VG music that is hauntingly beautiful.

Lots of great suggestions in this thread, but I gotta say I agree most with Halo's Unforgotten and anything from Metroid, Dark/Demon's Souls and Majora's Mask.

Don't think it's been posted yet, but I find the Resident Evil 4 credits music "hauntingly beautiful". It matched the art of the villagers perfectly, which got kind of creepy towards the end.

The title track from Saya no Uta (strangely there are two tracks by this name, but whatever) definitely fits this description for me. Silent Sorrow is possibly even better, but I'd recommend that anyone curious about this game stay away from it so they can experience it in context. As an aside, does anyone happen to know if the naming convention for this soundtrack (every name beginning with the letter 'S') was intended in the original Japanese? Or was it added in the fan translation?

Saw a lot of posts for Resident Evil music, but not this haunting piece of music, so I am just going to leave this here:

Beat you to it dude!

GAF! I give you the main theme to Biohazard: Outbreak

All you have to do is listen. The thanks can come later.

Hauntingly beautiful.
I agree whole-heartedly with you though, it is a fantastic piece of haunting music. Whenever I play the game I sit and listen to this in it's entirety!

Anybody mentioned stones from ultima yet?

Well stones from ultima. Especially piano arrangements are beautiful and haunting to listen to for me.

Ah, I did not see your post earlier. Glad you posted it earlier then I did since that piece of music deserves recognition sooner rather then later.

Your just like me, I remember loading up RE Outbreak to watch the intro back in the day just to listen to that piece of music until I was finally able to get the soundtrack.

I wouldn't be mad if they decide to use it again for Resident Evil 6 or Operation Raccoon City (Needs to be experienced again for the new generation of RE games) It just gives off such a haunting vibe that there is no hope left and death is imminent.

Probably already posted(multiple times), but...Baten Kaitos

House of Cards - A little haunting, with how it starts off and all.

Edit: Eh...it kinda drops the haunt in the middle, then picks it back up at the end.

I just finished FFXIII-2 and felt the need to post my favorite song. Make sure to listen to the entire mix, as both aggressive and non-aggressive remix are included.

One of the most beautiful songs in any FF (and that's saying something!), and possibly my personal favorite.

Final Fantasy XIII-2: Eclipse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxbsbdM0jZw

Portal 2 - "Four Part Plan"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IWW6iOnJ90

This song just makes me feel like something is...broken, and you don't really know what.
You don't know what, but something is broken, and nothing will ever be ok again.

The melody that starts at 2:58 is 90% of it. It's like listening to despair.

This has a different title (and is oh-so-slightly longer) in the three-volume OST: Bombs for Throwing at You.

Other tracks from Portal 2 that come to mind are Love as a Construct (particularly when the Companion Cube begins to "sing" at 1:20) and I Made it All Up. And, of course, Cara Mia Addio.
