Famicom Detective Club Emio The Smiling Man: A (Switch)

Total Playtime: 15 Hours

I was surprised by the quality of this game. The characters are animated most of the time but the backgrounds most of the time aren't. The game is easy in the sense where you can't really screw up but I don't mind that. Story was great and I really liked the cast. It's a short game but I actually like that due to playing longer VNs before. The backgrounds and characters art are all high quality. The killer face reveal was nightmare fuel I was surprised by how dark this game got especially since this is made by a first party Nintendo developer in collaboration with MAGES. I hope we get more entries in this franchise and I do have to play the previous two entries

The game has an extra chapter after thr credits and that extra chapter has a 30 minute anime episode that goes into the Killer background. It was animated by Studio Mappa and the quality was amazing all around

I want my Studio MAPPA Famicom Detective Club Anime Series

Why?

I'm only on chapter 1 😝

Other than The Radical Dreamers which was a good but short VN, I've been playing Another Code Recollection. I'm around 6 hours into the game and so far I'm really enjoying it. The puzzles aren't too hard and the story is a lot of fun. Looks super beautiful too and I love the cellshading used on every character

Another Code Recollection Progress Report

I finished the first game Another Code Two Memories

Now I'm starting the second game Another Code R A Journey Into Lost Memories and it looks like they combined both games into a single game since it goes straight into the second game

So far I'm really enjoying this, the puzzles so far aren't too tough. The puzzles are fun to solve and the environments are super fun to explore. I got all the origami in the first game. I want to get all the origami in the second game for 💯 Percent Completion

because you guys said positive things about The House In Fata Morgana, I gave it a go and it starts out interesting with waking up in that mansion and meeting the assistant and then being transported back in time, but then that conversation between the young girl and young boy lost me ... like it was just too boring to continue, it had nothing to do with my character or the mansion and just seemed like I was listening in on a random unrelated conversation between two young children who talk about boring stuff that isn't moving the plot forward

I just stopped right there

Nice, I'll get it one of these days on a sale.

Btw, a bunch of MoeNovel VNs are on sale on Steam at the moment. I ended up buying most of them since they're so cheap, and a couple were double dips because I already owned them on Switch.

ATRI from Frontwing is also on sale.

Another Code Recollection: A- (Switch)

Total Playtime: 21 Hours

This was a Remake of Another Code Two Memories and Another Code Journey Into Lost Memories

Once I beat the first game, it goes directly into the second game

Graphically looked amazing but I prefered the Graphics of the first game more due to being set in a Mansion. Both games looked great though

The OST is good and there's a lot of voice acting in this game. All the actors did a good job

The script on the other hand while being good was predictable. I prefered the story of the first game to second one

The puzzles were lot of fun to solve and weren't too hard or too easy

I do have a preference for the first game when it came to the story and cast

Overall a good experience but I have played better Visual Novels

I just started Death End Re;Quest and been playing it in portable mode. I tried the docked mode but it doesn't look any better. I'm around 6 hours into the game and I'm really enjoying the story, cast and gameplay. I'm only mentioning it in this thread due to the game having Visual Novel elements

After several years I've finally gone back to finish the Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations from the Ace Attorney Trilogy. I'm on the fifth and final episode right now. I really love these games, but the cross-examinations frequently bounce between having insanely obvious solutions and super out-there stuff that takes awhile for me to figure out. I'm curious if the series every evolves into something more or if all the future games are pretty much the same? The fifth episode of the first game added some new mechanics to take advantage of Nintendo DS features but I didn't really enjoy those and am glad they so far haven't popped back up in the series.

I still have Gnosia and AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative in my backlog, plus looking forward to Danganronpa 2x2 for that new campaign

You reminded me that I have yet to finish The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. It's excellent as one would expect from the series.

I keep seeing Nirvana Initiative on sale but haven't finished by backlog - I keep buying a new game around the time I finish one lol. I loved the first AI The Somnium Files.

I know this is a JRPG but it has a lot of Visual Novel elements to it, I'm nine hours into Death End Re;Quest. I'm surprised by how great the game is due to it being a Compile Hearts game. The cast is surprinsingly good and the plot is great and very dark so far. I'm really liking the battle system. I'm aiming to get the True Ending

After I beat this game, I'll most likely be playing Death End Re;Quest 2
