Vinegar on fries

my faves in order:
ketchup,
vinegar (malt), till they get too soggy, need crispy fries to start with),
cheese fries,
chili fries... (don't mind when they get soggy for some reason)

god i'm salivating just thinking about vinegar on fries. I think vinegar and pickled foods have the strongest gustatory response (salivating, craving) of all foods in humans...
i'm seriously almost drooling... good post OP, well played, we will be having vinegar with our fries tonight..

Also, vinegar lowers blood glucose (and so does cinnamon)

In this study, 10 people with type 1 diabetes drank 200 ml apple cider vinegar with water after breakfast for one week, then for 2 weeks. Results showed that vinegar's effect on gastric emptying was statistically significant, meaning, vinegar has good potential in mediating lower blood glucose concentration among type 1 diabetics.

In another investigation conducted by Johnston and White, vinegar improved the insulin sensitivity of subjects with type 2 diabetes. In a randomized crossover control trial, 11 people with type 2 diabetes consumed 2 tablespoons apple cider, or water at bedtime with 1 ounce cheese (controls). Results showed that vinegar ingestion at bedtime favorably affected waking blood glucose levels. Authors of the study attribute this benefit to vinegar's ability to reduce starch digestion, and delay gastric emptying. Results of this study was published in the 2007 Issue of Diabetes Care.

Not surprising since Ketchup is made with Vinegar.

Personally I don't like it, nor do I like any condiments outside of ketchup.
Tomato Sauce is pretty much the only condiment I don't like.

A pub dinner for me would see French and English mustard, Mayonaise, a little splash of vinegar and a bit of salt and pepper on the chips.

Tabasco sauce is a suitable alternative to vinegar though.

Malt or white vinegar on hot chips = god. Ensuring the correct salt:vinegar ratio is essential. For French fries from McDonalds, I generally buy a thick shake and dip the fries into the shake :D

One of my neighbors in school always drowned his fries in vinegar. He claimed it was good for cleansing the GI tract.

I finally tried a little bit of malt vinegar on my fries today. I'd have to say it wasn't too bad, but the taste was too subtle to give up ketchup.

If it's too subtle you need more vinegar. Drown that shit.

Blah blah mayo is disgusting because it's a big blob of fat blah blah blah

Who cares? It's delicious. As long as you only have a touch of it on your fries (Not chips. I hate mayo on chips).

Near my local chicken and chip shops, you often see teenagers walking out with boxes of hot wings and chips (and fingers) DROWNING in ketchup and mayo. And they tend to stink of vinegar, because the local chicken and chip shops seem to dilute their ketchup with it.

(I like my fat chips drowning in vinegar though. I tend to push it when the guy at the local chippy lets me salt/vinegar them before he wraps it up)

Malt vinegar and salt on fries is heavenly.

I am also a fan of the ketchup mix with mayo sauce if no vinegar is available. Now I am hungry for some vinegar fries :(.

Fucking win!!

See, everyone says that's nice but I've been reluctant to try it! Tomorrow I'm going to buy myself a McFlurry and medium fries to try it out!

Well it's not that 'far out' or 'exotic' as people tend to believe.

I mean, if you enjoy Belgium Waffles and Churros with softice, the jump to fries+softice isn't that big. But the salt defintely makes the fries combo better!

White people...

Yo, i used to be like you and be disgusted at the idea of putting mayonnaise on chips but then i tried it and it was not half bad. I also can not believe i went 20 years of my life deprived of burger sauce and 18 years of my life without Thai Sweet Chilli sauce. The latter goes so well with all food whilst the former is excellent with all fried food.

I love vinegar and onion flavored store bought chips but never thought of throwing vinegar on plain fired fries. Think I will now try it.

What is this called and where can I find it.

Carne Asada french fries.

Available at any hole in the wall mexican food joint in the southwest.

Typically consists of: french fries, grilled beef(or dog), guacamole, sour cream, and cheese.

I would like to say that my sauces of choice are:

Ketchup: Shit goes with all fried food
Burger Sauce: It's scary how good this shit is with junk food. I mix it with Ketchup, Thai sweet chilli sauce and hot sauce
Thai sweet chilli sauce: i put this on like all food that's cooked. I really struggle to think of what i eat without it. it blends well with everything and anything
Hot sauce: whether it's pepper sauce or other sauces it goes well especially with shit like meat and rice

My Patented sauces. 3 Parts Ketchup 4 parts Thai sweet sauce 2 parts hot sauce
3 Parts Ketchup 4 parts thai sweet sauce 2 parts hot sauce 3 parts burger sauce

Shit's the shit on burgers

So I decided to try this today. Poured a bit of malt vinegar on my fries, threw some salt on em, and then I dipped them in mayo.

It was like a party in my mouth, and everyone was invited!

SOOOO BOMB!!!!

The most optimal combination for this is a Wendy's Frosty + French fries IMO.

When I worked at Wendy's I was surprised at how many people did this so I tried it and went, "YUM!"

Okay, I bought some malt vinegar and went to McDonalds to get some fries.

Not bad, not bad.

Preferable to ketchup, which ruins the taste of the fries. Vinegar, however, enhances the taste. Especially if you throw enough on them to make the fries soggy.

It's especially delicious when you've got a decent amount of salt on the fries.

Not bad.

Yessir. And I found that the vinegar also improves the ability of the fries to retain the salt.

Vinegar with a spray top. No more drowning chips

A spray top?! Is that what we've been reduced to.

maggi is actually very tasty with fries

I've drunk Maggi before. Never had it with chips though.

I'd never heard of doing this until one of my friends took me to a Red Robin burger place last year. Now I ask for Malt Vinegar any time I order something that comes with fries.

Why has no one said Chicken Salt yet?

Chicken Salt > Normal Salt

If ketchup is the standard condiment on fries in the states, does the states have ketchup flavoured potato chips? (I've been down to the states about 10 times but surprisingly never once looked at the chip section in a grocery or convenience store)

Actually, there are indeed ketchup flavored chips here. Never tried em myself, but I heard good things.
