Vas up GAF? Fashionwatch: Bruno

Saw it last night with 2 friends, mostly deserted theatre (probably less than 10 people total)---utterly hilarious movie. Bought the Borat dvd and will most likely buy this as well.

However, I need GAF's help. At the onset of the Middle Earth trip, that certain techno/electronic/whatever remix of that certain traditional song plays----PLEASE can somebody identify/source that particular version of it? It is definitely different than the roughly similar one I've had for several years now.

Saw a documentary on TV last night about Sacha Baren Cohen. It made me really appreciate his comedy much more. Man, Ali G and Borat were too damn good. Judd Apatow was on saying how basically every comedian is/was jealous of him because no one had done what he was doing.

Any idea what it was called? I wouldn't mind watching it.

That link isn't currently working, but it doesn't really matter. The entire segment where Bruno is being yelled at to do pushups and not cross over the line? That was scripted.

As in the script that drill sergeants use

I was watching that too, it really made me understand his huge intelligence in the things he does. I'm amazed at how seriously he commits himself to his work as well.

Truly a comedy genius.

Sacha Baron Cohen: New Hero of Comedy
They weren't drill sergeants, they were both officers (referred to as 'cadre'). It was a National Gurad training installation for Officer Candidate School. The scene is no "scripted", however, its clear that arrangements were made and the gentlemen knew it was for TV / movies.

Oops, quoted the wrong post (currently using my phone to browse GAF).

You know what? I don't honestly care how much of it was scripted. I was laughing my ass off. Speaking of ass, i love how he replaces it with auschwitz:lol .

Saw it last night. I thought it was really funny, but there were two couples (that were there separately) that walked out around 3/4s of the way through. There were probably less than 20 people in the theater, so it was over 10% of the viewing audience!

Just saw it.

Surprisingly, the theater was packed. We had to sit in the 2nd row.

Silver Spring MD BTW.

Saw it was 5 friends, they all loved it.

Nobody walked out (well someone did but they came back)

I think this thread is funny, all the people saying "too much staged" when really, very few was.

I honestly expected more penis.

I personally thought the swingers scene was the most shocking, as it was actual sex.

The ending really surprised me. I heard a lot of "no way" as they showed the next famous singer.

I wonder what watching it in a theater in Alabam would be like.

I watched this. Loved it. Could barely breathe during the focus group segment, harrison ford, etc. The UFC cage match was great.

Question - there were so many scenes I remember people had spotted being filmed for this, what happened to them? There was an interview with a white supremacist which resulted in bruno being attacked, and there was one with Ben Affleck where he was asked about nazis and stuff? La Toya Jackson - where Bruno steals her phone and tries to get michaels mobile number - which was cut)? I seriously hope we get all these and more on the dvd.

I couldn't watch this movie for too long. I was 17 when I first watched Borat and the naked wrestling scene fucking creeped me the fuck out.

Then I try watching this movie, and within the first 5 minutes there's already
Midget dildo anal sex

Shit was not Cash

How is it you post on internet forums yet find Bruno to be showing you stuff you'd never seen before?

I mean, hell, I've seen those machine contraptions on various porn streaming sites, and people have been linking each other to far worse REAL porn on the internet for ages.

Loved it, can't wait to see all the deleted scenes and stuff.

And before it flames up again---no, it wasn't as good as Borat.

Are you sure you were 17 when Borat came out? You seem like you're 9 years old.

Maybe you do, but I don't actively go looking for those things on the Internet.

In a second viewing of Borat (In it's entirety), I did find that movie to be crudely funny, sexual jokes included.

Perhaps it's because I didn't really expect all of that so soon in the film maybe? I didn't go into Bruno with the knowledge that a lot of other people did. All I knew was that it was a spiritual successor to Borat.

I'm not gay, but I didn't really find anything in Bruno too crude or offensive. Well, I found it crude, but not overly so with what it was going for.

Sad that it was "too gay" for America.

were you scared it would turn you gay to watch it?
No, but the pubic hair and "show me your penis" at the beginning was a start.
That's nothing a movie with some good tits can't undo. Right?

Maybe I'll laugh at this movie a little while from now.

Just came out on DVD, and I've been watching it. It's been really hit and miss

Like the adopted baby bit was great
Ditto for most of the "Gay converting" parts

But the Israeli/Palestine wasn't really funny at all.
Army part fell flat on it's face also.

I picked it up last night and watched it right away, and I agree that it was more hit-or-miss than I expected.

But all in all, it was fucking hilarious. The good outweighed the boring, in a major way.

I bought this movie on blu-ray on a whim. The movie is as I expected... one huge hour+ gay joke... the shocking/funny moments are tempered by the fact you expect this kind of humor from the Ali G/Borat guy Sasha Baron Cohen. We have higher expectations for him, and this movie is really hit and miss.
But I did love the cameo appearances near the end, fucking great.

Does the DVD/Blu Ray film come with any deleted scenes? I know he shot some stuff with Arnold Schwarzenegger that never was in the final cut?

It's definitely not as strong as Borat and I think that largely stems from Bruno's story and tradjectory. On the show it was clear Ali G and Borat were much more established characters, with a fair amount of history to them.

It didn't help Cohen and production team were on fashion companies watch list which made getting fashion interviews pretty hard to come by.
