dominance for a significant enough portion of that time period that I expect considerably better software support (from Nintendo and third parties) than what is on tap in Q3 and Q4 (and, if we must be frank, its whole summer lineup was pretty dreadful too, even compared to the other systems). Along the same vein as the whole "rising standards" bit, I expect a successful system's lineup to significantly improve YOY and the DS is taking a huge step back this year.

Or to put it more succinctly... as I said, shockingly poor.

Nintendo is leaving the money for third parties to take and its a pitty that a lot of third parties don't have the talent. Its still a decent list though, even if it went down from last year. 2008 is looking a whole lot better.

I'm willing to bet the reason for the shovelware is this was the stuff that developers threw together quickly once they saw the Wii take off.
