There is approximately 0 chance that HL3 will be able to live up to the unrealistic and impossibly high expectations set by the public.
People should probably not have expectations for a thing that doesn't exist.

I think this was around the same time period as Goldfarb's tweet:

I would think if he's talking about the VR contact lenses (that may or may not be the imagination of Mr. Economist Guy), Abrash would be involved with the hands on. The fact he was occupied at the time could lend evidence to it being something else.
Really, they have so much stuff it's impossible to truly speculate. The controller or Source 2.0 (ideally the controller showing off Source 2.0) is probably the most likely, though, given the venue.
Pretty much this.Valve could show nothing and people would get excited, nothing to see here.
Shenmue 3 and Half Life 3 news on the same day? Is this real life?
HL3 would be one of the greatest disappointments in the history of gaming. And not because HL2 was not great either.
You have horrible taste.
I don't know whether you're saying that HL2 was horrible or whether you didn't correctly interpret my post.
In light of recent rumors and speculation, later today I will make an official statement about what I saw yesterday with Valve at GDC.
I would have said something sooner, but I need time to prepare said statement and have been quite busy. Stay tuned.
Well I'm hyped. Gotta be something good if he's taking the time to prepare a statement.Dave Oshry, one of the people who saw what this "Valve thing" is at GDC, tweeted the following:
I'm guessing, yeah, something to do with Source 2?
Also, added it to the OP. =)
You said HL2 wasn't great.
Horrible taste!
In before "I just saw nice new hats".Well I'm hyped. Gotta be something good if he's taking the time to prepare a statement.
That's not what I meant/said But I agree my wording was confusing. I think HL2 was great, and HL3 will be a disappointment specifically because of how good HL2 was and how far technology has come, the bar is set too high by the players either intentionally or unintentionally, and no game Valve can ever dream of producing will be able to live up to gamers' expectations.
Why do people still care about Half-Life 3? It's just a potential sequel to a game that's not even great.

Meeting @EvolveTom for lunch to discuss my statement re: Valve. Also, we're hungry.
GoldSrc engine demoed for "Project Quiver".
I want to be in The Source 2 believers, but I don't want to lose another GAF civil war#TeamCG
Weren't we promised "something with a 3" in the title?
They are the ones that are making the remake of Rise of the Triad, right?
You can't just force those kind of things they have to come naturally

I love the 3 hour time difference between the "preparing his official statement" and the actual official statement. Great troll.
Fake? Awwww. Probably then. Dream ruined. Back to waiting. Not that I'm aware of. Do you mean that fake Gaben email someone created ages ago?
Still hoping for Left 4 Dead 3 to appear at the next E3.
They probably showed Techies
