Can't think of any middle class supermarkets though.

When i was growing up the local morrisons was quite posh, actual brand names man.

4 kids and only my dad working meant Aldi was our lifeline. Heinz beans were a luxury and litre bottles of coca cola? ha you wished. We had shitty off market bottles of cola that actually tasted like chicken...no shit, we called it chicken pop.

Reading this thread i just had my purple drank moment, but even if i could go back in time a billionaire i wouldn't change a fucking thing....except the chicken pop. So so bad.

I wont tolerate people dissing Morrisons.

just UrbanDictionaried Pikey, apparently it means gypsy? Well didn't know that, thought it meant underclass people, including chavs and heroin addicts.
Same difference.

It was cheap cola, ever tasted really really flat coca cola? a bit like that but with even less fizz, i'm guessing they cut down on the sugar and sodium to keep it cheap.

Chicken pop was the name we gave it.

the amount of my life that resonates with Peter Kay's TV shows/sets is ridiculous, my mum's side of the family were all from Bolton and it was crazy how realistic his interpretations of that culture are. "That fine rain that soaks ya through".

....

*watches Peter Kay on youtube*

aldi own brand from the early 90's, whoever made it is probably out of business...caught adding the mildew scrapings from sweaty arses to his cola i imagine.

Edit: this is a bolton aldi as well by the way.

I remember on some show recently they were asking Irn Bru why they didn't go global, it came pretty much down to the fact that they couldn't be arsed. They also showed their factory and it was TINY.

oh, and OT but does anyone else know how to use the words "tight" and "scavv" properly?

tight = harsh: "'ere stop being tight on 'arr Shelly, give 'er a chip barm".
scavv (verb) = steal: "can I scavv a chip?"
scavvy (adj) = "'ere you properly stole that goal, it was goin' in and you got yer foot on it for no reason ya scavvy bellend"

Iron Bru isn't global? I'm Stateside and I've seen them a few times. Bought one one; it kinda tasted like a metallic Big Red. Maybe they just imported it; idk.

Not a fan of energy drinks myself. Never ever had one. When I was younger I used to think Red Bull was an alcoholic beverage.

God that's about the most mastubatory, self-loving name for an energy drink ever.

I used to drink imported Russian energy drinks at the Petrol station near my college until I got heart murmurs. That was some proper dodgy shit, drank 3 in 2 hours (600ml bottles), went home after college feeling fine, started playing my PS3 (Motorstorm 1) and then blacked out for 4 hours, woken up by my mum shouting that tea was ready. Fuck that.

Man was a great day for me supermarket wise when Morrison's came down south, suddenly all those super savers or whatever, taken over and a big morrison's built in it's place/

to those in this thread, don't diss Lidl's, some great fruit juices (higher fruit content then some of the taste the difference juices frm Sainsbo's) and nice pizza's, meats, fish, some good fruits also and what not can be found if you look... that and Iceland is great, yeah I went there...nope I aint kidding and I am not a Pikey...have at you!!

also hardcore mofo me I used to drink Panda Cherryade and Rola Cola when younger..

Panda Cherryade was nice, rola cola was a test of your mettle.

only now Robinsons has been relegated in the posh cordial dept do I have it more now as an adult, correct me if wrong, can't you pick it up in 99p or poundland?

also Cheezmo next time I am in the 99p store I will get a Vimto and drink on in your honour!

edit: isn't M&S and waitrose Upmarket or middle class?

Mums Go To Iceland!

If your family went to Iceland regularly, you more than likely have a sister who had a kid at 17 and has their ex-BF's (who she had the kid with) name written on her lower back.

Surely this is the work of a stockbroker from Surrey taking the piss.

A World of lower class wonder food awaits, pretend you are on a survey mission and scoope out the natives in the shop and laugh internally at your supperior up bringing in everyway, it's how I get my self esteem on :P all joking aside the tuna steaks are top notch and cheep

So how does everyone feel about Nesquik (chocolate)?

It's the only thing other than Vimto I drink.

Sometimes have a cheeky chocolate Yazoo at work. Nesquik requires preparation.

Not had Nesquick in ages, used to drink it quite a bit when I was younger. Strawberry was my flavour of choice. I have Nesquick cereal for breakfast though.

How do you drink so much Vimto and not get just a teeny bit sick of it. How long have you been maintaining the 80% consumption rate? How many glasses of Vimto have you had today. Also, what's the verdict on the ideal cordial/water ratio. I know some people who over dilute...and so many who under dilute. That's why it's essential to prepare your own Vimto personally.

Nesquik Banana for me, though it's like fucking hen's teeth up here in Scouseland. Imagine my utter joy when I saw the local HBs had got in the big 500ml cartons of the stuff! £2 wasn't cheap, but I scooped that shit up as soon as I could!

Also, don't diss Aldi pop - the Vive stuff is good, especially the Orange (not the Diet Orange) and the Cola, which are well tasty on the rocks. Way better than that Cresta shite :p

I do it by eye using a particular glass. The one in that pic ^

Just over an inch of vimto and top up with cold water. If it looks/tastes too strong/weak then just put in a little more water or Vimto till it's fine.

I almost never get it wrong anymore.

All chocolate drinks are the work of the devil, Strawberry milkshake or bust.

Just the thought of chocolate milk makes me gag, its why i banned the wife and kids having Coco Pops.

I drank Vimto practically every day while I was in Ireland this summer. Now I have to live with the fact that I might never taste it again...
