Valve PR: First 10 titles get steam greenlight (incl Black Mesa)

Some of the new games look pretty good too, it will be sad if the hype died down and those games get less atttention.
Stanley Parable was added a few hours ago and it's up to 1% now. Starship Corporation was added a couple days ago, and it's gotten 1% now as well, and without the built-in audience that already knew about it like with Stanley Parable.

I hope they adjust the vote % scaling a bit, so we can see a bit more granularity.

Thank you. Not too enthused for any of these though. Cry of Fear looks especially bad.
Cry of Fear is bad in a good way. It's a free Half Life 1 mod. With coop. You should try it.

This was my concern, Kenshi and other stuff that a lot of people just think looks "cool" getting on. The game's overly-ambitious and I think it will be junk. I will miss the days of Valve being the explicit curator on Steam, they made mistakes occasionally, but nowhere near the amount the community soon will.
Exactly how many games that got picked merely look cool?

In fact a majority are playable in Alpha/Beta form or as free mods.

As for Kenshi, if it isn't any good in it's final form Valve doesn't have to accept it. They can still reject Greenlight entries when they are finally finished.

It looks like it has way more combat and a lot of jump scares which is generally effective, but lame. Is there anything more to it than that?

Cry of Fear has quite a bit of combat and it does have its jump scares, but it also has some fantastic atmosphere. It's nothing like Silent Hill, but its use of bizarre enemies and effective environmental shifts make it feel like the sort of proper follow-up the series has yet to receive.

Also happy to see some quality titles have made it through Greenlight! Routine looks really interesting. Hoping to see more horror content make it through.

This is how it's done

I like it.

Just remember, a game doesn't have to hit 100% to get Greenlit, just has to have a significant show of community support.

There's nothing from the first batch that really catches my eye, but I'm glad the program is working out so far.

I can't wait to see the next batch of games picked.

I think the lineup is very good but...

They really should start separate queues for Finished games and In-dev games.
None of these first picks look to be problematic because for the most part they are fairly far along in development(or basically done in the case of Black Mesa)

But really there should be some sort of way to give priority to developers who have a finished product available already.

I have a feeling that in the future we might see projects completely fail because it is basically setting itself up as a Kickstarter style site except with no funding....
