[Vg Tech] Stray PS5 and PS4/Pro Frame Rate Test

The version tested was 1.02 on the PS4 consoles and 1.003.000 on PS5. Performance can vary run-to-run.

Timestamps:
00:00 - PS5
08:39 - PS4 Pro
17:17 - PS4

PS5 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2304x1296. PS5 uses a form of temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 3840x2160 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. Pixel counts at or near 2304x1296 were only found in parts of the opening chapter and this chapter seems to be particularly demanding.

PS4 Pro renders at a native resolution of 1920x1080.

PS4 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1280x720. PS4 uses a form of temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 1920x1080 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution. PS4 seems to often render at a native resolution of 1920x1080 outside of the demanding opening chapter.

Cutscenes are letterboxed which results in a lower effective resolution during these scenes.

There are pre-rendered cutscenes that run at 30fps on all three consoles. These pre-rendered cutscenes can exhibit frame pacing issues on PS5 that weren't seen on the PS4 consoles https://bit.ly/3PBDknl Pre-rendered cutscenes seem to be rarely used in the game.

Ps5 beat PS4, alright

Weird that DF didn't find dynamic resolution on PS4 when apparently it drops all the way down to 720p.

Truth be told, upscalers like TAAU, have made pixel counting a bit harder.
But yes, it's strange that Tom didn't notice such a big drop in resolution.

Pro being pretty much the same as base PS4 is weird.

I played it on PS5, where it's basically a locked 60 except for some very noticeable stutters when entering new areas.
