Let's have a few more positive VC series news shall we ;)

http://steamspy.com/app/294860
Owners: 550,696 ± 18,681

So in 1 year's time the game has managed to sell over 500,000 copies. Granted some of these have been when the game was $4.99 or lower, but that's gotta be a good figure for the game.

I asked in an MC thread and here's how many units VC1-3 have sold in Japan so far
PS3 VC1 - 242k
PSP VC2/3 - 170k

I think the main reason for VC4 and Remaster on PS4 is due to possible Western sales.

Once I have any more updated info I'll update the first post :D

EDIT: A little trivia, it joins the ranks of
Alien Isolation
Sonic Generations
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

for having exceeded 500,000 owners on Steam

Ah it's part of the MONTHLY Humble Bundle that's out right now.

Looking at the SteamSpy data, the amount was oscillating around 510k before the release of the bundle and is hovering around 530k. A rather insignificant bump if you ask me.

Not like it has been about a few quid a couple of times. Though that still means there's roughly 500,000 more people who own it.

For some reason I completely forgot to get this on PC. Well, I timed well with the Humble Bundle deal.

Is the balance mod the optimal version of VC?

I really loved playing VC2 but the dumb fucking noises made by characters during conversations inbetween missions was intolerable for me.

"Yeah!"

"Huh??"

"Hmmm"

"Ha!"

"Whoaa!"

This is why SEGA should release Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 on Steam. $14.99/£9.99.

A few trailers to show how it's a large and 3d interactive world with killer cutscenes, story and abundance of side content. I think many would bite.

It's the only option left to grow the series outside of Japan.

The game has been like $5 a lot getting 500.000 sales for a "higher" profile game with a 100+ million install base is not that hard.

But still very well deserved.

I've heard good things about it, and even then you can still play the original game just fine.

I must've done around 3-4 giveaways of this game by now, so shoutouts to all my homies and sistas who helped spread dat VC love <3

WIll be one of the first 750k coming this christmas sale I guess - I was waiting with my doubl dip for a while, but I don't see me getting back to the PS3 version anytime soon.

Not surprising considering how cheap it is when its on sale nowadays (£3.75). That price for such a huge amount of content feels like theft

It's been $4.99 throughout the past few months during sales ;)

It's been $5 a handful of times, yes, but Steam doesn't actually have 125m+ active accounts. Valve changed the definition of such an account from been online the past month and owns a game to been online in the past 90 days or owns a game, which means, for example, my original account that I lost access to almost a decade ago is now considered "active". I presume the change was to account for users who play F2P games exclusively, but what Valve should have done is dropped the game ownership component entirely.

I'm sure I once read someone on GAF link to something indicating that Sega were actually disappointed with VCs sales, like they only met 75% of expectations or something. I can't find it now but hopefully that was wrong as I want more PC ports.

I'm one of them! Didn't get too far on PC but I finished the campaign on PS3 all those years ago and absolutely loved it. Very much looking forward to VC4-- hopefully it'll find its way to PC as well eventually.

Sure, I know, these last few sales I pointed my money in the direction of games I didn't already previously own.

I've been itching to play this one again though - and I want to try it with the steam controller.

I dont know when to be impressed anymore if I know a games been on sale at a rediculous low price.

IIRC this game sold around 400k without being discounted at all. Is there a steamspy setting that shows you the sales and the amount it sold before any sale?

Well, I bought 5.

That's complete hogwash. The were very excited about its sales.

I really don't know about that. Yakuza sells even less than Valkyria and aggressive price drops didn't help it in the same way.

For awhile. And it'll make a lot more money on PS4 than PC so it makes sense.
Why are you convinced of that? The most recent day-and-date release of a similar type (Tales of Zestiria) seems to have made at least as much money on PC as it did on PS4.

And that's not a series with a really popular previous entry on the platform.

What evidence do you have of that? AFAIK the game didn't sell all that well on PS3 worldwide and probably not that much better than PC, albeit at a higher price. Although the higher profit margins on PC would bring them more in line for revenue.

Boom! Even as I posted that I thought Durante will come swinging with ToZ data. Your zeal for steam is mighty indeed.

But no, ToZ didn't make as much money at all. Because a) we only have US data for PS versions and b) that game was released WW. But you know this.
