Video Games 100-200 years from now.

In 200 years developers will finally understand that graphics dont make a game and will focus on gameplay for the first time after 210 years :)

Graphics will look like movies in only 50 years, but will be another 150 years of constant debate over which game version looks better over tiny differences

After 1500 years it will be known at last that art is more important than a good engine, but that prediction is a bit bold, deep inside me i know this will never happen, people will always debate over tech specs of an engine, than how the game actually looks like

I would hope that by then, life will be like video games, so we will just go to the beach in holosuites or something.

there will be 5 guys with cyber neck beards on neoneogaf declaring it worse then the second holocaust.

The space/time singularity will make it so that games aren't even a thing anymore. The development, release, and critical panning of a game will all take place within the same infintismally small pocket of reality. Games will become their critics, and critics will become their games. Cyber neckbeards will effectively be mocking themselves.

Videogames will probably be considered quaint relics of a bygone era similar to radio dramas.

Entertainment will probably be something more like computer assisted live action roleplaying games. When hackers hack the game, people will probably die, but most people will consider that an acceptable risk.

only at XXVII, you ask? hd towns are still hard

Final Fantasy XXX.
Will they embrace it, or avoid it?

If 100 years from now video games don't take place entirely in your mind I will be exceedingly disappointed.

And I'll be doubly disappointed if I'm not alive to see it.

We will only need to watch a video of Iwata laughing, and we will be entertained for hours. Families will huddle around the TV laughing with him.

Occasionally there will be an interruption when Reggie brings Iwata a cup of tea, but laughter will resume straight after.

Pretty sure humanity will be inside a console by then.

Maybe we're inside a console now!

And maybe that console is within another console, and that one is within another yet, and so on, hundreds, thousands, millions of levels up.

Think that's too many nested virtual realities? To that, I reply: too many according to what standard? To the one within the borders of your own quaint little virtual reality?

Blam. Minds blown. Admit it.

If a lot of hardcore gamers had their way:

Other than that I predict Gamecube 2 with Yamauchi returning to lead the company as Mecha Yamauchi version 4.

Given the materials most cartridges are/were made from, it seems safe to say we'll have video games around for eons.

Just imagine when they uncover the E.T. landfill during a routine archaeological dig.
Atari shoulda marketed it as a time capsule
