Value-Age: Sony announces Warhawk + Bluetooth headset for 59$

Already knew about the Jabra a few weeks back, but the price is good especially considering the street cost of the headset alone. Seems like Sony did their research with what headset to pack in, props!

Warhawk looks so amazing, better than any other console multiplayer game (well, maybe besides BF: BC). At the time of it's release, my PS3 should be fully hooked up to the web, and I should be in Ireland :O.

I thought ps3 cannot do motion blur......
And AA, and HDR, yet Warhawk pushes that and adds volumetric clouds, they are rendered using ray tracing from what I remember, and it's a MP only game with 32 player limit.

4x AA, HDR, Motion blur, volumetric clouds, procedural waves, gigantic levels, 32 players, great animation, flawless framerate...

Oh and, being able to press Start on a second controller and see the screen split in real time while inside a match so a second player can join.

$40 download?

$60 price is freakin awesome for BD game... I guess after Warhawk, nobody will complain about not having anyone to chat with on PS games :D

Did everyone upgrade to wing commander? wow.

Oh and I know the ps3 can do motion blur, it just pisses me off when people say it cannot and use the darkness as an example.

anyways the game looks FANTASTIC. just booted it up again tonight. man even on my SD tv this game looks good.

Why buy a Wii or PSP, you can win them from Fanta, you save yourself 250$.

What a dumb logic. Not so long ago, Shadowrun was released, having less maps and content than Warhawk, it costs 60$. Warhawk with more content and a bluetooth headsets retails for the same price, it's great value.

Now now, no need to get sand in your vagina

Your example is completely different from what I proposed; but I know better than to start arguing with someone of your intellect, so I'll leave it at this:

What I said is bargain hunting, just look in the newspaper on the weekend, and see if a local store is having a sale; it WILL happen eventually (there's 2 months to go until release, I bet between now and then it probably will). It has nothing to do with WINNING anything or leaving anything to chance.

Isn't anyone else here thrifty with their purchases? if there's a chance of some savings, then I'd at least keep an eye out at the local stores, which is all I said you should do. if you don't find a deal going, then by all means, buy the game+headseat combo.

In a couple of days with the beta, I've put in 10 hours, and yes, warhawk is worthy of your cash (repetitiveness is its only fault).

oh, and we all know shadowrun sucks (especially at full price), no need to bring that up ;)

Isn't it a little weird to put "PLAYSTATION NETWORK EXCLUSIVE" on a box being sold at retail stores?

Anyway it's smart to bundle with a headset, not only to encourage team-work in Warhawk but to get more people using voice chat in other PS3 games too. Sony should do the same thing for Socom Confrontation as well (if that's gonna being sold at retail).

They are going to actually. Announced at Gamers Day. Multiplayer gaming on PS3 this fall has unrivaled value.

Well Sony does need to tell people that it is an online only game.

Thats already a great deal, i'm also interested in what other 'extras' they may put on the disc. I don't think im grabbing warhawk, but this should really help push the units.

So ...

Eyetoy 26th, Lair 14th, Warhawk 28th, HS 4th

exciting 6 weeks in front of us...

If they dont announce price cut at E3, that will definetly mean that they will rely on strong software lineup to drive the sales forward...

Oh, PS Eye date, didn't know that. :D
And don't forget, SingStar on August 22nd in EU.

PS! Regarding PS3 price cut, Heavenly Sword release would be the earliest date I would bet. Also, at that time they should already be in the middle of a buzz thanks to the other big releases just before and with HS being regarded as a biggie I think that would be a reasonable date. The best date imho this year.

I have a Jabra JX10 headset that I'm currently using for PS3 games and it works perfectly.

My only two complaints come from the lack of a 'mute' button and the fact that the microphone is really way too sensitive (in fact, these two complaints pretty much are valid for all bluetooth headsets).

Awesome. So would it be safe to assume $20-30 for the download-only version?

Well they're obviously going to try to create incentive around buying the package deal, so the download will probably make the game disc itself cost more ($20 in bundle, 35$ in dl?)

I have a ghetto Motorola BT headset but I'm getting the boxed copy just for a (presumably) better one.

And yeah everyone in the beta got bumped up to Wing Leader after the patch so we could all mess around with the customization. There is a LOT of skins and variation available for the warhawks and your uniform.

Did you know you could adjust the sensitivity in the XMB audio utility (somewhere under System settings)? You can see from the audio readout if and when it's picking up your voice as you vary the sensitivity value. The default is '3' but I set mine to '2' and I think it works great (and I've gotten good feedback).

No

For ****s sake buy the damned game

Seriously. I'm as miffed as anyone about higher game prices and microtransactions and all that jazz, but some people expect to get everything for free.

Some shit just deserves to be purchased.

I'll probably grab the retail version, myself, as I need the headset. Headsets alone can be kind of expensive, so I'm not worried about paying $60 for that and the game combined.

Isn't it $50 for a bare wireless MS headset?

This is for the official first party one. The one shipping with Warhawk is a third party. Weird considering that Sony themselves make great quality bluetooth headsets.

I think this may be the first time they packaged in a non-Sony product with their games.

Great. I held off on buying a headset since I was waiting for this and it looks to be a good deal. Haven't even played Warhawk yet so I'm doubly looking forward to this now.

Only unbiased gamers and top-tier envelope pushing dev's such as EA, Ubi, and Activision will tell you that, so, that pic must be photoshopped...

well, motion blur is not in the beta version I played. neither is the DOF effect seen in some other pics.

I want a PS3 more and more.

I'm saying $50 download because of pressure from the retailers. Definitely not less than $40.

I'm pretty sure it is? You get that 'drag' effect when you quickly make a turn with your Warhawk I believe.
