Variety: YouTube (Google) set to buy Twitch for $1+ Billion

I hate to say it but I've actually had more problems with YouTube than with Twitch. Twitch is always shitty for me. Some nights unusable. YouTube doesn't give me nearly as many problems.

I don't understand the jumping ship thing.

Why do we hate Google all a sudden? If anything this gives Twitch more capital to do awesome things with.
YouTube has gotten a lot worse since the implementation of Google+ and the crackdowns on content ID. People fear the same thing will happen to Twitch, and it probably will.

Because of precedent. Google bought Youtube and integrated red-headed stepchild Google+. They killed the comments section too.

Because of that one time they changed the layout or modified the shitty useless comments section or something like that.

comments section was trash anyway. still seems broken but at least somewhat saner.

plus google is pretty much abandoning g+ push.

Another video service gone to shit with daily inexplicable updates of the UI that noone asked for and removal of features because it makes the page look more streamlined.

Youtube comments had it coming though.

everybody loves to talk shit about how they're the "biggest 4chan badass on the internet", but it's fucking pathetic and it doesn't do humanity any service whatsoever.
Besides, those boards are moderated. Youtube was a free-for-all and it showed.

Don't care, since Twitch was pretty shitty imo. The only problem in my eyes is more stringent copyright enforcement.

That would happen to Twitch sooner or later, anyways, even if Google didn't buy them. People using that as "the" reason are hopelessly naive.

Have you visited Youtube recently?

The video player and video quality are terrible. The layout is a mess.

Copyright takedowns run rampant. Content makers frequently have issues with not getting paid properly.

It's a mess.

I don't understand how people complain about Google+ integration and the Google buyout in the same breath when those things happened seven years apart.

For ContentID, what is Google supposed to do? They can make the system more transparent and harder to abuse, but do you think they'd get away with not having any sort of copyright enforcement?
