Mmm-hmm, but you're comparing the normal specimen of football fan to the fanatic specimen of gaming. Besides, we weren't talking about social acceptability, we were talking about whether or not you can make fun of them. And you can. It happens all the time, even on regular comedy shows.

As for Madden, the quality of the games has no relevance here. He's not taking the piss out of the game, he's taking the piss out of its fans. He's doing a pretty lousy job of that, but you don't have to jump in for Madden's honour here, as he's not even aiming at it.

And to the other guy, you don't have to hide behind the internet to make fun of someone. What are they going to do to you? Beat you up? If you do that in the adult world, you go to jail, so most people are smart enough to just grin and bear it if they get burned.

I know a guy that does it all the time, seems to be like a force of hbbit with him, because he'll roll with the jokes if me and my friends poke fun at his "broness." Not a bad guy to hang around with though.

Comics like this always make me question the blind internet hatred for Madden gamers though. It reminds me a lot of people that are terrified of older people playing stuff like Wii Sports.
