oh geez! hmmmomnomnomnom nom...

Maybe I'm crazy but she is sexier with short hair :D

Perhaps the soul thing is actually an elaborate misdirection by the Fifth Column? Nothing like making the Vs spend huge resources on finding the "soul" instead of just taking over Earth...

OMG Tyler YOU WERE AT THE CHURCH. Did he film the fight with his eyes closed and ears plugged and then only watches it played back on YouTube?

Are the writers aware how dumb and pathetic they're making Tyler out to be? Seriously, he needs to get abducted - I would cheer for minutes.

So how has this season started off, overall? I'm kind of guessing "not very well" from the comments posted on this page.

Well, they started off with the whole red sky thing, making you think that there was finally going to be some sort of major confrontation between humans and visitors.

And then they pulled that out and went back to the same hide-and-seek bullshit that we had to endure all of last season.

Poorly, and from what I've seen regarding the ratings and the lack on online viewing options the money is on it being cancelled. So much like The Event, I'm sticking it in the "DVR but don't watch until I know if it's staying" pile.

Cut the kid a break, he only has like 25% of his DNA. I'm surprised he can function at all.

call me crazy but I like it. The whole soul thing is incredibly cheesy, but if you understand the visitors and specially Ana and how oblivious they are supposed to be about human emotions it makes sense.

The torture part did made me cringe, and I think it was well executed. Overall, I'll keep watching, but I also don't have hopes of it taking off ratings.

Just caught up on the first 3 episodes, and have a similar like-it-despite-itself opinion of the show. It's pretty much continuing on the same level as the way the first season ended, which is a good thing compared to how season 1 started.

The red sky thing was resolved too quickly though, they missed an opportunity to play up the what the hell is going on angle. Much like they missed the opportunity with the original arrival of the visitors at the start of the show, all over way too quickly. That's my main problem with the remake, they've never got across the scope of what is going on. It's all too focussed on a group of mostly useless individuals making hardly any difference, the original made things seem much bigger in scope and therefore of much more importance.

It's pacing is at least better than before, things are progressing enough to be bothered about what is coming next. The soul thing is a bit shitty but if they play it as the visitors being just as confused about an alien species as we are about them (just in a different way) they might get away with it. Despite their far greater technological superiority they can be baffled by something like this. Doesn't exactly ring true though, and prefer the original's much simpler harvesting for food take on it.

Prefer just about every aspect of the original's story really, but for some reason I still like watching this despite it's cheesy/shitty elements.

Goddamn, why couldn't Tyler have been one of the Fifth Column's victims?

This episode was only moderately shitty, as opposed to being extremely shitty. That's what I call progress.

meh, wouldn't it have been a better idea to let the FBI find the actual body of her V partner in that cabin so they all know the Aliens are reptiles with human skin and were already among them?

I think at the end of the episode Erica realized that she has to put down her son :P

i dont care if i have to wait until the end of this season, but i want him to die in the most gruesome way possible. hate his story

In the original series the "Tyler" kid was also extremely lame (but I don't think his name was Tyler). Pretty sure he was killed off.

They don't know who from the FBI is also a V, they can't take the risk of making a reveal in front of a V because he would tell Anna and she would sanitize the site.

Besides, do you really want to miss the remake of the cheesy revelation scene of the original? (and I would link to youtube but it's blocked at work).

Why dont they just anonymously dump a dead body of a V outside the white house or something with its face half cut open?

The visitors monitor constantly everything, it would be found and they would take care of the situation, quickly. It has happened before.

The real reason is that it's a climax the writers won't give up that easily until the story becomes too absurd to support the current scenario, in which for some reason the true faces of the visitors are not known to the general public, despite the multiple occasions in which it could be easy for the secret to be revealed.

I can only expect something like this. (now with link!)

I hope they reveal that Lisa is actually Erica's real kid while Tyler is Anna's kid and there was switcheroo during their birth. Then we can kill Tyler and no one will give two hoots.

I dont know what's worse, the blue screen scenes, the idea that a traffic camera would be pointing into a church, or EVERYBODY BEING DUMB.

The finale to this season will be the public reveal, probably done live on TV as in the original. Might even be done by the same person, as Marc Singer is in that episode.

Thought the latest episode was the best one yet, liked all the "Who is your God now" stuff in the Vatican from Anna. It's definitely improving at least, and I'm even beginning to find the shitty CGI sets quite charming in a way :D

They need to get Diana out of that stupid cave though. Oh, and kill Tyler off obviously.

Tyler, the worst character in TV history.

All I care about now is watching him die a horrible death. Whatever progress the episode is making is instantly wipee when I see Tyler act 12 again.

It's too bad we won't get to see what happens after that.

Yeah, I don't think anyone expects a season 3.

Weirdly, my mates have got into it now despite not bothering with the first season. From the ratings over there though, I'm guessing this isn't very common!

Oh well, it's become a bit of a guilty pleasure that I will enjoy while it lasts.

this show is just begging to be skinned

The blue screen job at the Vatican was atrocious. They should have just stuck with doing interior shots for those scenes. Even my family whom normally don't have a good eye for these things remarked how jarring and fake it looked.

Aside from the wretched effects (which look like Smallville circa 2001), this show is also my guilty pleasure. Despite its many shortcomings it's still on my 2nd tier of shows I watch weekly.

But I agree, the whole "soul" angle has come off cheesy and Tyler is indeed the worst "teenage" character on TV since Claire from Heroes.

I'm still just amazed at how bad the effects are. Fringe also has somewhat of a sci-fi theme and they're still able to have decent effects even with their budget being reduced. Heck, even Heroes when its budget got slashed, its limited effects were at least presentable.

Whomever is n charge on the V production team needs to learn to work around their limitations.

Yeah, the producers of V really don't understand 'less is more'. Unlike Fringe. I sort of see new V as a companion piece to the very cheesy original TV series, rather than anything to do with the miniseries. I think that's why I can enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. For the high camp and Starchild nonsense of the TV series, you get shitty CGI and Tyler in the new one ;)

Hopefully they will quickly move on from all the soul nonsense, they can just about get away with it if it's just something they are confused about then quickly dismiss. The religious angle is much better played by the whole would they be worshipped as Gods or feared as the Devil and the end of the world. They keep missing opportunities, like with the whole red sky thing. The bit with Anna in the Vatican was done well, but it's a very confused show. They just don't seem to know what story they are trying to tell.

The original V worked because it was a simple parallel, Space Nazi's. New V has just dabbled in all sorts of areas, from Obama, to Scientology, to Government organisations that can't be trusted, to religion. It's all very confused, no wonder the resistance have been so bloody clueless this time around!

Such a missed opportunity, but still looking forward to the next one.

i just started watching fringe and it makes even my favourite shows look a little bad, just started season 2. it makes V look like a pile of shit.

Fringe is the best sci-fi series in a while, you are in for a treat from the second half of season 2 onwards.

The show really comes into it's own then.

The show would be like 10 times better if the boy died.

Why with all the Tyler hate? If we lose him, we lose half naked Kara...I mean half naked Laura Vandervoort... ;_; (If him getting killed off allowed us to have some Anna in lingerie shots though...that would be worth it, as we've already had lots of Laura!)

He probably won't be killed off anyways, as he's integral to the back story they've set up. Just replace him next season with Thomas Dekker or one of the Ashmore twins.

There's no way in hell V gets a third season.

Kill the little bastard now so we can savor his death.

Krycek :D

Concordia?

That's the best name they could come up with? It sounds like the name of a Cirque du Soleil show.

It's the name of a religious university out in the middle of nowhere right next to my place. Now traffic is awful thanks to them >:(

So who thinks Anna will order Tyler's father killed?

EDIT: Hmm, looks like they are gonna go for preferring Anna instead of taking away his father...
